- Clinical responsibilities:
- Assesses, diagnoses, and determines/alters treatment and management plans appropriate for age, acuity and clinical condition via virtual health modalities. This includes ordering, performing and interpreting appropriate diagnostic studies, and prescription of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions and therapies.
- Manages conditions based on clinical indication, evidence-based care, cost effectiveness, and assessment of risks/benefits and alternatives.
- Leverages digital diagnostics and remote physiologic monitoring when indicated.
- Provides health promotion, disease prevention and disease management counseling and education of patients and families.
- Manages patients as part of an interdisciplinary team and within scope of practice. Seeks physician or other healthcare team member consultation or referrals as appropriate. Escalates need for more emergent or specialized care when necessary.
- Maintains accurate, complete, concise, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record. Substantiates and submits professional services consistent with compliant coding and billing practices.
- Facilitates consistent, coordinated care and clear communication among all members of the healthcare team and/or health or community agencies.
- Other responsibilities:
- Participates in quality, safety and peer review initiatives/performance activities, organizational and/or departmental meetings and committees, peer review, and workgroups as necessary.
- Participates in education and/or onboarding of new team members, students, and other health care professionals.
- Seeks experiences to maintain and develop clinical and professional skills and advance the profession within and outside of the organization.
- Maintains standards of productivity, access, face-to-face time, and quality metrics to ensure optimal, safe and timely patient care delivery.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- If Advanced Practice Registered Nurse:
- Active RN, and applicable APRN/NP/APRN-FPA/APNP license(s) in state(s) of practice, AND
- Active national board certification as Nurse Practitioner in area of clinical practice and populations served: Family, Adult and Adult-Gero
- If Physician Assistant:
- Active PA license(s) in state(s) of practice, AND
- Active PA national board certification from National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
- All APRN and Physician Assistant applicants must have:

Education Required:

Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center opened its doors in 1988 and has been growing ever since to meet the health care needs of the communities in the northwest area of metropolitan Phoenix. Our nonprofit acute care hospital has 404 licensed beds and is currently the eighth largest hospital in the Valley. Designed to grow with the community, Banner Del E. Webb has the ability to add an additional 92 beds, growing the campus to nearly 500 beds in the future. Our campus also serves as a base for a BannerAir helicopter.
As a Patient Care Assistant at our facility, you will be part of our Progressive Care Unit! PCU-3D is a 38 bed cardiac telemetry unit. You will provide routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. You can float to all inpatient units in hospital. As the ideal candidate, you will be responsible for on-going patient data collection and documentation in medical records, as well as provide a variety of unit support functions which contribute to the overall efficient operation of the nursing unit/department. Available shifts:
Part-time, Day shift, 2 days per week, 12 hour shifts
Hours: 6:00am-6:30pm

Weekend rotations are required in this role

Enjoy a flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential and an 18%-Night shift differential when applicable
POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. This position is responsible for on-going patient data collection and documentation in the medical records and provides a variety of unit support functions which contribute to the overall efficient operation of the nursing unit/department.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Provides assistance in activities of daily living and completes necessary tasks to promote patient health, including assisting patients with basic hygiene needs, maintaining an optimum level of mobility and providing assistance with nutritional intake as needed.
2. Collects patient specimens and data, including vital signs, input/output and other delegated measurements in accordance with unit/facility policy and standards of care. Documents objective data and routine aspects of patient care. Assists in the transportation of patient specimens.
3. Recognizes and reports abnormalities and/or changes in the patient’s health status and responses to treatment to a licensed professional. Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating to other caregivers the status of patients for which care is provided.
4. Performs procedures and uses equipment as delegated by a licensed professional, consistent with demonstrated competencies and according to state scope of practice; procedures may include blood draws, foley catheters removal, EKGs, and EKG monitoring. Provides necessary supplies, support and assistance to medical staff and patients for unit specific procedures, under the direct supervision of a licensed professional.
5. Performs receptionist/clerical duties to support overall operating efficiency and effective flow of communication and information throughout the department. Participates in the resolution of customer problems or collects necessary data and follows through to appropriate person for problem resolution.
6. Maintains a complete patient record with admission, transfer, and discharge information, progress notes, and consent forms. Ensures that all reports and chart forms are scanned or filed into the patient’s record. Ensures that charting forms are labeled and accessible if they are needed. Maintains adequate supplies of frequently used, patient education materials. Assists in the ordering of patient specimens. May transcribe and process physician orders effectively using the electronic medical record.
7. Maintains adequate levels of office, dietary, and medical supplies and completes requisition forms when supplies need to be ordered. Reconciles supply order upon delivery. Monitors and tracks the use and whereabouts of electronic equipment such as patient ID scanners and lap top computers. Ensures that all are accounted for and in working order.
8. Based on area of assignment may assist with transporting patients, including pre-operative and immediate post-operative patients to critical care unit. Participates in OR room turnover.
9. This position works under supervision and has responsibility for assigned unit only. Incumbents work in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment with a strong focus on customer service. Interacts with staff at all levels throughout the facility, as well as patients, families and physicians
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
Current BLS certification is required. Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in state of practice is required for new hires and transfers. In Tucson: Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in state of practice is required for new hires. Existing Tucson incumbents may not transfer out of their geographical market without meeting the CNA requirement. Requires skills and abilities typically attained with 1 year of medical clerical experience; preferably in a hospital or physician office setting, or prior experience in customer service. Must possess excellent organizational skills, as well as effective human relations and communication skills. Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy and keyboarding skills is required.

Depending on department assignment, receive a minimum passing score of 85% on ECG or EEG test with accurate identification of all lethal cardiac dysrhythmias and epileptiform activity is required. Successful completion of either a unit approved basic electrocardiogram interpretation course or electroencephalographic interpretation course, or on the job training is also required.
Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral, and BUMG, BUMCT, or BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire. Education Requirements:

CLC (certified lactation counselor certification) OR certified breastfeeding counselor (CBC) certification is required. International Board of Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) is expected to be obtained within two years of employment by full time lactation specialists.
Experience Requirements: Two or more years of experience in clinical or community service setting, one of which must have been in the area of maternal-child care. Previous lactation counseling/consulting experience highly desirable.

What you will do:

- Competently operates ultrasound equipment to perform general and/or vascular procedures/studies.
- Accurately differentiates between normal and pathologic findings.
- Reviews patient's medical record to obtain necessary clinical information including patient history, lab results, and physician orders, obtains necessary clinical information from patients, and compares requisitions to physicians' orders to ensure exam accuracy.
- Positions patient and selects proper transducer and technical factors for accurate ultrasound procedures. Adjusts factors to attain the appropriate images. Ensures safety, mental and physical comfort of patient.
- Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
- Accurately identifies and labels images identifying patient name, medical record unit (MRU) number, and location or position of scan on all images.
- Maintains records in accordance with various regulatory agencies and enters patient and study information into the radiology information system, and documents billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.
- Identifies equipment performance issues, communicates to appropriate staff, and evaluates new products and equipment for possible future use.
- Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the
appropriate physician. - Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
Education Required:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited or approved program in Sonography.
Experience Required:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Completion of a minimum of twelve (12) months training in an accredited program in Sonography.
- Clinical competency in abdominal, pelvic and routine vascular exams or those sonographic exams routinely performed by the hiring department. Competency must be verified by the Sonography Program Director.
- Knowledge of and adherence to department, facility, and organization policies and protocols.
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients and caregivers using excellent interpersonal and communication skills
