II. Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. Current Massachusetts Nursing licensure and registration.
2. BLS through either American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) is a requirement for every RN within 30 days of hire.
3. ACLS through American Heart Association (AHA) required in select areas (Gannett, MP1, ICU, ED, Cath Lab, Endo, IR, PACU, Float Pool) within 6 months or first scheduled course offering whichever is sooner.
4. PALS through American Heart Association (AHA) required in select areas (PACU, ED) within 6 months or first scheduled course offering whichever is sooner.
5. NRP Advanced Provider through American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) required in select areas (Maternity) within 6 months or first scheduled course offering whichever is sooner.
Preferred:
1. Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing highly preferred.
Experience/Skills:

1. Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing.

The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer utilizes high frequency sound waves (diagnostic ultrasound) along with color and spectral Doppler ultrasound to assist in the diagnosis of a variety of conditions and diseases. - Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients.
- Introduces self to patient, properly identifies patient utilizing two identifiers, explains the sonographic examination being performed and answers any patient questions; assumes responsibility for the safety and comfort of the patient while they are in the sonographer’s care; notifies appropriate personnel if assistance is needed.
- Selects and operates a wide variety of imaging equipment in an efficient and safe manner, coordinates examinations in the most efficient order and perform exams in a sequence which minimizes the patient’s stay in the hospital.

The Business Services Representative is responsible for ensuring patient flow within the practice by performing all business functions such as greeting patients, answering phones, scheduling patient appointments, patient registration, insurance verification, copay and point of service collections, pre-certifications, prior authorizations, referrals, chart prep, manage incoming and outgoing faxes as well as provide clerical support to providers and staff.
What you will do:
- Greets and communicates with patients via phone or in person in a courteous and professional manner identifying themselves and their department.
- Answers telephones in a timely, courteous, and professional manner utilizing appropriate scripting.
- Processes calls to ensure patients are transferred to the appropriate staff member/provider in a timely manner.
- Schedules patient appointments based on department protocols to maximize provider productivity.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience within a medical office or billing department preferred. Knowledge of patient billing and medical terminology preferred
- Excellent keyboard skills. Requires proficiency in a Windows based computer environment and Microsoft Office products. Accuracy and dependability required.

The PSR plays a crucial role in connecting a variety of departments for the overall success of the patient’s experience and the organization’s financial success. Often works without direct supervision present.
Major Responsibilities:
Creates the initial electronic health record that serves as the foundation of the patient medical record that is utilized by all members of the healthcare team. Prevents creation of duplicate medical records that can cause treatment safety issues and billing problems. Follows and ensures compliance with the mandate of the organization’s accrediting bodies to use identifiers to positively identify a patient prior to the delivery of patient care to ensure patient safety.
Checks in and registers patients; obtains and verifies complete demographic, guarantor, and insurance information; discusses and collects co-pays and other out-of-pocket patient responsibilities. Obtaining accurate information at the point of registration helps ensure timely payment to the organization and prevents billing issues and patient complaints. Maintains complete confidentiality regarding patient personal/financial information and medical records in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Knows insurance basics and recognizes commercial and government plans. Understands which plans Advocate Health contracts with and when a statement of financial responsibility is needed. Understands and discusses financial information and obligations with patients. Knows how and when to refer patients to Financial Advocates.
Has knowledge of which rules, forms and questions must be enforced to make sure Advocate Health remains compliant with government agencies and regulations. Examples are HIPAA, Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA), Consent for Treatment, Patient Rights and Responsibilities, Important Message from Medicare (IMM), Medicare Outpatient Observation Notice (MOON), Notice of Privacy Practices, Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire (MSPQ), Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN). Obtains patient or guarantor signatures as required.
May schedule patient appointments: may also coordinate cancellations, reschedules, wait list requests, and recall requests. Provides accurate, detailed information regarding test preparations, patient arrival time, medication/food/beverage consumption guidelines, check-in procedures, directions to facility, etc.
Creates a welcoming and professional environment for our patients and visitors by demonstrating extraordinary customer service. Greets patients and visitors and responds to routine requests for information. Answers telephone, screens calls, and takes messages. Offers various assistance to patients to include arranging transportation needs, providing directions, locating a wheelchair, coordinating interpreter services, etc.
Monitors and works assigned electronic health record work queues, following the department’s approved process.

Job Summary:
Using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion and skilled dialogue, the registered nurse leads efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience. The nurse delivers and coordinates patient-centered care across the continuum to support the successful transition of patients to other healthcare delivery systems or their home communities. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with Current IL RN license
BSN preferred, ADN acceptable with agreement for nurses with less than 12 months of experience to enroll in BSN completion program to be completed in four years. Nurses with more than 12 months experience in direct patient care must possess a BSN or obtain either BSN or Advocate Aurora Health (AAH) recognized nursing certification within one year of the date of hire or becoming eligible to sit for certification, whichever is later.
