Pay Range:
$35.50 - $53.25Major Responsibilities:
- Participates in the preparatory steps of surgery; assists operating team in gathering supplies, opening room for cases, assists in lifting, transferring, positioning, preparing and draping the patient.
- Anticipates and responds to the needs of the Surgeon, by ensuring all required supplies are available for procedures prior to incision, recognizing individual preferences.
- Provides for a clean, safe and efficient area conducive to optimal patient care. Utilizes aseptic surgical techniques in the preparation of materials, supplies and equipment for surgical procedures (e.g., assistance with gowning and gloving; preparation and draping of the surgical area; provision of a sterile field, instruments, suture and related materials; anticipation of the Surgeons' needs; holding of retractors, observing and reporting possible breaks in aseptic technique; and assisting in maintaining a sterile, dry, unobstructed field).
- Ensures the environmental disinfection, safety and efficiency of the operating room. This includes setting up the room for each case including moving equipment (e.g., tables, cameras, microscopes, fracture table, and instrument pans), operating the various types of equipment they have been trained to use during operating room procedures, and returning equipment post procedure. Checks the working condition of equipment and facilitates having damaged items sent out for repair. Notifies appropriate people of equipment and supply problems.
- Acts as a resource and assists in the training of Surgical Technologists and new Surgical Assistants. Participates in department and facility work teams and assists with special projects as needed.
- May perform specific surgical activities that are validated competencies under the direct supervision of the surgeon (i.e. the surgeon is in the same room working on the same patient). A record of the validated competencies must be recorded in the caregiver's education file.
- May perform specific validated competencies and surgical activities such as wound closure of deep capsules, muscle, subcutaneous tissue and skin under general supervision of the surgeon (i.e. validated competencies may be delegated by the surgeon who is immediately available and able to furnish immediate assistance and direction but not necessarily present in the room when the activity is performed).
- May perform specific validated competencies and surgical activities such as position and prep of patient on the surgical table (excluding complex fracture table, spinal frame, or head stabilizers/pins/tongs), application of the tourniquet as indicated in preparation of a procedure, securing of drains, application of the dressing, cast or immobilizer at the end of a case and safe transfer from the surgical table to transport cart/bed without supervision of the surgeon (i.e. validated competencies may be delegated by the surgeon and be performed without supervision of the surgeon and with the surgeon not present).
- Provides competency confirmed by a sponsoring surgeon and submits documentation to the medical executive committee a minimum of every two years for approval and/or renewal.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Teammates hired into a Surgical First Assistant role after December 31, 2026, will be required to obtain and maintain certification by one of the three certification bodies listed below:
- Surgical First Assist (CSFA) certification issued by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
- Surgical Assistant Certified (SA-C) certification issued by the American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA)
- Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) certification issued by the National Surgical Assistant Association (NSAA).
Education Required:
- Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Surgical Technology.
Experience Required:
- Typically requires 3 years of experience in a Surgical Technologist or Surgical Assistant position.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Advanced knowledge and skill in major operative surgical specialties performed.
- Advanced knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and potential complications for procedures performed.
- Demonstrated ability to remove skin staples and wound drains.
- Advanced knowledge and skill of aseptic surgical techniques used in the preparation of materials, supplies and equipment for various surgical procedures and suturing.
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate and recognize Physician's needs and changes that requires unplanned or unanticipated interventions, and responds appropriately.
- Remain current with ongoing computer based learning modules as assigned.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Certification Addendum: Team members will maintain annual educational requirements for hospital based certifications (e.g. DNV, CARF or others).
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Must be able to withstand a very stressful and fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to:
- lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
- lift up to 20 lbs. over the head.
- carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
- Must be able to:
- push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
- perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
- Required to use foot pedals on carts or machines.
- Exposed to the following hazards on a continuous basis: mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, blood and body fluids.
- Must have functional sight and hearing.
- Required to wear masks, gloves, goggles, and gowns.
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders and twist frequently during work shift.
- Must be able to operate all equipment essential to performing the duties of the job.

Position Overview:
The Nursing Care Coordinator serves as the primary clinical support for Dr. Bingcang within the Otolaryngology (ENT) Department at the Lauritzen Outpatient Center. This role is responsible for coordinating patient care across the continuum, ensuring timely communication, assisting with treatment planning, managing patient concerns, and serving as a key resource for patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
As the main support person for Dr. Bingcang's practice, the Nursing Care Coordinator will work closely with physicians, nursing staff, scheduling teams, and ancillary departments to deliver exceptional patient-centered care. In addition, this position will provide support to Dr. Dowdall and the Laryngology team as needed to ensure continuity of care and operational efficiency across the service line.
Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, effective communication, and a commitment to collaboration. The Nursing Care Coordinator is an integral member of the ENT team and will partner with colleagues throughout the department to create a seamless patient experience. Job Description:
Coordinate a patient care delivery system for a designated group of patients in order to achieve high quality, cost effective patient outcomes across the continuum of health care with the goal of optimizing the patient's health status. Perform duties in the ambulatory setting as well as assisting complex (consisting of many different needs, intensive coordination) patients in the transition of care throughout multiple settings. Provides targeted interventions to avoid hospitalization and emergency room visits. Position may be designated within a primary care or specialty care area.
Required Qualifications:
• Minimum of three years Registered Nurse (RN) experience OR a combination of relevant experience with specific patient population related to position, to be approved by the CNO, as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) (three years LPN experience equals one year RN experience) inclusive of a minimum of one year in RN role required.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) required.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills required.
• Ability to prioritize and make independent clinical judgments required.
• Experience with basic patient care equipment, policy procedure and protocol manuals required.
• Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with an interdisciplinary team required.
• Effective critical thinking/analytical skills required.
• Ability to effectively evaluate care across the continuum.
• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Nebraska or current compact state license required.

- Verifies positive patient identification to ensure patient safety. Assesses patient reactions to specimen procurement.
- Independently performs venipuncture and collects other specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients according to established protocol. Obtains medical assistance when judged necessary.
- Obtains specimens according to priority and scheduled draw times. Ensures completion of specimen collection functions according to protocol. Ensures that specimens are properly labeled and suitable for testing. Resolves specimen identification and/or requisition problems and clarifies requests.
- Enters, releases, and verifies test requests into the computer system as needed.
- Processes specimens for testing, including aliquoting, while maintaining proper specimen identification.
- Responds to additional specimen procurement requests via pager and/or phone from dispatch staff.
- Follows established procedures for logging vehicle use. Keeps Supervisor informed of current driving status.
- Assists with inventory and maintains supplies and/or equipment.
- Instructs employees and students in phlebotomy, data entry and specimen processing functions.
- Documents appropriate information for quality assurance/improvement according to established protocol.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Collaborate with leaders to maximizes resource efficiency through the end-to-end resource cycle from schedule creation through precise placement assuring the right person is at the right place at the right time. Analyze RMC trends, including call volumes, call patterns, staff productivity, attrition rates, and resource allocation. Ensure customer service needs are met by coordinating and adjusting staffing needs a timely manner. Create reports to be used for capacity planning within the RMC. Coordinate with other departments when outages occur and calls must be redirected. Provide guidance for team members, clinics, and other areas by creating a positive work environment to maintain patient and employee satisfaction.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum one year experience in an office or call center environment required.
- High school education or equivalent required.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple assignments competently, accurately and efficiently required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of relevant scheduling experience preferred.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience with writing and updating reports preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs preferred.

Sr Associate Patient Coordinator job duties:
Properly, professionally, and sensitively obtain and handle medical records by communicating and coordinating with patients, physician offices, hospitals and other medical organizations/personnel in order to create accurate and sufficiently comprehensive patient charts. Coordinate patient referrals to designated clinical programs and services by being a part of and communicating with a team of people tasked with ensuring that patient appointments are timely, accurate and appropriate. Register and schedule patients in a customer service oriented, efficient and effective manner and in accordance with department guidelines. Complete complex scheduling of multiple appointments and/or services. Provide clerical support relating to scheduling and/or coordination of various services and surgical procedures within the organization. Provide administrative support as necessary to all team members in clinic, surgical and procedural areas, as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare customer service environment required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of one year post-secondary education with coursework in business, medical assistant program or nursing assistant program OR equivalent combination of education/experience in customer service or medical scheduling related capacity (one year of education equals one year of experience) required.
- Demonstrated verbal and written customer relations skills required.
- Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with an interdisciplinary team required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology required.
- Demonstrated analytical, prioritizing and organizational skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to provide a high level of customer service to physicians, patients and other internal/external customers required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a healthcare environment with working knowledge of scheduling or healthcare record collection and registration systems preferred.
- Clinical background in assigned area preferred.

- Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant preferred.
