The New Graduate RN Residency Program at Banner Health has received the highest accreditation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Practice Transition Accreditation Program® (PTAP). Banner Health’s New Nurse Experience (NNE) provides a collaborative learning environment where you can refine your nursing skills, enhance your knowledge, and transition from a new graduate to a fully competent, professional nurse at Banner Health.
About our program:
The Banner Health New Nurse Experience is a full-time Registered Nurse position that assists you in transitioning from a new graduate to a fully competent, professional nurse at Banner Health. This program provides a collaborative learning environment in which you can refine your nursing skills, enhance your knowledge, and develop new personal and professional relationships.
Successful candidates will be placed in specific units at Banner Health facilities to be clinically mentored by unit staff and educators. We offer all our New Grads multiple Career Pathways and development opportunities to achieve your long-term career goals. Whether you are wanting to go into a specialty unit, leadership roles, non-bedside nursing opportunities, or any other sector of nursing – we will help you get there! The expectation is that you will stay on your NNE unit for at least 12 months to get a full and comprehensive training experience! New Grads will also need to live within a reasonable commute distance of the facility they are hired into.
Program Activities Include:
- Clinical experiences with a preceptor
- Training in our state-of-the-art Banner Simulation Center
- Competency and skills assessment and verification
- Orientation to the Cerner electronic medical health record system
- Patient care skills lab that provides hands-on experience with equipment
- e-Learning modules
- Resources for professional and personal development
Requirements to Apply Online:
- Recent or Upcoming graduation from an accredited nursing program
- BSN is preferred - open to ADN at select locations
- Current BLS card (through either American Heart Association, Red Cross, or ASHI) or ability to obtain certification before a start date
- No More than 12 months of RN experience
- Previous healthcare experience is preferred

Benefits/Compensation:
This is a full time, benefitted, and paid position. Enjoy a flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential. All New Grad RN positions are eligible for Banner Health’s “Total Rewards Compensation Package”, which includes Health/Dental/Vision insurance (if employee desires), PTO/Sick time accrual, 401K, and a long list of other benefits. Benefits begin the 1st of the month following your start date.
Unit Description:
4 South is a 40 bed unit offering care to a wide variety of patients. Our patient population includes post-surgical and medical patients with multiple comorbidities. BUMCS is connected to the Behavioral Health Pavilion so we care for psych patients who require medical treatment as well. RNs in this space will truly learn something new each day and be a part of a close nit interdisciplinary team. 4 South prides itself on promoting a positive work culture, teamwork, and work life balance. In addition, BUMCS is currently working toward Magnet, Level 3 Trauma, and Primary Stroke designation. One unique aspect of working on 4 South is the mixture of new grad and experienced RNs which provides great support for new team members.
5 South West is a brand new 17 bed unit offering care to a wide variety of Medical Surgical and Progressive Care patients. Here you will have the unique opportunity to be a part of creating and growing a unit from the ground up. Here you will see patients with multiple comorbidities including sepsis, wound infections, respiratory conditions, and mental health needs. RNs in this space will truly learn something new each day and be a part of a close nit interdisciplinary team!
POSITION SUMMARY
This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under their direction. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs. Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family and assures completion within appropriate timeframe. Reviews available information obtained by other health care team members. Reviews diagnostics and laboratory data and reports abnormal results to the physician(s) and other appropriate caregivers. Completes assessment and reassessments according to patient need and as outlined in policy.
2. Formulates a plan of care, including the discharge plan, utilizing assessment data and patient, family and health team input. Initiates a plan of care based on patient-specific needs, assessment data and the medical plan of care. Goals for patient are realistic, measurable and developed in conjunction with the patient/family. Considers the physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age specific and educational needs of the patient in the plan of are. Plans care in collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary team. Reviews and revises the plan of care to reflect changing patient needs based on evaluation of the patient’s status.
3. Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the activities of the health care team. Provides care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, in compliance with policies and procedures, standards of care, and regulatory agency requirements. Delegates appropriately, and provides nursing supervision in the provision of care to patients by other licensed nurses and other personnel. Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating to other caregivers the status of patients for whom care is provided.
4. Evaluates the patient's and family's response to care and teaching, and revises the plan of care as needed. Evaluates patient progress towards goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with other health care team members. Evaluates patient's response and the effectiveness of patient teaching.
5. Documents assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record. Documentation is legible, timely and in accordance with policy. Documentation reflects objective/subjective data, nursing interventions and patient's response to treatment. Notes physician orders accurately and in a timely manner.
6. Provides care based on the best evidence available and may participate in research activities within clinical practice. Participates in unit or facility shared leadership. Interacts and participates in the education, role development, and orientation of facility personnel, patients, students, families and visitors. Promotes/supports growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate.
7. Contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care. Actively participates in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes. Such activities may include participating in professional organizations.
8. In some roles, this position may supervise staff and work flow of the department.
9.Interacts with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families and external contacts, such as employees of other health care institutions, community providers and agencies, concerning the health care of the patient. Interacts with other health care providers in numerous settings in order to report and ask for or clarify information. Also works with clergy to provide spiritual support. Synthesizes and prioritizes data from multiple sources to provide support for the human response of the patient and family to changes in health status.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice. BLS certification is required. Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.
Relates throughout the interview process the experience, training and education needed to perform the job. Experience in the clinical area for which he or she is applying is desired. Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area in which they work as demonstrated through annual validations. Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions require a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting. Experience must include working in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area. Banner Registry and Travel physician practice positions require a minimum of one year experience as a Registered Nurse in a physician practice or an acute care setting.
In a Home Health setting, team members must be able to operate personal vehicle and possess a valid driver's license. Auto insurance coverage is also required to be active and maintained.
Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral, and BUMG, BUMCT, or BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire. Employees working for Banner Home Care AZ must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. Employees working in the Banner McKee Senior Behavioral Health Inpatient Unit must possess an Colorado Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. Employees working in any Banner Staffing (BSS) Behavioral Health role in Arizona must possess a State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree preferred. Professional certification preferred.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

Unit Description:
2 South is a 13 bed ICU unit offering care to critically ill patients. Our patient population consists of individuals with an array of medical and surgical conditions such as respiratory failure, aspiration pneumonia, PE, strokes, and cardiac concerns. In this space you will also learn how to manage specialized treatments/devices such as CRRT, Intra-aortic balloon pump, and Impellas. As a RN, you will be working alongside experienced staff and building strong interdisciplinary relationships. BUMCS is currently working toward Magnet, Level 3 Trauma and Primary Stroke designation.

This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. 3. Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the activities of the health care team. Provides care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, in compliance with policies and procedures, standards of care, and regulatory agency requirements. Delegates appropriately, and provides nursing supervision in the provision of care to patients by other licensed nurses and other personnel. Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating to other caregivers the status of patients for whom care is provided.
4. Evaluates the patient's and family's response to care and teaching, and revises the plan of care as needed. Evaluates patient progress towards goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with other health care team members. Evaluates patient's response and the effectiveness of patient teaching.
5. Documents assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record. Documentation is legible, timely and in accordance with policy. Documentation reflects objective/subjective data, nursing interventions and patient's response to treatment. Notes physician orders accurately and in a timely manner.
6. Provides care based on the best evidence available and may participate in research activities within clinical practice. Participates in unit or facility shared leadership. Interacts and participates in the education, role development, and orientation of facility personnel, patients, students, families and visitors. Promotes/supports growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate.
7. Contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care. Actively participates in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes. Such activities may include participating in professional organizations.
8. In some roles, this position may supervise staff and work flow of the department.
9.Interacts with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families and external contacts, such as employees of other health care institutions, community providers and agencies, concerning the health care of the patient. Interacts with other health care providers in numerous settings in order to report and ask for or clarify information. Also works with clergy to provide spiritual support. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice. BLS certification is required. Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.
Relates throughout the interview process the experience, training and education needed to perform the job. Experience in the clinical area for which he or she is applying is desired. Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area in which they work as demonstrated through annual validations. POSITION SUMMARY
This position selects and places surgical instruments, supplies and equipment during surgery. Scrubs and provides instruments, sutures, and other sterile supplies during surgical procedure. Participants in the training and orientation of surgical technology staff and students, as assigned. Is proficient to scrub on a minimum of two surgical specialties.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Prepares for surgical procedures. Pulls appropriate instruments and supplies and ensures good working order of instruments. Reviews case carts for correct instruments and supplies. 3. Demonstrates the principles of aseptic technique and universal precautions throughout the procedure. Disposes of sharps and trash and places used supplies into case cart for processing. Participates in counting sharps, instruments and sponges. Prepares instruments for cleaning following each case.
4. Ensures that all surgeon preference cards and pick lists are accurate.
5. Assists with OR turnover between cases. Participates in stocking, replenishing supplies and cleaning operating rooms.
6. Participates in or leads the training and orientation of surgical technology staff and students, as assigned.
7. May provide business support to the department including administrative tasks.
8. This position follows safety procedures in regards to medication labeling, appropriate handling of specimens, appropriate handling of sharps, time-out procedure, radiation and laser safety, infection control, assembling and disassembling instruments. Participates in emergency call rotation. Is proficient to scrub on at least two surgical specialties. Internal customers are patients, surgeons, and nursing staff. External customers may include practicing physicians, patient families and vendors or sales reps.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED and current basic life support certification.
Certified as a surgical technologist OR two to three years of experience in a surgical technologist role. Where applicable must be registered with State Regulatory Agency.
This position must be able to scrub proficiently on a minimum of two surgical specialties. The position requires manual dexterity and the ability to maintain professional decorum in highly stressful emergent situations. The position requires the ability to be conscientious, organized, and orderly and the ability to respond quickly to the needs of the surgeon and patient. Must stay abreast of new developments in the field.

Provides necessary supplies, support and assistance to medical staff and patients for unit specific procedures, under the direct supervision of a licensed professional.
5. Performs receptionist/clerical duties to support overall operating efficiency and effective flow of communication and information throughout the department. Participates in the resolution of customer problems or collects necessary data and follows through to appropriate person for problem resolution.
6. Maintains a complete patient record with admission, transfer, and discharge information, progress notes, and consent forms. Ensures that all reports and chart forms are scanned or filed into the patient’s record. Ensures that charting forms are labeled and accessible if they are needed. Maintains adequate supplies of frequently used, patient education materials. Assists in the ordering of patient specimens. May transcribe and process physician orders effectively using the electronic medical record.
7. Maintains adequate levels of office, dietary, and medical supplies and completes requisition forms when supplies need to be ordered. Reconciles supply order upon delivery. Monitors and tracks the use and whereabouts of electronic equipment such as patient ID scanners and lap top computers. Ensures that all are accounted for and in working order.
8. Based on area of assignment may assist with transporting patients, including pre-operative and immediate post-operative patients to critical care unit. Participates in OR room turnover.

This position supervises and oversees the operations of medical education within a specific department. Accountable for the activities required for accreditation, recruitment, and effective operation of the medical education program. This dual position provides front-line leadership to team members while organizing, supervising, and coordinating Graduate Medical Education (GME) program(s). Works both independently and collaboratively with GME to support the development, implementation, maintenance, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the assigned GME programs. Uses specialized GME knowledge, judgment, and skills necessary to guide program coordinators to organize and document all medical education activities for assigned programs. Accountable for the activities required for accreditation, recruitment, and effective operation of the medical education programs.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Manages the operations of the residency and/or fellowship program including, but not limited to compliance with ACGME, program requirements, and institutional requirements. Establishes and maintains databases of information for accreditation reporting, surveys, licensure, credentialing, audits, and other reporting.
2. Supervises the day to day activity of team members who provide administrative support to GME programs ensuring a high level of productivity. Continuously monitors the functioning of GME processes and recommends changes to operational procedures as necessary. Brings to leaderships attention any potential problems, serious issues, or situations that have not been resolved in a timely manner. Establishes and promotes teamwork and collaboration between individuals, departments, and the entire organization.
3. Interviews, selects, and hires qualified department team members. Provides formal training, orientation and on-the-job training. Ensures the ongoing competency of team members through coaching and the evaluation of team member performance in a fair and consistent manner.
4. Accountable for the daily operational performance of the department. Makes decisions – guided by policies, procedures and accreditation requirements. Improves efficiency and accomplishes operational objectives. Serves as a role model and resource person for providing exceptional customer service. Works within budgetary/financial objectives set by finance and monitors monthly financial reports for variances and adheres to the annual budget.
5. Builds and supports effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and organizations. Coordinates activities, reviews work, exchanges information, and/or resolves problems related to graduate medical education. Lead and participates in institution wide improvement activities through sharing lessons learned and best practices to facilitates continuous improvements.
6. Coordinates recruitment and interview events and logistics. Ensure all annual credentialing and other hospital and Department requirements are met for each trainee within the assigned program.
7. Collaborate with the Program Director, APD, and/or Program Chief(s) to design and implement yearly rotation and vacation schedules for house staff. Work performed is reportable to the Graduate Medical Education Leaderships. Serves on at least one GME subcommittee annually.
8. Maintains accurate records on all current and former house staff necessary to verify successful completion of residency program using the Residency Management Software Prepares all cyclical reports for residents, staff and attending physicians. Maintains discretion relative to confidential and sensitive residency/fellowship issues.
9. Internal contacts include physicians, administration, and employees. External customers include various medical education accreditation agencies and federal, state and local regulatory agencies for medical education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess knowledge of medical education coordination as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor’s degree in business, human relations or related field.
Must have C-TAGME or acquire the certification within two years. Must possess or obtain active Notary Public commission within 90 days of hire.
Must possess an understanding of graduate medical education as normally demonstrated with five years of experience in a healthcare related field. Requires strong research and organizational abilities. Requires excellent interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to guide and lead others. Requires demonstrated negotiation and persuasion skills.

This position is also responsible for a variety of clerical and administrative support functions and customer service for an assigned patient care area which promote an organized, efficient delivery of care to patients.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. 3. Provides support in the acquisition and distribution of digital patient records. Digitizes, formats, and uploads film-based or digital images into PACS. Maintains accurate filling system as required based on established department protocols and procedures.
4. Fulfills requests for images and reports ensuring availability in system, hard copy (film), and/or CD as required and follows proper protocols for releasing confidential patient information.
5. Receives patient in applicable systems, confirms patient demographics and insurance information and performs insurance verification when required. May be required to calculate and collect copays, deductibles, and self-pay. Totals charges on patient’s super-bill at check-out. Enters pending discharges into the system. Coordinates patient appointments for procedures and treatments that may be required prior to timely discharge. Processes patient discharges. Coordinates transportation to care centers and residential homes as requested by patients or physicians.
6. Prints physician schedules, super-bills, labels and other applicable forms in preparation for next business day. Pulls and files patient charts and prepares new patient charts as needed. Prints and files transcription notes. Reconciles charge tickets to each day's schedule, identifies incomplete tickets, missing charge codes or missing diagnosis and notifies clinical staff. Forwards completed tickets and/or billing package to the business office or billing company.
7. Assists technologists and nurses in pre and post procedure room preparation by obtaining necessary supplies and assisting patients as necessary. Ensures procedure rooms are stocked appropriately. Understand sterile procedure and assists with setting up sterile trays, where applicable. Adheres to radiation safety policies. Escorts patients back to the patient exam rooms, takes vitals and patient history; may assist with patient treatment to include peripheral IV insertion, IV discontinuation and Point of Care Testing (POCT) if required by the assigned facility (completion of Banner’s peripheral IV insertion course and validation of skill must be completed prior to any peripheral IV insertion and discontinuation performed. 3. Monitors and performs routine maintenance on landscape sprinkler/irrigation systems. Repairs, adds and replaces irrigation system components as needed.
4. Coordinates the preventative maintenance program of all grounds tools and equipment to include cleaning, sharpening, minor tune-ups, charging, and function checks.

As the Postpartum RN, you will be part of the team that provides multidisciplinary obstetrical care to low and high risk postpartum patients and normal newborns. Patient education and lactation support are a major focus in the postpartum area.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing personalized coordination, clarification and communication of all financial aspects of care continuum, including insurance and authorization verification, registration, financial counseling and claims research for Oncology. This position partners with the clinical care team to determine financial impact for the patient and serves as the primary contact for any financial questions related to a patient’s care across the entire continuum of their treatment, ensuring a seamless experience for the patient and their family.

Accurately and completely documents all information into the patient records system to ensure maximum reimbursement. Monitors and updates information regarding insurance data, authorizations, preferred providers and changes in patient’s treatment plan. 3. Provides financial counseling to patients and their families and serves as the primary resource throughout the patient’s treatment. Discusses benefits and other financial issues with patients and/or family members during initial referral and during continuation of care. Advises patients on insurance and billing issues and options. Explains company financial policies and provides information as to available resources and avenues for alternative payment arrangements. Assists patients, families and team members in addressing insurance coverage gaps via alternative funding options.
4. Provides financial advocacy, assistance and support to patients and families, as needed. Assists patients who are un-insured to access other funding resources and completes required documents. Maintains current working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and other program benefits and criteria, particularly as they pertain to long-term care and low-income patients. May serve as a liaison between the facility and community in making community resources available to the patient and family.
5. Acts as a liaison between patient/PFS department/payer to enhance account receivables performance, resolve outstanding issues and/or patient concerns, and to maximize service excellence.
6. Calculates patient liability according to verification of insurance benefits, collects deposits and co-payments.
7. May provide leadership and training to other members of the financial team and serves as a resource for internal and external customers.
8. Works independently under general supervision, leads and follows structured work routines. Works in a fast paced, multi task environment with high volume and immediacy needs requiring independent decision making and sound judgment to prioritize work and ensure appropriateness and timeliness of each patient’s care. POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for supporting nurse leadership in the planning, development and execution of facility education for clinicians, supporting the on-boarding and orientation of newly hired registered nurses, career development and effective internal clinical communications. CORE FUNCTIONS

Position provides treatment in one or more of the following areas: substance abuse, emotional and behavioral issues, eating disorders and other mental disorders as outlined in the "Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders" (DSM).
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Provides assessment and direct psychotherapy to individuals, families, and groups. Coordinates all aspects of patient care from admission to discharge, interacting with the physician and other members of the clinical treatment team to provide quality patient care.Must be independently licensed in Arizona to bill out appropriate CPT codes for independently license clinicians.
2. Provides education and orientation for patients, families and others to assigned treatment program to aid in therapeutic process. Collaborates with the patient in the development of a written treatment plan. Includes patient and family involvement in assessment, treatment, education and discharge planning.
3. Monitors patients on an ongoing basis to continually assess needs and facilitate treatment and interventions. Documents clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment plan, diagnostic summaries, and progress charting in a timely manner to assure comprehensive and quality patient care.
4. Actively participates as member of the multidisciplinary treatment team and maintains effective working relationships with physicians and peers.
5. May provide clinical updates to representatives of managed care to assure coordination and reimbursement of treatments services. May conduct cognitive testing and document results.
6. Coordinates with community-based providers to assure optimal levels of care post discharge and to maximize treatment outcomes.
7. Provides critical assessments and appropriate treatment plan; Manages and provides direct care of patients in behavioral health treatment program (may be specialty area or across disciplines). Monitors, reassesses and documents treatment programs. Interacts with patients, families, groups, all levels of clinical staff in assigned program, physicians. External contacts include managed care providers, community resources, and referral agencies.
8. May provide indirect supervision to associate level therapists to support the process of becoming independently licensed. This may include weekly supervision and appropriate documentation.
9. May be required to review and sign off on clinical documentation, such as treatment plans and assessments from non-licensed staff within 72 business hours of completion.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires a Master's degree in counseling, behavioral health, or a related human services field, or educational requirement as mandated by state board in order to maintain licensure in field of specialty.
Behavioral Health Licensure is required in field of specialty as mandated by state board or regulatory agency. Depending on area of focus, may require a License in Clinical Social Work (LCSW) as mandated by state board.
Requires a proficiency level typically achieved with 2 years experience in a behavioral health setting. Requires ability to work with a diverse population along with interpersonal skills and knowledge required in treating patients in area of assigned specialty.
Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral or BUMG, BUMCT in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire. Employees working at BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.
