Your Role:
Prepares the Operating Rooms with equipment and supplies to support the daily workload; assists anesthetists and anesthesiologists, patients and co-workers; tracks and maintains equipment, specialty carts, trays and inventory and participates in the advancement training program. Operates the institutional Point of Care Testing monitors, the institution’s cell salvaging systems, as well as operate the Rapid Infusion Systems during trauma, liver, heart, lung transplant in which the massive transfusion protocol is initiated with minimal guidance including various cardiac procedures including set up.

Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates a working knowledge in the use and operation of point of care instrumentation and documentation. Skillful knowledge in troubleshooting all anesthesia equipment.
- Recognizes a difficult airway, anticipates and provides necessary supplies and equipment.
- Prepares and operates Rapid Infusion System for processing delivery of blood products during surgical procedures and trauma.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge in the use and operation of cell salvage equipment.
- Possesses an understanding of pharmacology, anatomy and physiology as it applies to anesthesia care.
- Participates in providing multi-disciplinary support services that may include but not be limited to liver transplant services, pain management services, autotransfusion services.

- Procedures Knowledge (Advanced): Possesses a high level of proficiency to successfully demonstrate procedures knowledge in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Generally, works under the direction of others while accomplishing assignments.
- Equipment Maintenance (Advanced): Possesses a high level of proficiency to successfully demonstrate the ability to maintain equipment, products, or systems in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Assures that parts inventory is sufficient.

- Certified Anesthesia Technologist (Cer.A.T.T.) - American Society of Anesthesia Technicians/Technologists (ASATT) – Certification must be active.
Certified Anesthesia Technician and Technologist Sign-On Bonus Eligibility Requirements: The sign on bonus is not applicable to current VUMC staff or former staff who have worked for VUMC in the past 12 months.
Relocation Terms:
- Up to $10k (taxable) within 45 day of hire, based on geography
- Must relocate from greater than 100 miles

The Advanced Practice Clinician (NP/PA) is service/physician aligned, managing a distinct patient population. The APC may be required to perform some outpatient and inpatient care and facilitate discharges/outpatient follow up. The APC has a strong foundation in evidenced based practice/education and is responsible for ensuring adherence to clinical pathways/protocols and ensures an environment of safe quality care. The APC demonstrates advanced level of medical and nursing knowledge, clinical/technical competence, sound clinical judgement, professional communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and responsible for professional development and competency validation..
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assessment of Health Status
- Performs and documents in the medical record a complete history and physical examination for acute and complex chronically ill patients
- Orders and collects data using appropriate assessment techniques, relevant supporting diagnostic information and diagnostic procedures where indicated.
- The APC may serve as the first responder for both nursing and staff in the event of patient status changes, orders, and in situations requiring procedural and resuscitative interventions.
- Assesses for risks associated with the care of the acute and complex chronically ill patient including medication side effects, immobility, impaired nutrition, fluid, and electrolyte imbalance, immunocompetence, invasive interventions and diagnostic procedures.
- Coordinates daily clinic schedule with the attending physician team, presents patient report, collaborates in plan of care, and follows assigned patient population.

The Advanced Practice Clinician (NP/PA) is service/physician aligned, managing a distinct patient population. The APC may be required to perform some outpatient and inpatient care and facilitate discharges/outpatient follow up. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assessment of Health Status
- Performs and documents in the medical record a complete history and physical examination for acute and complex chronically ill patients
- Orders and collects data using appropriate assessment techniques, relevant supporting diagnostic information and diagnostic procedures where indicated.
- The APC may serve as the first responder for both nursing and staff in the event of patient status changes, orders, and in situations requiring procedural and resuscitative interventions.

- Assists the physician/provider with procedures and surgeries such as pelvic exams, allergy scratch testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy, etc.
- Administers medications, under physician/provider orders, including: immunizations, antibiotics, pain medications, vitamins, topical agents, and insulin. With limitations, initiates, maintains and discontinues IV therapy; administering selected fluids with pre-mixed medications.
- Provides basic patient education on the performance of tasks, skills, treatment and self-care.
- Follows through with necessary procedure or test requests, prescription refills, new appointment times and referrals to other facilities or services.
- Refers questions to registered nurses and physicians/providers per scope of practice guidelines and relays information back to patient as directed.
- Communicates with physicians and other members of the health care team. Documents and communicates accurate and timely information regarding patient conditions.
- Performs advanced clinical tasks or skills such as removal of sutures and staples, catheterization, audiograms, laboratory procedures (throat/nose culture, drug screen, phlebotomy - butterfly, venous access, heel stick), EKG, spirometry, Holter monitor application, casting, complex wound care, etc., with demonstrated competency and under clinical supervision.
- Organizes and prepares exam rooms, lab and work areas including: cleaning, stocking, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment. Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
- Completes routine maintenance and quality monitoring of clinic equipment using appropriate technique when cleaning, sterilizing and caring for instruments and other equipment.

Major Responsibilities:
- Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice, follows all policies and procedures, and maintains training and competency based on area of specialty when providing patient care.
- Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings (depression, suicide, falls, social drivers of health, etc.).
- Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered.
- Performs lab related duties such as venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, preparation of lab orders/requisitions, and results tracking. Point of Care testing (POCT) per standing order/provider order. Completes Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing in adherence to CLIA standards.
- Administers medications and vaccines safely following the rights of medication administration.

We care for adult patients age 18 and older who are being treated for acute ischemic, hemorrhagic stroke, subdural, epidural hematoma, subarachnoid hemorrhage, seizures, Guillain-Barre syndrome, Myasthenia Gravis exacerbation, meningitis and encephalitis, spinal cord injury, cerebrovascular intervention, and brain and spinal tumor resection.

We are a 29 bed unit with a nurse to patient ratio of 1:6. We care for patients that are going through joint replacements, fractures, general trauma, ortho trauma, emergency general surgery, dislocations, etc.

We are a dedicated psychiatric emergency room, the environment on our unit is fast-paced and never the same on any given day. We care for adult patients ranging in age from 18 and over who are being treated for any behavioral health crisis need. Our unit is unique because we are also responsible for all ages and patients admitted to Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital (VPH) from a multitude of referral sources.

This position will be a hybrid role with the possibility of fully remote depending on the candidate, to directly support research activities related to inherited cancer predisposition, germline and tumor genomics, and outcomes/care delivery research. Under direct supervision, the Research Analyst I will assist the research team in conducting epidemiological studies focused on inherited cancer predisposition. 2nd shift in a beautiful lab with floor to ceiling windows!Performs routine and complex clinical pathology testing and instrument management of laboratory services. Responsible to accurately record results and assure timely delivery of results. Has the authority, responsibility and accountability for the accurate performance of laboratory test methodologies. These tests are used in the diagnosis and treatment of patients and the evaluation of the patient's response to treatment. Applies clinical knowledge to achieve accurate clinical test results which leads to quality patient care outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provides patient-focused care in a clinical setting through the accurate performance of routine and complex tests through the pre-analytic, analytic and post-analytic stages.
• Performs qualitative and quantitative analytical procedures, including reagent preparation and appropriate quality control, according to required protocols, with precision and accuracy in a timely and efficient manner.
• Demonstrates knowledge of techniques, principles, and instruments and their interrelationships as well as physiological conditions affecting test results.

Technical Capabilities:
• Data Analysis (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate data analysis in practical data analysis applications of moderate difficulty. Navigates within established technology environments to locate, validate, extract, and format data for data analysis. Able to modify and run queries and standard reports from data tools and provide to users. Can identify data values and data sources. Is familiar with data modeling. Is able to interview business customers to elicit data requirements and understand the relationships between data items.
• Quality Assurance (Novice): Has provided continuous analysis and evaluation of assignment work processes, constantly striving for improvement in the way tasks and activities are accomplished by questioning their value to the process and contributing creative solutions. Has participated in the process of establishing, communicating and monitoring standards for quality and excellence.
