The RN is responsible for assessing, implementing, and evaluating care for various patients within the facility. Reports directly to the Clinical Director of the unit. This position works in conjunction with other members of nursing service, ancillary services, physicians, patients, and families. It collaborates with various members of the healthcare team to ensure quality of care across the continuum. Requires the ability to be self-directed and quality focused. Interpersonal communication skills are a necessary function of this position. A critical care background essential..

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES
Nursing Patient Assessment & Evaluation (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate the ability to assess and evaluate patients in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Conducts primary care patient interviews and physical examinations. Demonstrates sufficient acumen to recognize problems, ask questions and to contact the patient's primary care provider and other members of the healthcare team. Has experience in gathering pertinent clinical data that aid in referral, treatment, or other primary care pathways.
Nursing Patient Education (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency in providing patient education in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
Care Planning (Novice): Demonstrates ability to anticipate resource needs, identify distinct tasks, set priorities, schedule activities, meet deadlines, and organize work within areas of direct responsibility. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assessment of Health Status:
Performs and documents in the medical record a complete history and physical examination.

Job Summary:
As a Clinical Scientist Assistant II, you will serve as a senior scientific and operational leader within Dr. William Heerman’s research program. In this role, you’ll provide scientific oversight and administrative leadership across multiple federally funded and foundation-supported studies focused on pediatric obesity prevention, physical activity, nutrition, and community-based health interventions.
Working independently with general guidance from the Principal Investigator, you’ll use advanced scientific knowledge and judgment to help drive the success of the research portfolio. You will oversee key components of the program, including research implementation, regulatory compliance, personnel supervision, grant development, dissemination of findings, and coordination of center-level activities.
You’ll also function in a chief-of-staff–type capacity for the laboratory—helping ensure that scientific priorities and day-to-day operations stay aligned. This includes supporting strong execution across projects, maintaining high staff performance, and promoting effective stakeholder and community partner engagement.
In addition, you will supervise research personnel, coordinate work across investigators and community partners, and play a substantial role in producing manuscripts, grant proposals, and scientific presentations that advance the impact of the program.
Schedule and location: You will generally work a traditional daytime schedule Monday through Friday. Flexibility is key, however, as occasional inquiries may need your attention during evenings and weekends. Your office will be located at 2146 Belcourt Ave., Nashville, TN, with the option to work remotely from home a couple of days per week.
Required qualifications: You will need a Ph.D. and at least three years of relevant experience, along with the advanced scientific expertise necessary to support the expanding scope and complexity of this research program.

The Application Analyst role is responsible for system build, maintenance, minor enhancements, and project work related to the Epic Inpatient Orders application. This role is responsible for building and maintaining printer and workstation mapping in Epic and supports resolving issues from order transmittal error queues. What You'll Do
As a Certified Hand Therapist, you will provide advanced occupational therapy services focused on restoring upper extremity function and maximizing patient outcomes.
Perform comprehensive hand and upper extremity evaluations
Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans
Design and progress therapeutic exercise programs
Fabricate and modify custom orthoses and splints
Deliver post-surgical rehabilitation following tendon repairs, fractures, nerve procedures, and ligament reconstructions
Utilize advanced manual therapy and therapeutic interventions
Educate patients on injury management, home programs, and return-to-work strategies
Collaborate closely with hand surgeons, orthopedic providers, and rehabilitation colleagues
Maintain accurate documentation in Epic EMR

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Analyzes comprehensive information from formal and informal assessment that is pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine a rehabilitation treatment diagnosis.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES
• Rehab Therapist Patient Documentation (Intermediate): Demonstrates proficiency in documentation practices. Documents in the appropriate templates and utilizes only approved abbreviations within patient documentation. Meets institutional standards for quality and timeliness of documentation. May complete accurate chart audits of co-workers in the same classification category
• Treatment Planning & Goal Setting (Intermediate): Demonstrates mastery in developing a plan of care that incorporates treatment interventions focused on meeting objective goals. Develops and documents patient focused short and long term goals that are functional and measurable. Identifies the need for and referral to other services, as needed. May serve as a mentor for other clinical staff to develop their skills in treatment planning. May consult with team members or implement new procedures.
• Rehabilitation Therapist Patient Evaluation (Intermediate): Demonstrates mastery in evaluating patients with physical deficits including impairments, developmental disabilities, functional limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function by obtaining information pertinent to the assessment and administering and scoring standardized tests and objective measures of deficit areas. Selects appropriate measures and performs a functional assessment to document patient's status requiring skilled therapy. Interprets the results of the assessment and their significance to the patient, family, referring physician and other members of the health care team. Demonstrates experience in clinical evaluation skills and may serve as a mentor for other clinical staff to develop their skills in evaluation techniques. Contributes to the development of best practices for the organization. May consult with team members to implement new procedures.
• Treatment Implementation (Intermediate): Demonstrates mastery in providing treatment consistent with physician prescription and established plan of care. Able to modify treatment plan as needed to demonstrate provision of skilled therapy services including progression of treatment throughout course of care, and revision of treatment interventions of goals not met. Supervises and directs certified athletic trainers (PT only), physical therapist / occupational therapist assistants, technicians and volunteers and students. Selects and follows correct protocol for care, as established, and actively seek out, utilize and mentor/teach others on current evidence based treatment strategies. May consult with team members to offer suggestions for treatment strategies. May serve as a clinical content expert for practice area, initiates consultation with team members for advanced treatment of patients, develop forum for staff members to utilize clinical expertise.
• Physical/Occupational Therapist Patient Education (Intermediate): Demonstrates mastery in communicating functional impact of assessment findings, treatment interventions, treatment planning diagnosis, and disease process. Able to adapt communication to needs/level of understanding of audience and share appropriate information/literature. May supervise, educate and train students from professional programs of physical therapy, occupational therapy, and athletic training and/or students and staff from other departments. Contributes in the development of patient education best practices for the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accepts and performs patient care duties as assigned by Allied Health Professional
- Answers phone calls from patients and helps direct patient flow
- Keeps patients informed of wait times and/or next steps in their medical processes

- Serves as second MRI personnel necessary for MRI safe coverage within Zone 3 and 4 per ACR and JCAHO requirements; serves as tech extender for CT.

The Scheduler is responsible for making patient appointments following medical practice procedures. Tasks may be integrated into another position e.g., receptionist/registration or medical assistant, as needed..
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedules appointments for patients either by phone when they call in or in person after an office visit. If medical practice offers after-hours/one-day appointments, schedules these appointments following urgent/emergency protocols as in the case of a sick child, which may mean scheduling the patient with a physician or nurse practitioner other than their primary physician.
- Uses manual/computerized system to match physician/clinician availability with patient’s preferences in terms of date and time.
- Maintains scheduling system so records are accurate and complete and can be used to analyze patient/staffing patterns. Provides daily schedules to physicians/clinicians or medical assistants prior to each day’s visits. Also provides copies for the receptionist/ registration clerk and others as needed.
- Ensures that updates (e.g., cancellations or additions) are input daily into master schedule.

Position Highlights
- The medical ICU and medicine stepdown Clinical Pharmacist will be responsible for delivering comprehensive pharmaceutical care to adult critically ill patients and patients requiring intermediate level care at Vanderbilt University Hospital.
- Clinical services provided include but are not limited to participating in interdisciplinary team rounds, code response, completion of pharmacy consults, support at transitions of care, patient education, antimicrobial stewardship, and monitoring of high-risk medication therapies.
- Schedule is Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm with a weekend and holiday rotation.

Patient Experience & Front Desk Operations
- Welcome patients and visitors with a professional, courteous, and empathetic approach
- Manage patient check-in/out processes efficiently while ensuring accurate identification using two identifiers
- Proactively communicate wait times, delays, and updates to patients
- Maintain a clean, organized, and patient-ready reception area
- Demonstrate professionalism and service excellence in all patient-facing interactions
Scheduling & Access Management
- Schedule, confirm, and modify patient appointments in alignment with clinic protocols
- Coordinate referrals, diagnostic testing, and follow-up visits
- Ensure appointments are appropriately linked to provider schedules and patient needs
- Support same-day scheduling and urgent patient requests when appropriate
Communication & Call Management
- Answer incoming calls promptly using established service standards
- Route calls appropriately and document accurate, detailed messages in the EMR
- Manage call transfers and escalation pathways effectively
- Provide clear, accurate information and support to patients, providers, and care teams
Registration, Insurance & Financial Coordination
- Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information using open-ended questioning techniques
- Scan, review, and validate insurance cards, ensuring accurate payer hierarchy (primary/secondary/tertiary)
- Identify referral, authorization, and financial clearance requirements prior to service
- Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances in accordance with policy
- Provide receipts and ensure accurate documentation of all financial transactions
Revenue Cycle & Cash Handling
- Collect payments from self-pay patients and patient coinsurance balances in accordance with organizational policy
- Maintain accountability of assigned cash drawer and ensure accurate tracking of all transactions
- Reconcile daily cash collections and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Meet or exceed established front-end collection performance metrics
- Prepare and secure daily deposits in accordance with organizational procedures
- Collaborate with leadership to ensure compliance with financial controls and audit standards
Medical Records & Documentation
- Prepare patient charts and records for upcoming visits (electronic and/or paper workflows)
- Scan and index clinical and administrative documents into the EMR
- Process requests for medical records in compliance with privacy regulations
- Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and aligned with clinical and billing requirements
Team Collaboration & Operational Excellence
- Partner effectively with clinical staff, leadership, and support teams to ensure seamless operations
- Support workflow improvements and contribute to operational efficiency initiatives
- Demonstrate adaptability and accountability in a dynamic healthcare environment
- Uphold organizational values, service standards, and compliance requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 3 years of administrative or customer service experience, with at least 1 year in a healthcare or medical office setting preferred
