Position Title
Position Summary / Career Interest:
The Radiation Therapy Assistant assists Radiation Therapists in the care of patients for Radiation Therapy treatments. The Radiation Therapy Assistant also helps with transferring/transporting and observing patients. Collects and presents information from ARIA and/or O2 regarding patient, exam and works to ensure patients are treated in a timely manner.Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Provides constant patient observation while in immediate care area. Reports to Radiation Therapist and or physician if there is a change in patient’s mental status, pain, or condition.
- Coordinates information between nursing unit and the Radiation Therapy staff. Confirms and screens patient for appointments.
- Accesses patient information in the EMR prior to patient’s treatment and presents to Radiation Therapy staff for review.
- Enters information into O2/ARIA to assist Radiation Therapists.
- Maintains a patient-centered focus and strives to support the mission, goals and values of the hospital, department and division.
- Prepares treatment rooms before and after patient exam to assist with efficient and timely room turnover.
- Transport patients to and from Radiation Oncology department.
- Attends to patient’s comfort during transport and in the Radiation Oncology department. Reports condition changes during transport to Radiation Therapist/nurse or physician.
- Performs daily work assignments in an efficient, organized manner and with accuracy, such as assisting with inpatient/outpatient schedule coordination of patients.
- Provides education to patients, patient families, and nursing units regarding radiation therapy procedures.
- Retrieves and/or creates patients’ electronic folders and accesses reports and other patient or exam data via O2 and ARIA
- Maintains supply par levels for linen, cleaning supplies, gloves etc. and restocks as needed
- Promptly reports equipment malfunctions.
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
- High School Graduate
Preferred Education and Experience
- Less than 1 year 3-6 months experience with caring for acute, ED, or long-term care patients
- Experience as an MA, EMT, LPN
Required Licensure and Certification
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
Preferred Licensure and Certification
Knowledge Requirements
- Ability to use computer systems, retrieving data when necessary

The ambulatory clinic professional registered nurse has the authority, responsibility, and shift accountability for the delivery of nursing care using the nursing process. The ambulatory clinic licensed practical nurse (LPN) utilizes the nursing process to coordinate an interdisciplinary approach to patient care. The LPN is responsible for promoting and restoring patient's health by completing the nursing process, collaborating with physicians and team members, and providing physical and psychological support to patients and their families. Practices within the boundaries of the Kansas Nurse Practice Act, specialty standards and organizational/departmental policies and procedures.Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions- Greets patients and prepares them for examination or procedure. Recording health history of patient and noting abnormal conditions for physician. Obtains vital signs and performs required screens.
- Accurately and safely administers intramuscular, subcutaneous, and oral medication as ordered in accordance with nursing standards. Observes, records, and reports patients condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians.
- Assists with the preparation of supplies and equipment and aiding the physician or advance practice provider during treatment, examination and testing of patents.
- Ensures patient chart entries are made accurately and in a timely manner and forwarding charts as appropriate.
- Assisting with scheduling of tests and treatments. Arranging referrals to a specialist and obtaining pre-authorizations when directed to by the provider.
- Collects, documents and delivers lab specimens; obtains lab results and other reports and enters EMR if needed.
- Notifying patients of test results and follow-up appointments. Refers to RN/MD for patient education.
- Reviews with patient/family medications, treatment and after visit instructions.
- Responds to and screens telephone calls for referral to RN or physician.
- Coordinates pre-visit planning by reviewing the EMR to include patient history and proactively order labs and other tests based on approved clinic protocols.
- Completes necessary forms (i.e. FMLA, DME, Home Health orders) and obtains physician signatures as appropriate.
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Position Summary / Career Interest:
The ambulatory clinic professional registered nurse has the authority, responsibility, and shift accountability for the delivery of nursing care using the nursing process. The Registered Nurse (RN) accepts accountability, applies competent clinical knowledge and uses independent nursing judgment for care provided by self and by health care providers to who care is delegated to achieve quality patient care outcomes. The RN also must possess the ability to assess and interpret patient data needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs.Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Provides direct patient care within the ambulatory setting, based on the nursing process and within role/scope of practice.
- Preforms preliminary assessment of patients through observation and chart review to facilitate appropriate follow-up with the healthcare team.
- Evaluates unstable or complex patient care situations and facilitates appropriate intervention.
- Implements appropriate clinical decisions and demonstrates appropriate use of expert peers and/or management as applicable.
- Accepts accountability and uses independent nursing judgment for care provided by self and by healthcare providers to who care delegated.
- Demonstrates the appropriate use of standards, effective use of resources and evaluation of patient response in the delivery of patient care.
- Identifies teach/learning needs of patient.
- Responsible for educational instruction to patients and families with health care needs.
- Evaluates effectiveness of patient and family teaching and makes documentation in patient’s charts.
- Responds to/refers incoming patient treatment-related phone calls.
- Completes necessary forms (i.e. FMLA, DME, Home Health orders and obtains physicians signatures as appropriate).
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
- High School Graduate
- Associate Degree Nursing
- 6 months of RN experience
- 2 or more years RN experience to be an Ambulatory Clinic RN PRN
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor Degree Nursing
Required Licensure and Certification
- Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Multi-State - State Board of Nursing - in state in which you live OR
- Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Single State - State Board of Nursing - active with multistate in progress with proof of application
- Must have current active multistate state Register Nurse (RN) license in good standing in state in which you live OR active single state RN license in good standing in the state you will be working with proof of application of a multistate RN license in the state in which you live. Staff hired prior to 2/1/2024 are required to obtain a multistate state RN license from the state in which they live by 4/30/2026.
- Basic Life Support Heartsaver (BLS HS) (Non-Clinical) - American Heart Association (AHA) or obtained within 14 days

Required Qualifications:
- MD/DO or equivalent
