The program supports the largest number of deliveries in the Capital region, many of which are high-risk pregnancies and multiple births. The family centered team YOU will work with includes physicians, licensed nurse midwives, dedicated perinatal nurses, social work and spiritual care services, skilled techs, and lactation consultants. What you will do:
Nurses working in Mother/Baby unit have the support of comprehensive orientation developed by a clinical nurse specialist in maternal/child nursing, on-site BLS and neonatal resuscitation classes, as well as on going clinical education. The staff is highly involved in quality improvement activities, program development, recognition activities, and team building. The clinical ladder program provides the opportunity for professional growth through mentoring, opportunities for leadership, and generous educational funding.
Responsibilities:
- The RN is responsible for assessing the needs of each patient to which he or she is assigned
- Planning the nursing care needed to meet those needs, including spiritual, emotional and physiological needs. Once planned, the RN is responsible for seeing that the plan of care is carried out through performance and or leadership of supervised personnel and that the plan of care is evaluated
- Directly accountable to the Nurse Manager for the quality of patient care delivered
- Modifies and delivers care that is specific to the age, growth and development of patients according to the unit scope of services
- When serving in the charge role, he or she is responsible for clinical and leadership functions.
- Responsible for assessing the needs of each patient and planning the nursing care needed to meet those needs

- Current NYS RN
- One year of Med Surg or Maternity
Pay Range:$40.00 - $53.00
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.

What you will do:
The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible to perform the duties of the position in support of the nurses and physicians in providing quality medical care.
Responsibilities:
Escorts patient to exam room, takes appropriate vital signs and documents all necessary health information into the electronic medical record.
Responds to patients concerns appropriately.
Completes referrals and obtains pre-authorizations for diagnostic testing.
Follows proper protocol for collection and delivery of specimens.
Participates in all required meetings and practice huddles.
Completes incoming patient forms and ensures forms are scanned into the electronic medical record if applicable.
Uses Universal Precautions with all encounters. Knows and follows procedure for handling occurrences involving exposure to blood or other body fluid.
Documents all exposure incidents per St Peter’s Health Partners Medical Associates policy.
Notifies physician regarding patients in need of physician intervention.
Ensures that patient exam rooms are stocked and cleaned at all times.
Follows office protocol to ensure adequate supplies are ordered and stocked.
Performs office testing with appropriate training and within scope of practice.
Handles medical waste appropriately.
Provides educational materials to patients.
Provides patients with electronic copy of medical record.

What you will need:
Preferred Qualifications
Graduate of a Medical Assistant Training Program
Holds National Medical Assistant Certification: CMA, CCMA, RMA
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalency
At least 10 months’ work and/or clinical training experience in the healthcare field
Proficient in obtaining manual vital signs
Experience using an electronic health record system
Commitment to confidentiality and respect
Ability to obtain and record patient data including but not limited to: prior health history, family history, allergies, current medications, current complaints, health screening questionnaires
Knowledge of basic anatomy and medical terminology

What you will do:
- Properly maintains and tracks referrals from beginning to end. Accountable for the referral loop by tracking all referral orders including but not limited to specialty referrals and diagnostic referrals.
- Answers, responds to and documents phone calls, requests and questions from patients, physicians, ancillary services or specialty offices in a timely manner. Calls must be accurately managed
- Assembles information concerning patient’s clinical background and referral needs. Per referral guidelines, provides appropriate documented clinical information to specialists.
- Reviews details and expectations regarding the referral with patients.
- Communicates any prep instructions via documented orders or protocol to patient.
- Receives and reviews referral requests; prioritizes orders based on urgency.
- Schedules, problem solves, communicates, and coordinates referral appointments with patient, physician(s), specialists and/or central scheduling.
- Collaborates with essential care team members including: physicians, mid-level providers, LPN's, MA's, Practice
- Maintains patient confidentiality and abides by all HIPPA guidelines.
Authorizations
- Obtains necessary authorization for referrals and diagnostic testing in timely fashion with proper documentation.
- Works in collaboration with Billing Analyst on denied claims for missing prior authorization or referral within the EMR system.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of referral/payer prior authorization requirements, eligibility guidelines and documentation requirements.
- Communicates insurance decisions to patient.
- Conducts follow up calls as necessary to physician offices, patients and payers to complete pre-certification process.
Care Coordination
- Confirms payer is in-network with specialist. If not, contacts patient to discuss and make alternate arrangements as necessary per payer guidelines in communication with the care team.
- Act as point of contact for anything referral related, be the expert in this area for the office(s) you are assigned
Education Requirements:
Minimum Requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent required. BA preferred.
Experience Requirements:
5 yrs minimum experience in a medical office.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of insurance payers and processes.
Demonstrates attention to detail, organization and effective time management.
Ability to work independently, with little supervision.
Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and CPTII codes.
Solid judgement to escalate issues appropriately.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office, related computer programs and general office machines.
Ability to communicate effectively with the patient population while exhibiting exemplary customer service skills.
Pay Range: $19.20 - $25.85

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH - Samaritan Hospital Registered Nurse
Our Behavioral Health Unit provides you the opportunity to work with mental health patients. We serve persons who are experiencing a severe psychiatric crisis and in need of an inpatient setting for safety, care and treatment to stabilize the immediate crisis. Treatment is individualized and quality care is provided that best suits the needs of our patients. There is an emphasis on maintaining safety, medication stabilization and the development of individualized coping skills in response to the crisis.
You will support your main unit, but be cross-trained in all four units. Varying shifts available in the following units:
Adult Psych Unit - We are a 26 bed Inpatient Adult Psych unit caring for the stabilization of acute symptoms of the psychiatrically impaired population. During the course of admission, we address acute psychiatric intervention and facilitate discharge planning to facilitate safe transitions to the next level of care or return to the community. The patients we serve frequently have comorbid medical and/or substance use illnesses. We are supported by an interdisciplinary team comprised of psychiatrists, NPP, clinicians, nurses and patient care technicians. We also work collaboratively with a covering Medical Group and all specialties are available to us by consult.
Senior/Geriatric Psych Unit – This is a 20 bed unit. This unit addresses the medical and psychiatric needs of aging patients experiencing mental health and substance abuse problems. The unit is not designed to treat a primary diagnosis of dementia. Treatment of mental health issues in seniors requires careful attention to co-existing medical illnesses that are common to this population. Treatment and discharge planning focuses on helping patients remain in the most independent living environment possible after discharge. Patients admitted to this unit are typically 55 years of age or older, although patients under 55 may be admitted if they are in need of acute psychiatric treatment and have medical complications that may prohibit them from being admitted to the Adult Mental Health Unit or MICA Unit.
MICA (Mentally Ill/Chemically Addicted) - This unit is a 14 bed unit. Drug addiction rehab program to help people suffering from both mental illness and substance abuse. Treating the two disorders as well as their interaction. The needs of the mentally ill/chemically addicted (MICA) client are unique. Our specialized MICA services, designed specifically for the dually diagnosed individual, are flexible to accommodate individuals with varying functional levels.
CRISIS ER - Crisis is a 6 bed, locked unit within the emergency department. Patients are evaluated during a mental health crisis for safety to determine whether or not they require admission to one of our inpatient Behavioral Health units or can be safely discharged back into the community with outpatient support. Patients are referred to Crisis through the main emergency department or brought directly to Crisis via police or ambulance. We serve patients through adolescence to geriatrics.

Major Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the development and implementation of multidisciplinary women’s health standards of care and best practice initiatives for all ambulatory and/or acute care settings across the system.
- Develops the framework, assessment, and outcome metrics for the women’s health nursing program.
- Assists with the system assessment for overall women’s health multidisciplinary quality care by supporting recommendations and improvement plans. Partners with women’s health leadership in the analysis of system quality data to identify trends and gaps and in the development of multidisciplinary initiatives for clinicians and teammates.
- Provides expert knowledge, including national benchmarks, standards, and current trends in women’s health. Partners with service line physician leadership toward the development of an interdisciplinary approach to care for obstetric and gynecological patients. Partners with system, market and site leadership to assist in the identification of women’s health care needs.
- Serves as women’s health nursing quality specialist to design, implement, and evaluate innovative individual and/or population-based programs of care to achieve desired quality, cost-effective, nurse-sensitive outcomes.
- Provides leadership and consultation to site and market leadership and external agencies and organizations related to areas of obstetrical and gynecological care as well as the value of nursing care within the organization. As indicated, participates in state initiatives towards the improvement of perinatal care.
- Advances nursing practice through innovative evidence-based interventions, best practice guidelines, research, and modifications of professional standards and organizational policies that direct the care of nursing staff and other clinicians to improve outcomes.
- Facilitates the development, operation and evaluation of the obstetrical and gynecological orientation and continuing education programs for all ambulatory and/or acute care settings across the system. Provides mentorship to local, unit based clinical nurse specialists and unit educators.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices, or
- Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) certification issued by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) needs to be obtained within 2 years, or
- Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) certification issued by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB), or
- Nurse Midwife license, or
