Job Description:
Direct, plan and coordinate the operations of an ambulatorypatient care department. Achieve department and organizational goals and ensure optimal outcomes for designated patient populations within approved operating budget. Responsible for hiring, firing, counseling, and evaluation of department staff. Initiate and maintain effective communication to promote positive department relations. While clinics operate weekdays, there may be times when afterhours work is necessary to address urgent/emergent issues.
Required Qualifications:
• Minimum of four years clinical and/or business operations experience required.
• Minimum of two years of experience to include the following: oversee the work of a group of people, hire, fire, assign work, orient, train, evaluate, discipline, coach/mentor and/or negotiate and interpret conflicts and influence outcomes on matters of significance OR four years of experience to include the majority of the following: serve as a technical expert for a group of employees, regularly model/mentor and train employees on technical skills, make decisions regarding daily priorities for a work group, provide guidance to and/or assist staff on non-routine or escalated issues and provide input on performance appraisals and/or disciplinary actions required.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field required. Candidates who will complete a bachelor's degree within 12 months of hire or transfer date are eligible to apply.
• Flexibility and dedication to team environment required. Ability to lead and develop teams required.
• Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills required.
• Ability to anticipate and respond effectively to changes in direction and priorities required.
• Well-ordered approach to problem solving required.
• Excellent physician relationship skills required.
• Ability to deliver customer focused service required.
• Proficient with telecommunication equipment, information systems, general patient care supplies, transport equipment, office equipment and supplies, and audio-visual equipment required.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Based on position, prior experience in an ambulatory, residency training, clinical oncology, or clinical transplant setting preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing strongly preferred.
• Master's degree in business administration or healthcare related field preferred.
• Based on position, Six Sigma Green or Black Belt training preferred.
• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Nebraska or current compact state license preferred.
•Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).
• Based on position, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.

Duties: APP - Critical Care Medicine
Provide comprehensive health care to individuals in an inpatient ICU setting. Diagnose and treat critically ill patients with complicated illnesses including pulmonary, cardiac, neurological or infectious diseases in collaboration with a designated supervising physician. Accurately diagnose and treat critical illness in patients with sepsis or severe infection, medication and drug overdose, respiratory failure. Initiate treatment and manage care for patients requiring ventilatory support in patients with complex pulmonary conditions Perform and assist with diagnostic and therapeutic medical and/or surgical procedures.
Required Qualifications: APP - Critical Care Medicine
Nurse Practitioner
• Master's degree in nursing from an accredited school/college of nursing required.
• Minimum of two years RN experience or equivalent combination of RN and nurse practitioner experience combined (two years of RN experience equals one year of APRN experience) required.
• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nebraska or current compact state required.
• Currently licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Practitioner (APRN) required.
• Appropriate certification required based on position, department and population served:
Adult Gerontology Acute Care (AGACNP-BC)
Adult (ANP-BC)
Family (FNP-BC)
Adult Gerontology Primary Care (AGPCNP-BC)
Physician Assistant
• Master’s degree from an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program OR bachelor’s degree with ten years of current active Physician Assistant experience and approval from the Director of the Office of Advanced Practice OR if bachelor’s degree with less than ten years current active experience sign a written agreement consenting to obtain a Master’s degree from an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program within three years from date of transfer or hire and approval from the Director of the Office of Advanced Practice required.
• Ability to maintain Continuing Medical Education (CME) hours to meet State of Nebraska and NCCPA Certification by the National Commission of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) [Or if new graduate, eligible for certification and certification completed prior to beginning to provide care] required.
• Currently licensed as a Physician Assistant in the State of Nebraska (or eligible for license prior to beginning to provide care) required.
Both Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant
• Ability to function with autonomy and able to make independent decisions while functioning as part of a comprehensive team required.
• Ability to effectively communicate in verbal and written forms required.
• Ability to provide critical thinking and analytical skills required.
• Efficient use of information systems, data processing systems, telecommunication devices, office equipment, and audiovisual teaching/education resources required.
• Ability to comprehend and follow policy, procedure, guidelines and protocols required.
• Flexibility and dedication to team involvement and supporting organizational goals required.
• Familiar with patient care equipment as appropriate to specialty area required.
• Knowledge of health care policy and societal factors affecting the delivery of care required.
• Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) licensure required.

Responsible for collection and transportation of patient specimens for clinical laboratory testing adhering to department identification policies. Perform, evaluate, and report patient specimens using point-of-care instrumentation. Responsible for the overall day to day operations, planning, directing, coordinating and evaluation of the department including the development of department goals and objectives that are consistent with the Nebraska Medicine mission. Prepare, monitor, and have accountability for the department budgets. Manage the work and performance of general maintenance technicians and multi-skilled trades, to include HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Locksmiths, among others. Work collaboratively with all levels of the hospital interdisciplinary team and promote the team concept with their department and hospital-wide. Required Qualifications:

Perform evaluations, planning, and implementation of occupational therapy treatments. Assist with department goal setting, program planning, clinical instruction, and staff instruction in order to maintain a progressive and educationally motivated staff. $21.85 - $32.80Major Responsibilities:
- Assists the physicians and registered nurses in providing technical care of the patients by performing phlebotomy, transporting patients to other departments, placing patient on cardiac and vital sign monitors, performs wound care, inserts Foley catheters, and obtains lab specimens. May perform IV starts if allowed by state regulations.
- Documents information/procedures and promptly communicates observations, concerns and needs of the patient to the registered nurse.
- Processes daily patient charges and/or related procedure through the Electronic Health record (EHR).
- Collaborates with physicians to support communications required to facilitate patient care. Coordinates and facilitates all forms of communications (phone, verbal, paging, electronic, fax, and EMS system).
- Maintains a clean and safe working environment, following department safety policies and standard precautions.
- Monitors equipment and troubleshoots minor problems. Arranges repair of major malfunctions.
- Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- Nurse Aide in good standing as indicated with the State Registry in which the TM practices., or
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic license issued through national registry or by the state in which the TM practices or
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic Intravenous license issued through national registry or by the state in which the TM practices, or
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Intermediate license issued through national registry or by the state in which the TM practices, or
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Paramedic license issued through national registry or by the state in which the TM practices., or
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in Medical Assistant, and
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
Education Required:

- Typically requires 1 year experience.

- Basic computer skills and ability to work with Electronic Health Record (EHR).

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

- Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist.
- Lift up to 20 lbs over the head.
- Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance.
- Must be able to:
- Push/pull with 30 lbs of force.
- Perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs with a second person present.
- Will be required to use foot pedals on carts or machines.
- Will be exposed to the following hazards on a continuous basis: mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, and blood and body fluids.
- Will be required to wear gloves, goggles, and gowns on an as-needed basis.
- Must have functional sight and hearing.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
