The Environmental Specialist maintains the environment for the Health System by performing environmental duties in accordance with Regulatory Agency Standards, Infection Control, and Hospital and Department Policies. Responsible for completing and understanding mandatory computer based trainings. Performs all Essential Duties and Responsibilities of an Environmental Aide. Demonstrates required competencies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain areas such as patient towers, public areas, exam rooms, offices, etc., the Environmental Aide's essential duties include:
Cleaning all surfaces
Disinfecting all surfaces
Dusting all surfaces
Replenishing all supplies
Spot cleaning carpet and upholstery
Cleaning up spills
Changing linen and making beds
Operating vacuum cleaning equipment
Dust mopping and damp mopping floors, stairs, and landings
Disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste
Reporting needed equipment repair and all unsafe situations
Identifies safety risks, provides feedback and helps address safety issues.
Actively follows safety policies, procedures and practices.
Assists in establishing and maintaining an environment that is clean and conducive to patients, visitors, and co-workers' well-being and safety.
Demonstrates a positive demeanor that contributes to a culture of trust, respect, and teamwork.
Follows our Service Excellence Standards. Effectively communicates with internal and external customers (i.e. active listening, professionalism, appropriate tone of voice and language).
Assists in the training of staff to perform Environmental Services duties.
Participates in department and unit activities to improve quality and patient care.
Demonstrates professionalism in dress and hygiene.
Follows and adhere to the "fragrance free" policy. Responsible for maintaining knowledge of policy and procedures.
Follows department's plans and scripts.
Completes mandatory Healthstream in a timely manner. Performs duties in compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory requirements.
Assists in keeping corridors clear of clutter, equipment, furniture, etc. for safety and aesthetic purposes.
Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships.
Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution.
Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, colleagues, and visitors. Discusses patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places.
Behaves in accordance with the Code of Conduct, Service Excellence Standards, and the Mission, Vision and Values of SJMH.
Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
Education: High School diploma or GED preferred. Able to speak, read, and write English. Possesses basic math skills.
Experience: Three months customer service or cleaning experience preferred.
Certification/Licensure: Not required.

General Summary:
Responsible for providing supply chain related support and coordination in specialty supply areas for work assignments including, but not limited to receiving, distribution, requisitioning, ordering & resolving supply and equipment-based acquisitions.
Perform routine maintenance & upkeep of one or more computer-based support systems to ensure continuous operational availability to end users.
May perform other non-typical duties to further support end users as deemed necessary by the managing Supply Chain Leader for the assigned site.
Serves as front line supply chain representation / support for site-based meetings, activities, & initiatives.
May include knowledge of all duties described in Technician & Technician Advanced roles.

Minimum Qualifications:
Have received a High School Diploma or equivalent.
Two (2) to three (3) years Supply Chain experience.
Valid driver’s license where required by assignment.
Associate degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain preferred.
Previous Supply Chain experience in a healthcare, warehousing, or other distribution environment preferred.
Previous Supply Chain experience in a Trinity Health facility highly desired.
Be able to complete additional education, training and competency tests as required.

Independently works off assessment skills to activate patient care protocols to deliver patient care within the Tennessee paramedic scope of practice within the defined Vanderbilt paramedic scope of practice. Responsible for triage care in the field as well as the Emergency Department. Responsible for effective communication to ensure safe and quality patient care in paramedic team, transport and handover.LifeFlight Ground EMS started with a single ambulance in the fall of 2011, and after several expansions now includes a fleet pf 21 Advance Life Support (ALS) equipped ground ambulances operating from five locations in the Middle Tennessee areas: Nashville, Wilson County (Lebanon), Coffee County (Tullahoma), Montgomery County (Clarksville) and, Bedford County (adjacent to Vanderbilt Bedford). These ambulances predominantly focus on interfacility transfers and discharges from Vanderbilt affiliated medical facilities, with the ability to also support non- Vanderbilt facilities.
Shifts: Variable (12) hour shifts to include some night, weekend and holidays

Key Responsibilities:
Actively participates with other members of the healthcare team to provide direct patient care.
Transports patients via various modes of transportation while providing quality ALS and Critical Care management to all ages.
Responds to emergency requests within Vanderbilt, Vanderbilt sponsored or other contracted events.
Utilizes the problem solving model to independent resolve patient problems and follow through with HCT to implement solutions.
Identifies patient and unit problems and finds solutions to resolve problems and follows through to implement solutions.
Effectively communicates patient handover to the health care team.

Technical Capabilities:
Assessing, Intervening & Stabilizing Patients (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate assessing, intervening and stabilizing patients in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Generally works under the direction of others while accomplishing assignments.
Medication Management (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate Medication Management in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Conducted a comprehensive and systematic assessment of a persons ability to comply with a prescribed medication regime. Conducted an in depth, systematic review of a persons current and past medication history including details of prescription dates, prescribed doses, side effects, interactions and outcomes. Demonstrates enough acumen to recognize problems and to contact the patient's primary care provider.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as an internal consultant to clinical, research, operational, and administrative teams, leading intake, discovery, and opportunity assessment for digital health innovation; clarify problem statements, user needs, strategic objectives, scope, success metrics, and evaluation approaches.
- Partner cross-functionally with clinical, research, operations, IT, compliance, privacy, security, patient-facing, and staff-facing stakeholders to conduct interviews, workshops, workflow observation, and needs assessment; synthesize findings into feasible digital solutions that address business and clinical challenges.
- Guide the planning, implementation, and delivery of digital health pilots and solutions, partnering with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to align on approach, timelines, risks, requirements, testing, training, go-live, stabilization, and post-launch optimization to support adoption and operational performance.
- Conduct external benchmarking, market scans, literature and industry research, and vendor/partner engagement to evaluate emerging capabilities, compare leading practices, inform solution selection, support demos and RFP processes, and help manage deliverables, performance, and issue resolution.
- Develop clear, decision-oriented documentation and implementation artifacts, including research summaries, benchmark findings, recommendations, workflow analyses, requirements, roadmaps, and governance approaches to support adoption, enhancements, delivery planning, and change management.
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to assess user needs, adoption, experience, outcomes, efficiency, and ROI; synthesize internal findings and external benchmarks into actionable insights and recommendations for leadership and key stakeholders.
- Advise stakeholders on alignment with institutional strategy and ensure solutions are evaluated and implemented in accordance with applicable policies, regulatory requirements, and risk considerations, including privacy, HIPAA, security, clinical safety, and data stewardship.

The Patient Care Tech III (PCT III) brings an additional skill set to the table. PCTs that are performing unit secretary duties, telemetry monitoring, remote video monitoring, or are working in the Step-Down Unit, ED, Dialysis, Hospital at Home, or ICU are eligible for this level.

I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients. Examples, but not limited to changes in skin condition, vital signs, and/or mental status.
2. Provides constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse or designee.
3. Participates in the development and maintenance of a safe environment. Works to utilize interventions to de-escalate patients and if unsuccessful participates in restraints in accordance with training and education as directed.
4. Assists patient with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, ambulating, meals and nourishment.
5. Assists in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients by utilizing proper safety techniques and body mechanics in all work-related activities.
6. Maintains patient safety by performing patient safety checks, utilizing fall prevention alternative devices/strategies as directed, and following the Restraint Policy standards when caring for a restrained patient.
7. Takes and records vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure and pulse oxymetry). Measures and records patients’ height and weight.
8. Performs EKG’s, performs Point of Care (POC) tests and bladder scanning according to hospital standards. Collects, labels, and prepares specimens for transport to lab.
9. Phlebotomy in certain locations.
10. Demonstrates sensitivity and responsiveness to patients’ needs by acting as a source of information and approaches all interactions with the intention of building positive rapport and relationships.
11. Performs other selected unit specific procedures such as battery changes for telemetry units, checking status of unit equipment, cleaning equipment between patients and proper storage of supplies.
12. Assists RN/Licensed Independent Practitioner with treatments and procedures by preparing patient; obtaining and setting up equipment and supplies, such as intravenous and hemodynamic lines, and utilize sterile technique when indicated. Help in positioning the patient and providing the patient with emotional support. Clean up equipment and supplies following the treatment and/or procedure.
13. Observes, measures, records oral food and fluid intake. Sets up full strength tube feeding solutions and refills tube feeding bags as directed. Empties and records output, as approved, from a variety of sources, e.g., Foley catheter, ostomy appliances and drainage systems. Performs ostomy care on established ostomate patients as directed.
14. Answers telephone using appropriate telephone etiquette. Takes and relays messages. Utilizes intra-department communication systems, such as pagers and intercom.
15. Replenishes patient and unit supplies and equipment.
16. Keeps current with hospital and unit changes by reading communication boards and/or books, bulletin boards, posted notices and reads and responds to UMMHC e mails on a regular basis.
The PCT III must fit into one of these specialties:
Unit Secretary
Functions as unit secretary assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharge procedures at least 5 shifts (40 hours) every 6 months. Has administrative responsibilities including, but not limited to, maintaining logs, organizing patient care charts for admission/discharge/transfer and maintenance of medical records. Enters data or retrieves medical information from the electronic medical record systems.
Remote Video Monitoring
Continuously observes multiple patients utilizing the remote video monitoring system.

Telemetry Certified & Step-Down Unit - Harrington
PCT IIIs are cross trained in phlebotomy and telemetry competencies, as well as the unit clerk position. PCT IIIs will also be assigned to areas of higher acuity, such as the Step-Down Unit.

Program Requirements:
Candidates must have a valid Massachusetts RN license verified by the Mass.gov website approximately a week prior to the start date. The new graduate nurse may apply for this position prior to completing license requirements but will be unable to begin work unless officially licensed.
Candidates must have graduated within the last 9 months and can only have worked as an RN in any capacity no more than within the last 9 months of beginning of program start.
Candidates must have graduated from an accredited BSN or ADN program. Graduates with an ADN will need to complete BSN within 5 years of employment.
Candidates that are interested in specialty areas (such as critical care, pediatrics, maternity, and the emergency department) please note that prior experience such as a practicum or work as PCA in that specialty area is preferred.
Program Summary: This position is a 1-year New Graduate Nurse Residency Program to introduce the new graduate registered nurse to nursing practice from multiple perspectives through didactic, clinical and experiential opportunities. The new graduate registered nurse will participate in all didactic sessions as part of the role, as well as learning to participate in the planning, delivery and management of direct patient care utilizing the nursing process and adhering to the standards of nursing practice.
Program Description: The New Graduate Nurse Residency Program is designed for the newly graduated nurse who has successfully passed the NCLEX exam and who has less than 9 months of work experience as an RN. Over the course of the program, the new graduate RN will participate in educational sessions designed to support the development of critical thinking, professional practice behaviors, job satisfaction, organizational commitment, clinical judgment, and knowledge assimilation to a high-tech, acute care environment. In addition, new graduate nurses are partnered with preceptors who have experience in practice and utilize clinical coaching plans to validate competency.
New graduate nurses will orient on one unit with their preceptors and will be expected to work up to 40 hours per week on a varying schedule that may include evening, night shift, weekends and holidays. Following successful completion of unit orientation, new graduate nurses will integrate into a unit as independent RNs in a position that will vary in hours, and shift based on the unit needs.

3. Processes and records scanned images per Radiologist protocol to ensure quality and accuracy. Reviews scans with Radiologists as requested. Accurately documents work in HIS/RIS/PACS systems.
4. Checks operation of equipment, sees that Q.A and maintenance schedules are adhered to; maintains cleanliness of tables and equipment to prevent cross contamination of contagious diseases, keeps rooms well stocked with linen and necessary supplies

Job Profile SummaryUnder general supervision of the Mammography/Ultrasound Supervisor, performs ultrasound scans to produce images to assist physicians in the diagnosis of injury and/or disease for patients of all ages. Performs related clerical and service duties.

Performs duties described in the United States Department of Transportation/National Highway Traffic Safety Administration position description for EMT Paramedic including; responding to requests from the public for emergency medical assistance; examining, assessing and stabilizing patients at the point of call and during transport to the appropriate point of entry.I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Administers skilled medical care to individuals in response to calls for emergency treatment in accordance with the Massachusetts EMS Pre-Hospital Treatment protocols. Examines, assesses, and stabilizes patients at emergency scene, i.e., advanced cardiac life support, hemorrhage control, treatment for shock, immobilization of fractures, bandaging, proper treatment for burns, poisoning, or drug overdose, manages gynecological emergencies, delivers newborn, manages mentally disturbed patient, etc.
2. Obtains medical history. Checks vital signs. Advises/informs on-call physician of diagnostic indication. Performs definitive life support. ADDENDUM FOR: Resuscitation and Airway Management Specialist (RAMS)
Position Summary:
Worcester EMS paramedics who have completed the clinical competencies for the DAI/RSI program will serve in the Pavilion (PAV) in capacities consistent with their level or training and scope of practice. All work performed in the hospital will be done under the clinical supervision of the Medical Directors and the attending physician.
Major Responsibilities:
• Establishing and maintaining peripheral IV access
• Administering medications and fluids within hospital defined scope
• Participating in “Overwatch” activities which involve meeting with other clinical staff to identify patients at elevated risk of clinical decompensation and monitoring these patients for any acute changes throughout the course of a shift. Any worsening or significant change to be communicated to the care team.
• Working in a collaborative fashion as part of the care team with physicians, APPs, PCAs, Unit Secretaries, Respiratory Therapists, and RN staff.
• Assist with procedures and patient care activities at the request of the clinical team.
• Assisting with transport of critical patients to and from areas of the hospital while monitoring for any acute changes.
• When summoned in case of critical decompensation or cardiac arrest, at the direction of the physician or APP, will be responsible for management of the patient’s airway according to the Resuscitation and Airway Management Specialist (RAMS) training and scope. The airway procedures will include:
o Administration of medications for induction prior to paralysis to include Ketamine and Etomidate as well as to suggest adjunct medications such as fentanyl if indicated.
o Administration of neuromuscular blockade using either succinylcholine or rocuronium.
o Administration if needed of push dose vasopressors in the case of hemodynamic instability.
o Use of LMAs and other supraglottic airways.
o BVM ventilation.
o Use of PEEP valve during ventilation.
o Direct laryngoscopy.
o Video laryngoscopy.
o Orotracheal and nasotracheal intubation.
o Use of bougie to assist in intubation.
o Cricothyrotmy in Cannot intubate, cannot ventilate (CICO) situations.
o Placement of orogastric or nasograstric tube.

Plans, directs and controls the daily activities involved in the effective and efficient management of the Operating Room (OR) schedule, providing continuous and high quality service for the perioperative patient. 1. Constructs assignments in conjunction with the OR Service Group Managers based on patient, surgeon, and anesthesiology requirements.

Performs duties described in the United States Department of Transportation/National Highway Traffic Safety Administration position description for EMT Paramedic including; responding to requests from the public for emergency medical assistance; examining, assessing and stabilizing patients at the point of call and during transport to the appropriate point of entry.I. ADDENDUM FOR: Resuscitation and Airway Management Specialist (RAMS)
Position Summary:
Worcester EMS paramedics who have completed the clinical competencies for the DAI/RSI program will serve in the Pavilion (PAV) in capacities consistent with their level or training and scope of practice. All work performed in the hospital will be done under the clinical supervision of the Medical Directors and the attending physician.
Major Responsibilities:
• Establishing and maintaining peripheral IV access
• Administering medications and fluids within hospital defined scope
• Participating in “Overwatch” activities which involve meeting with other clinical staff to identify patients at elevated risk of clinical decompensation and monitoring these patients for any acute changes throughout the course of a shift. Any worsening or significant change to be communicated to the care team.
• Working in a collaborative fashion as part of the care team with physicians, APPs, PCAs, Unit Secretaries, Respiratory Therapists, and RN staff.
• Assist with procedures and patient care activities at the request of the clinical team.
• Assisting with transport of critical patients to and from areas of the hospital while monitoring for any acute changes.
• When summoned in case of critical decompensation or cardiac arrest, at the direction of the physician or APP, will be responsible for management of the patient’s airway according to the Resuscitation and Airway Management Specialist (RAMS) training and scope. The airway procedures will include:

13. Demonstrates sensitivity and responsiveness to patients’ needs by acting as a source of information and approaches all interactions with the intention of building positive rapport and relationships.
