$35.50 - $53.25Essential Functions
- Coordination with members of the healthcare team and payors to facilitate placement of patients in the appropriate level of care related to medical necessity. Promotes an open communication between utilization management and the health care team concerning level of care.
- Responsible for timely provision/flow of specific clinical information to third-party payors to ensure authorization of stay. Maintaining compliance with professional standards, national and local coverage determinations, the Centers for Medicare, and Medicaid Services (CMS) as well as state and federal regulatory requirements, as applicable.
- Performs admission and continued stay utilization reviews to assure the medical necessity of hospital admissions, appropriate level of care, continued stay and supportive services, and to examine delays in the provision of services, in accordance with the utilization management plan.
- Demonstrates proficiency in applying nationally accepted evidence-based criteria to assure appropriate hospital level of service. Maintains timely and appropriate documentation of all utilization management activities.
- Utilizes critical thinking skills based upon extensive knowledge of disease processes and clinical outcomes to identify the need for further clarification of physician documentation within the medical record.
- Prioritize work to facilitate timely accurate utilization management activities for each evidence-based product type.
- Collaborates to improve quality throughput coordination of care impacting length of stay with minimizing cost and ensuring optimum outcomes. Identification and documentation of potentially avoidable delays.
- Demonstrates the ability to utilize the licensed software tool to perform and record daily medical reviews.
- Communicates information effectively, including comprehensive clinical information, to third-party payors, to secure timely authorization for the appropriate level of service. Provides payor feedback to case managers, social workers, and providers.
- Escalates and resolves denials to secure payment for the necessary care and services provided to the patient. Collaborates with payor, physician advisor, attending provider and multi-disciplinary team to reconcile payor-issued denials.
- Demonstrates proficiency and knowledge of various reimbursement criteria, including documentation necessary for reimbursement from regulatory bodies.
- Assist in process improvement of various committees, interdepartmental and departmental as assigned by the VP, AVP, Director, Medical Director, Manager or Team Supervisor.
- Supports and contributes to the Patient Centered Care Philosophy by understanding that every staff member is a Caregiver whose role is to meet the needs of the patient.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned and within the time frame specified.
Physical Requirements
Works in an office type setting, extensive walking throughout the facility. Prolonged periods of sitting reviewing medical records and documentation. Repetitive wrist motion and occasional lifting of 10-20 pounds. Intact sight and hearing with or without assistive devices are required. Must speak English fluently and write English in understandable terms
Education, Experience and Certifications
Bachelor’s in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing, required.
Master's degree in business or healthcare related field, preferred. Previous utilization review experience preferred. Current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner in the state in which you work and reside or if declaring a National License Compact (NLC) state as your primary state of residency, meet the licensure requirements in your home state; or for Non-National License Compact states, current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner required in the state where the RN works. 5 years of related nursing experience preferred. Clinical experience within the assigned population. Extensive knowledge of disease processes and clinical outcomes. Case Management experience or background preferred. Strong financial and analytical skills preferred. Appropriate Professional certification required within 3 years of hire and per Clinical Care Management Certification Guidelines.
Additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be required within the department by the department leader.

· Examines requests and verifies orders on each assigned patient. Refers and questions orders to the Radiologist before performing exam. Contacts ordering provider when there are discrepancies.
· Properly identify (Using two patient identifiers) and assist patients while offering a brief explanation of the procedures. Prepares patients for the procedure with a full explanation and documents on appropriate worksheets.
· Interviews patients for a complete medical history. Reviews in-patients, ER, and outpatients EMR's to obtain pertinent clinical history. Records medical history on requisitions. Correlates other test results and laboratory data with exam being performed.
· Assumes responsibility for the exam from beginning of exam until completion of dictated results.
· Prepares and administers IV contrast according to departmental protocols. On request, records contrast type and amount.
· Evaluates technical quality of images and consults with a Radiologist if needed. Recognizes abnormal anatomy and processes any additional, reconstructed images, and/or measurements as instructed.
· Performs basic patient care functions. Informs appropriate nursing personnel of any changes in the patient's condition. Initiates life support measures for patients when necessary. Assists in “code blue” procedures during medical emergencies.
· Performs CT scanning and assists Radiologist/PA during invasive procedures. Practices proper sterile technique in the preparation of necessary supplies. Performs all invasive procedures in accordance with bloodborne pathogens, isolation, and infection control policies and procedures.
· Is authorized to obtain medication or contrast material as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner.
· Practices principle of radiation safety for self, employees, patients and family members. Follows appropriate radiation safety standards
· Reports malfunctioning equipment to the department director/manager/supervisor and clinical engineering/radiology engineer.
· Maintains knowledge and skills required to work safely in an environment that can create significant exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious disease.
· Adheres to the hospital fire and safety procedures. Attends all in-service classes and completes all required safety modules.
· Performs work in an accurate and timely manner in periods of crisis and emergency situations where time is critical. Rotates shifts as required including call back, holidays, and weekends. Adheres to the Advocate Health attendance policy by being punctual and taking measures to prevent absences.
· Operates radiology computer system to include entering orders and charging procedures/supplies. Documents contrast administration in the MAR.
· Maintains assigned work area in a neat and orderly fashion. Keeps area completely stocked. Cleans all work areas to promote cleanliness in the workplace.
· Assists other medical personnel, such as anesthesia, when performing exams or services in conjunction with a CT scan.
Physical Requirements
Requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment and supplies. Occasional standing, walking, and sitting during normal operation. Frequently may be required to stretch, bend twist, squat or kneel in the daily operation of the CT department. May be exposed to various physical conditions throughout the day such as walking on hard surfaces, climbing stairs, being near moving equipment. Required to use radiation safety guidelines to prevent exposure to ionizing radiation.
Education, Experience and Certifications
Graduate of an accredited two-year AMA program in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology required. ARRT certification in Radiology or NMTCB for Nuclear Medicine and advanced registry from the ARRT in CT scanning within one year of hire required. BLS required

Position Purpose:
The Preop/PACU/PAT/PHASE 2 departments at Mount Carmel Dublin are unique. The Registered Nurse would expect to see pre-surgical and post-surgical care cases including surgeries from the operating rooms, Endoscopy suite, non-invasive cardiac lab, and cardiac and interventional radiology suite. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2 in the PACU and a new patient can be expected in preop every hour. This is a fast-paced department with great energy and teamwork. Staff are cross trained in preop, PAT, PACU and phase 2 which offers the opportunity to gain additional skills and interact with different patient populations. This team will be comprised of tenured staff that are always happy to mentor new colleagues.

What you will do:

Assesses and evaluates patient care for an assigned group of patients, utilizing evidence based practice. Collaborates with patient and family to develop and implement a plan of care that includes physical, spiritual and educational components.
Accurately communicates pertinent information to appropriate team members in a timely manner. Keeps patient/family apprised/updated.
Documents accurately and completely pertinent assessments, interventions and outcomes for patients in accordance with documentation standards, policies, procedures and/or guidelines.
Assumes responsibility and accountability for care provided and documented by other licensed and unlicensed care givers as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Graduate from school of nursing.
Licensure / Certification: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
For Casual RNs 2 years of experience is required.
All new graduate nurses with less than one (1) year of clinical experience are subject to participate and will be automatically enrolled in the Nurse Residency Program.
