Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job
Participates in the assessment, administration, and evaluation of respiratory therapy treatments, pulmonary function testing, performs extubations, airway management and ventilatory life support to critical adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients
Participates with other health care professionals in obtaining, interpreting and evaluating pulmonary function tests, arterial blood gases, airway management and respiratory treatments
Provides instruction to patients in the use of respiratory therapy equipment, inhalation gases and other therapies related to the treatment of respiratory diseases and/or the promotion of respiratory wellness
Other Functions
Responsible for the cleaning, care and maintenance of all equipment used in the delivery of respiratory treatments and pulmonary function testing
Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not require supervisory responsibilities.
Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required
Equivalent to graduation from high school and successful completion of an approved school of Respiratory Therapy.
Credentialed by the NBRC as a Certified Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist at time of hire.
Respiratory Therapy license from any state
High school diploma or GED
Basic Life Support
ACLS & PALS required within 3 months of hire
Clinical Competency required within 3 months of hire and every three years
High Risk Competency required within 3 months of hire and every year
Experience Required
Two years’ experience as a certified Respiratory Therapist preferred.
Knowledge of
Respiratory care modalities for adults, pediatrics, and neonatal patients
Skills in
Use of mechanical ventilators skillfully and offers alternative solutions; cardiopulmonary resuscitation
Ability to
Accurately interpret arterial blood gases; use of mechanical ventilators; work alone/unsupervised
Work under adverse conditions such as communicable infectious diseases
Travel Required
Up to 25% travel expected.

The RN collaborates with providers and interdisciplinary teams to promote optimal patient outcomes, safety, and positive patient experience.
The Ambulatory Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive, patient‑centered nursing care in an outpatient clinic setting, supporting individuals and families across the continuum of care. This role utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care; administer medications and treatments; perform clinical procedures; and provide patient education and care coordination in collaboration with providers and interdisciplinary teams. The Ambulatory RN ensures accurate documentation, adherence to infection control and regulatory standards, and efficient clinic operations while promoting quality outcomes, patient safety, and culturally responsive care in a fast‑paced ambulatory environment.

Performs comprehensive patient assessments and develops individualized plans of care.
Implements and evaluates nursing interventions and patient responses.

Nursing Judgment & Clinical Decision-Making (Alaska BON-Aligned)
Consistent with the Alaska Board of Nursing scope of practice for Registered Nurses, nursing judgment is essential to the safe, effective, and accountable delivery of nursing care. The Registered Nurse independently applies critical thinking and professional judgment to:
Perform and interpret comprehensive assessments and recognize significant changes in patient condition requiring nursing intervention or provider notification.
Exercise independent nursing judgment in determining appropriate nursing actions, interventions, and priorities, and in identifying when consultation, collaboration, or escalation to a licensed independent provider is required.
Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise individualized nursing plans of care based on patient needs, responses, preferences, and clinical circumstances, rather than relying solely on standardized protocols.
Integrate clinical findings with ethical principles, cultural considerations, patient safety standards, and regulatory requirements when making nursing decisions.
Accept accountability for nursing decisions, delegated tasks, and outcomes of nursing care in accordance with Alaska statutes, regulations, and organizational policy.
Care Coordination & Documentation
Collaborates with providers and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care.
Facilitates referrals, follow-up care, and continuity of services.
Documents assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely in the electronic health record.

Qualifications
Education & Licensure
Associate’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Alaska or other U.S. state required. Direct Hire must have applied for an Alaska nursing license at time of hire. Agency staff must have an active Alaska license.
Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
Case Management certification - preferred.
Clinical competency required within 3 months and every 3 years.
High Risk Competency required within 3 months and every year.
New Nursing Program Graduates:
BLS required at the time of hire
All certifications required for the area of practice must be obtained within six (6) months of hire (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC, as applicable)
Experienced Nurses - New to a Specialty Area:
Experienced nurses entering a new specialty must obtain all required specialty‑specific and advanced certifications within six (6) months of hire (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC, based on practice area requirements)
Experienced Nurses:
Nurses hired directly into a specialty area must provide evidence of current required certifications for the position at the time of hire (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC, as applicable to practice area)
Nurses with Float Areas:
Nurses who float to areas other than their primary location must complete the required certifications for the highest level specialty in which they will provide care
High‑Risk Competency:
High‑risk competency validation is required for direct patient care nursing roles. The high-risk competencies are specific to the area of practice (e.g., proficiency in complex medical equipment, procedures, interventions, etc.). Competency will be assessed before ending initial preceptorship and no less than annually thereafter.

* Monitor individual’s progress to determine the effect of intervention and need for continuation, modification, or termination of service
* Perform any other duties that are from time to time deemed necessary under clinic policies and procedures
* Develop constructive and cooperative working relationship with supervisor and other staff
*III. Core Requirements*
* Provide clinical supervision to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants and/or graduate students in accordance with federal and state laws, AOTA standards, and clinic policy

The Southcentral Foundation (SCF) Physician is responsible for providing direct clinical customer care and works with other clinical staff to establish medical protocols and treatment regimens.
The Fireweed Behavioral Health Outpatient clinic focuses on approaches that are trauma informed, systems based, and person-centered. - Maintain accountability of assigned cash drawer and ensure accurate tracking of all transactions
- Reconcile daily cash collections and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Meet or exceed established front-end collection performance metrics
- Prepare and secure daily deposits in accordance with organizational procedures
- Collaborate with leadership to ensure compliance with financial controls and audit standards
Medical Records & Documentation
- Prepare patient charts and records for upcoming visits (electronic and/or paper workflows)
- Scan and index clinical and administrative documents into the EMR
- Process requests for medical records in compliance with privacy regulations
- Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and aligned with clinical and billing requirements
Team Collaboration & Operational Excellence
- Partner effectively with clinical staff, leadership, and support teams to ensure seamless operations
- Support workflow improvements and contribute to operational efficiency initiatives

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 3 years of administrative or customer service experience, with at least 1 year in a healthcare or medical office setting preferred
