Vanderbilt Health is seeking an experienced and collaborative Clinical Pharmacy Manager to provide leadership for pharmacists supporting critical care and emergency medicine. This is an exciting opportunity for a pharmacy leader who is passionate about advancing medication safety, developing high-performing teams, and influencing patient care.
In this role, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for a team of Clinical Pharmacists, Clinical Pharmacist Specialists, and Clinical Team Leads. You will play a critical role in supporting the people and processes that ensure exceptional patient outcomes across the organization.
What You'll Do
- Lead and support a team of 10-15 clinical pharmacy professionals, including Clinical Pharmacists, Clinical Team Leads, and Clinical Pharmacist Specialists.
- Drive initiatives related to medication safety, quality improvement, formulary management, and clinical best practices.
- Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, professional development, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, pharmacy staff, and other interdisciplinary partners to optimize medication use and patient outcomes.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance management to direct reports.
- Support clinical pharmacy services across critical care and emergency medicine providing 24/7 care.
- Identify opportunities to enhance workflows, patient care delivery, and operational effectiveness.
- Contribute to the growth and expansion of clinical pharmacy services as the institution continues to expand its critical care capacity.
What We're Looking For
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD).
- PGY2 residency training in Critical Care preferred.
- Candidates with a PGY1 residency and critical care or emergency medicine practice experience coupled with leadership experience will also be considered.
- 2 years of progressive pharmacy experience, including leadership responsibilities is required. 3-5 years is preferred.
- Previous experience managing direct reports.
- Experience as a Clinical Coordinator, Clinical Team Lead, Residency Program Director, or similar leadership role is highly valued.
- Demonstrated success leading teams, mentoring clinicians, and driving practice improvement initiatives.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

In this role, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for a team of Clinical Pharmacists, Clinical Pharmacist Specialists, and Clinical Team Leads. You will play a critical role in supporting the people and processes that ensure exceptional patient outcomes across the organization.
What You'll Do
- Lead and support a team of 10-15 clinical pharmacy professionals, including Clinical Pharmacists, Clinical Team Leads, and Clinical Pharmacist Specialists.
- Drive initiatives related to medication safety, quality improvement, formulary management, and clinical best practices.
- Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, professional development, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, pharmacy staff, and other interdisciplinary partners to optimize medication use and patient outcomes.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance management to direct reports.
- Support clinical pharmacy services across critical care and emergency medicine providing 24/7 care.
- Identify opportunities to enhance workflows, patient care delivery, and operational effectiveness.
- Contribute to the growth and expansion of clinical pharmacy services as the institution continues to expand its critical care capacity.
What We're Looking For
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD).
- PGY2 residency training in Critical Care preferred.
- Candidates with a PGY1 residency and critical care or emergency medicine practice experience coupled with leadership experience will also be considered.
- 2 years of progressive pharmacy experience, including leadership responsibilities is required. 3-5 years is preferred.
- Previous experience managing direct reports.
- Experience as a Clinical Coordinator, Clinical Team Lead, Residency Program Director, or similar leadership role is highly valued.
- Demonstrated success leading teams, mentoring clinicians, and driving practice improvement initiatives.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

We care for adult patients age 18 and older who are being treated for acute ischemic, hemorrhagic stroke, subdural, epidural hematoma, subarachnoid hemorrhage, seizures, Guillain-Barre syndrome, Myasthenia Gravis exacerbation, meningitis and encephalitis, spinal cord injury, cerebrovascular intervention, and brain and spinal tumor resection.

Myelosuppression/Stem Cell Transplant
We care for adult patients over the age of 17 with newly diagnosed hematologic diseases both benign and malignant as well as those with solid oncologic tumors in various stages of treatment and those in need of symptom management.
The unique patients we are privileged to serve have treatment plans consisting of standard therapies, and cutting-edge and research therapies, including stem cell and adoptive cellular therapies, to aid them in their courageous fight against their disease. We see our patients and their family members through longer lengths of stay allowing us the privilege to care for them holistically.

This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under their direction. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs. Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family and assures completion within appropriate timeframe. Reviews available information obtained by other health care team members. Reviews diagnostics and laboratory data and reports abnormal results to the physician(s) and other appropriate caregivers. Completes assessment and reassessments according to patient need and as outlined in policy.
2. Formulates a plan of care, including the discharge plan, utilizing assessment data and patient, family and health team input. Initiates a plan of care based on patient-specific needs, assessment data and the medical plan of care. Goals for patient are realistic, measurable and developed in conjunction with the patient/family. Considers the physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age specific and educational needs of the patient in the plan of are. Plans care in collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary team. Reviews and revises the plan of care to reflect changing patient needs based on evaluation of the patient’s status.
3. Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the activities of the health care team. Provides care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, in compliance with policies and procedures, standards of care, and regulatory agency requirements. Delegates appropriately, and provides nursing supervision in the provision of care to patients by other licensed nurses and other personnel. Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating to other caregivers the status of patients for whom care is provided.
4. Evaluates the patient's and family's response to care and teaching, and revises the plan of care as needed. Evaluates patient progress towards goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with other health care team members. Evaluates patient's response and the effectiveness of patient teaching.
5. Documents assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record. Documentation is legible, timely and in accordance with policy. 6. Provides care based on the best evidence available and may participate in research activities within clinical practice. Participates in unit or facility shared leadership. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice. BLS certification is required. Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.
Relates throughout the interview process the experience, training and education needed to perform the job. Experience in the clinical area for which he or she is applying is desired. Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area in which they work as demonstrated through annual validations. Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions require a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting. Experience must include working in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area. This position is the first point of contact at healthcare facilities and assists patients with the administrative aspect of gaining access to medical treatment. This position is in a hospital-based setting which includes Emergency Dept, Inpatient, Obstetrics, Outpatient, etc. Responsible for in person patient intake and registration, providing superior customer service, accurately identifying, and obtaining authorizations patients’ insurance, verifying eligibility and benefits, generating patient estimates for services rendered, financial counseling, and collecting patient liability. Demonstrates the ability to resolve customer issues and provides excellent customer service.

1. Verifies patient’s demographics and accurately inputs this information into EHR, including documenting the account thoroughly to maximize reimbursement and minimize denials/penalties from the payor(s).

This position selects and places surgical instruments, supplies and equipment during surgery. Scrubs and provides instruments, sutures, and other sterile supplies during surgical procedure.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Prepares for surgical procedures. Pulls appropriate instruments and supplies and ensures good working order of instruments. Reviews case carts for correct instruments and supplies. Plans ahead for upcoming surgical case needs.
2. Anticipates the surgeon's needs. Passes instruments, retracts tissue and operates equipment during surgery.
3. Demonstrates the principles of aseptic technique and universal precautions throughout the procedure. Disposes of sharps and trash and places used supplies into case cart for processing. Participates in counting of sharps, instruments and sponges. Prepares instruments for cleaning following each case.
4. Ensures that all surgeon preference cards and pick lists are accurate.
5. Assists with OR turnover between cases. Participates in stocking, replenishing supplies and cleaning operating rooms.
6. May provide business support to the department including assigned administrative tasks.
7. This position follows safety procedures in regards to medication labeling, appropriate handling of specimens, appropriate handling of sharps, time-out procedure, radiation and laser safety, infection control, assembling and disassembling instruments. Participates in emergency call rotation. Internal customers are patients, surgeons, and nursing staff. External customers may include practicing physicians and patient families.

The Vanderbilt Clinic Oncology Pharmacy is hiring a Certified Pharmacy Technician!
Position Highlights
- IV focused position.
- This position consists of primarily sterile compounding of chemotherapy regimens.
- Options of (4) 10-hour shifts between Monday - Friday with hours of 9:30am - 8:00pm or (5) 8-hour shifts with options of 6:00am - 2:30pm or 7:30am - 4:00pm.
- Every 11th weekend both Saturday and Sunday. Those that work (4) 10-hour shifts work 6:30am-5:00pm and those that work (5) 8-hour shifts work 6:30am-3:00pm.
- Rotating holidays with the same hours as weekend shifts. Typically, 1 major holiday per year.
- Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician through either PTCB or NHA in order to be considered.
- Must have a TN Pharmacy Technician License within 90 days of employment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assists the pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing and/or distribution of medications.
- Applies departmental processes regarding inventory control.
- Performs activities as directed by Pharmacists and/or Pharmacy Managers in accordance with federal, state and local laws/regulations and hospital policies.
- Delivers outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Operates computer systems and utilizes technology.

Technical Capabilities
- Pharmaceutical Computer Literacy (Fundamental Awareness): Has demonstrated a basic understanding of computers or has successfully completed training for applications that are used to support medication use processes.
- Pharmaceutical Drug Preparation, Dispensing & Distribution (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully review, prepare, dispense and distribute prescribed medications. Where applicable, this includes being proficient in the general principles and techniques of asepsis utilized to compound sterile preparations (CSPs) to minimize the risk of contamination.
- Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance & Compliance (Novice): Demonstrates working knowledge of the appropriate rules and regulations as they apply to the department and work areas. Maintains current understanding of rules and regulations and facilitates processes that support the application of various rules and regulations. Demonstrates knowledge of process improvement, quality assurance and/or programs. Understands the principles upon which the rules and regulations are based. Demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement and supports compliance with a federal, state and local regulations as well as organizational policies and procedures.
- Drug Inventory & Records Management (Novice): Possesses fundamental proficiency working with drug inventory and records management. Demonstrates ability to maintain appropriate inventory levels of medications. Able to collect, organize and/or maintain evaluations of pharmacy or patient related information.
- Must complete all required training and maintain competency while in a certified technician role as determined by area leadership
