Greet patients, ensure patient safety using positive identification protocols, verify insurance, and process registration quickly and compassionately.

On-call shifts and Holidays will be required.
All Acute Patient Access Services new hires are required to attend New Hire Orientation & PAS New Hire Training beginning on their start for approximately 2-4 weeks and can run Monday - Friday standard daytime business hours and will vary from the posted schedule until training is completed (regardless of your hired shift/hours).

Additionally, the campus responsibilities include fully integrated multi-specialty and sub-specialty clinics.POSITION SUMMARY
This position is the first point of contact at healthcare facilities and assists patients with the administrative aspect of gaining access to medical treatment. This position is in a hospital-based setting which includes Emergency Dept, Inpatient, Obstetrics, Outpatient, etc. Responsible for in person patient intake and registration, providing superior customer service, accurately identifying, and obtaining authorizations patients’ insurance, verifying eligibility and benefits, generating patient estimates for services rendered, financial counseling, and collecting patient liability. Demonstrates the ability to resolve customer issues and provides excellent customer service.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Verifies patient’s demographics and accurately inputs this information into EHR, including documenting the account thoroughly to maximize reimbursement and minimize denials/penalties from the payor(s).
2. Proficiency with multiple services including, but not limited to inpatient, observation, emergency, obstetrics, surgery, imaging. This position may cover services 24/7.
3. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of insurance guidelines for all services. Proficiently verifies, reads, and understands insurance benefits.
4. Demonstrates proficient understanding that this position creates the first impression for our patient's experience with Banner Health. Demonstrates a positive patient experience through interactions and effective communication.
5. Proficient understanding of payer authorization guidelines. Accurately submits timely notification according to insurance guidelines using various systems to reduce/eliminate denials. Consistently meets all registration related key performance indicators as determined by management.
6. Obtains federal/state compliance information, consents and documentation required by the patient’s insurance plan(s). This includes a thorough understanding of accurately completing hospital-based compliance forms required by CMS. Uses multiple computer applications proficiently.
7. Consistently discusses financial liability with the patient(s) and/or families that includes: collection in full of patient liability, assisting patient in applying for Banner Line of Credit, setting up payment plans and/or assisting patient with Banner Financial Assistance policy/application.
8. Provides a variety of patient services and financial services tasks. May be assigned functions such as transporting patients, training new hire employees, recapping daily deposits, posting daily deposits, or conducting other work assignments of the Patient Access Services team.
9. Works independently under regular supervision and follows structured work routines. Works in a high-volume, fast paced, clinical environment which requires to ability to be adaptable, critical thinking, and independent decision making and to prioritize work and ensure appropriateness and timeliness of each patient’s care. Primary external customers include patients and their families, physician office staff and third-party payors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED is required.
Must have customer service skills or knowledge of patient financial services, financial, collecting services or insurance industry experience processes normally acquired over one or more years of work experience.
Requires the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision and to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Requires strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to effectively interact with a wide range of audiences. Strong knowledge in the use of common office software, word processing, spreadsheet, database software, and typing ability are required.
Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral, and BUMG, BUMCT, or BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s degreepreferred.
CRCR (Certified Revenue Cycle Representative) certification, a credential offered by the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA)
CHAA (Certified Healthcare Access Associate) certification, a credential offered by the National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM)
Knowledge of medical terminology or healthcare systems.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

Banner - University Medical Center South is a comprehensive academic medical center that includes an Emergency department, a state-designated trauma center and a Behavioral Health Pavilion. We are an Arizona Department of Health Services-accredited Cardiac Receiving Center and a Nurses Improving Care for Health system Elders-designated senior-friendly hospital. The hospital is staffed by physicians who are full-time faculty of the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson and is managed by Banner Health under an operating agreement with Pima County. Our specialty services include inpatient and outpatient behavioral health, treatment and education for diabetes, innovative geriatrics care and comprehensive orthopedics.POSITION SUMMARY
This position works as a member of the food service team on one or more assignments in cleaning, food preparation, patient trayline or retail café. Provides service and assistance to patients, staff and other customers in accordance with established dietary and retail cafe policies and procedures.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Sets up work station and prepares all assigned foods and nourishments in the correct quantities, following established procedures, portion control and food quality standards. Assures that food presentation continually meets standards.
2. Cleans and sanitizes dishes, flatware, trays, cups, glasses and cooking utensils. Also cleans and sanitizes designated equipment and kitchen areas disposing of all waste materials. Monitors dish machine temperature.
3. Maintains par levels of foods and/or supplies in assigned areas, orders and/or restocks items in accordance with established routines, rotates food stocks, checks expiration dates.
4. Checks and records food and equipment temperatures according to defined procedures, and reports any discrepancies to the supervisor.
5. May deliver meals, nourishments, late trays and/or tube feedings to units; return excess nourishments as requested. May also assist in catering or special event service.
6. May handle transactions at cash register (if applicable) and/or cafe.
7. This position interacts with other food service department personnel, hospital staff, patients and families. Requires the ability to follow a work routine with regular supervision, to work quickly and correctly while providing good customer service and maintaining sanitation standards. The work requires the ability to follow instructions and guidelines for the use of cleaning chemicals and be able to work in physical contact with them.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires the ability to learn and follow established policy and procedures, read and understand written and verbal instruction, to communicate effectively and to provide customer service. POSITION SUMMARY
This position will design, develop, and deliver internal and external training programs for Banner Plan Network department. This hybrid role combines strategic curriculum design with a mix of remote work and essential on-site facilitation. CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Health Plan Curriculum Design: Leads the design and development of innovative training programs, ensuring materials meet health plan regulatory compliance, member safety guidelines, and clinical standards.
2. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partners with health plan leadership, clinical educators, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs like doctors, nurses, or health plan specialists) to translate clinical protocols into clear learning pathways to align training with organizational goals.
3. Assess training needs through collaboration with department leaders and performance data analysis.
4. Maintains and updates training curriculum to reflect policy changes and regulatory updates.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires knowledge, skills, and abilities as typically obtained through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Instructional Design, Social Work, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
Requires 4+ years of specialized training experience and curriculum development experience in healthcare or ed-tech, or related field, with at least 2+ years specifically within a healthcare, or clinical setting.
One certification in any of the following evidence-based practices: Trauma-Informed Care, Grief & Loss, Cultural Competency & Diversity, Crisis De-escalation, Motivational Interviewing, ASIST 12 or SafeTalk, Suicide Intervention (QPR) etc.
Ability to translate complex ideas into clear, engaging, and effective educational content in curriculum development and instructional design.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The Banner Health New Nurse Experience is a full-time Registered Nurse position that assists you in transitioning from a new graduate to a fully competent, professional nurse at Banner Health. This program provides a collaborative learning environment in which you can refine your nursing skills, enhance your knowledge, and develop new personal and professional relationships.
Successful candidates will be placed in specific units at Banner Health facilities to be clinically mentored by unit staff and educators. We offer all of our New Grads multiple Career Pathways and development opportunities to achieve your long-term career goals. Whether you are wanting to go into a specialty unit, leadership roles, non-bedside nursing opportunities, or any other sector of nursing - we will help you get there! The expectation is that you will stay on your NNE unit for at least 12 months to get a full and comprehensive training experience! Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.

Current TNCC required; ATCN preferred. Instructor status in either or both is highly desired. For burn programs, current ABLS certification required.
Minimum of five years clinical experience in a high patient acuity area including experience in related areas specific to clinical specialty, including trauma, pediatric, or burn for burn specific programs. Minimum two years supervisory or leadership experience. Must have American Trauma Society (ATS) TPM course and TOPIC course completed within six months of hire.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides leadership and expertise to the representatives providing customer service to providers and members of benefit plans; supports the development of the company health plans as well as the staff by coordinating the training, documentation, client communication techniques, and other resources necessary to ensure an excellent quality of service. This position serves as a primary resource in complex and/or sensitive cases and takes escalated calls. May be assigned to work in a variety of team leadership, work flow management and/or quality assurance functions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
Must have substantial previous related work experience in managed care benefits member/provider services work are required, with three to fours years of experience in a high volume service center or managed care environment, preferably with self-insured plans.
Must possess excellent communication skills to handle moderately complex inquiries, while maintaining a positive and helpful attitude. Requires the ability to handle a high volume of incoming calls, search the database or resources tools for correct and timely information, and maintain a professional demeanor all times. Must have the ability to learn and effectively use the company’s customer information systems, as well as developing and maintaining a fundamental knowledge of the organization’s benefit plans.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position selects and places surgical instruments, supplies and equipment during surgery. Scrubs and provides instruments, sutures, and other sterile supplies during surgical procedure.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Prepares for surgical procedures. Pulls appropriate instruments and supplies and ensures good working order of instruments. Reviews case carts for correct instruments and supplies. Plans ahead for upcoming surgical case needs.

4. Ensures that all surgeon preference cards and pick lists are accurate.
5. Assists with OR turnover between cases. Participates in stocking, replenishing supplies and cleaning operating rooms.
6. May provide business support to the department including assigned administrative tasks.
7. This position follows safety procedures in regards to medication labeling, appropriate handling of specimens, appropriate handling of sharps, time-out procedure, radiation and laser safety, infection control, assembling and disassembling instruments. Participates in emergency call rotation. Internal customers are patients, surgeons, and nursing staff. External customers may include practicing physicians and patient families.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Partnering with the Risk Finance Senior Director, this role is accountable for developing, implementing, and optimizing comprehensive risk financing strategies that directly impact Banner Health's financial performance and organizational risk exposure across all facilities and multiple state jurisdictions. This role serves as a subject matter expert and strategic architect for all aspects of risk mitigation, evaluation, risk transfer, and risk financing programs. This position designs and executes innovative self-insurance solutions, develops captive insurance policies and endorsements, and ensures regulatory compliance across complex multi-state requirements (AZ, CO, WY, WA, and expanding markets) for workers compensation, auto liability, and other self-insured programs. With enterprise-wide accountability, this position maintains self-insurance program continuity, drives operational excellence, and identifies strategic process improvements that enhance organizational performance outcomes.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Provides strategic leadership and direction for the self-insurance/captive management function and team by recruiting, developing, and retaining top talent through comprehensive hiring, training, performance management, and workflow optimization. Drives organizational resilience by building robust talent pipelines and succession plans for mission-critical self-insurance functions, ensuring business continuity, sound financial stewardship and operational excellence. Serves as a key strategic partner in shaping and executing departmental goals and objectives that align with enterprise priorities. Accountability for ensuring all strategic initiatives and objectives are achieved with precision, timeliness, and measurable impact, positioning the team as a cornerstone of organizational success.
2. Develops and executes enterprise-wide self-insurance strategy aligned with Banner Health's overall risk management objectives and financial goals, with direct impact on organizational liability exposure across all facilities. This includes development and oversight of the Banner Indemnity, Ltd. (BIL) policies and endorsements. Revise existing and implement new programs when needed. Make recommendations and work closely with the actuaries, captive managers, and regulatory agencies. Work collaboratively with department leadership and executive team to promote the understanding of the self-insurance program. Provide education on Banner’s self-insured program to Risk Management staff and other Banner Health employees when needed. Establishes and administers process for risk transfer and risk assumption. Analyze the benefits of risk transfer versus risk retention or a combination of both. Assist with the development of a funding mechanism for the captive insurance program and the funding allocation model for the system.
3. Reviews and responds to financial responsibility statutes applicable to hospitals and other entities governed by the states where Banner Health is self-insured. This position is responsible for filing annual and quarterly reports for Arizona and Colorado, Wyoming and Washington and any other state in which Banner is or becomes self-insured. This position provides the required information and cooperates with any state audit of Banner self-insured workers compensation program. Supervise and analyze the collection of exposure and loss information for actuarial analysis. Lead and support internal and external audits by writing narratives and coordinating with the captive manager to gather and compile requested policy information, premium allocation and captive practices.
4. Develops and implements a comprehensive underwriting program including but not limited to policies, processes and procedures. Oversees and manages the underwriting of prior acts policies for physicians and other policies as needed. Develops and calculates premiums and federal excise tax for various policies. Formulates recommendations for insurance coverages for physicians and captive policies. Articulates strategy to management regarding the policies written for the captive. Address state and federal regulatory requirements related to self-insurance.
5. Serves as primary subject matter expert and strategic advisor to senior leadership and captive board on all self-insurance matters, leading board presentations and providing recommendations that influence organizational risk strategy. Oversee the development, coordination, and distribution of board materials for the captive insurance program, ensuring timely delivery of accurate and comprehensive information to board members. Coordinate all aspects of semi-annual board meetings, including agenda development, logistics, and stakeholder engagement.
6. Establishes and defines strategic processes and frameworks for self-insurance operations across the organization. Responsibilities extend across organizational lines, requiring extensive interaction and involvement throughout the facilities. Provides executive oversight and strategic direction for all self-insurance regulatory compliance across multiple states ensuring adherence to complex and evolving state-specific requirements while maintaining operational efficiency. Establishes and promotes teamwork and collaboration between senior leaders, sponsors, individuals, departments and the entire organization in the development of system wide standardized operational practice, strategy, and initiatives.
7. Designs, implements, and continuously innovates comprehensive risk assessment programs, including the physician eligibility program ensuring consistent and comprehensive evaluation of physician candidates for professional liability and malpractice risk. Partner closely with recruiting, credentialing, medical staff services and other key stakeholders to facilitate timely reviews, communicate program requirements, and support informed hiring decisions. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess the knowledge typically demonstrated through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Legal Studies, Business or a related field and must have 7-10 years of experience in risk management.
Excellent working knowledge of PCs and software, including word-processing, spreadsheet, query/report writing and presentation applications. Must have a high level of experience in working as a functional “super-user” of an application in a similar department environment or providing consultative input for application usage or design.
Must have excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with departmental personnel and assist customers with inquiries.
