Job Description Summary:
The Receptionist greets and welcomes patients and visitors to the clinic, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor. They are responsible for managing the front desk responsibilities including maintaining patient flow; scheduling appointments; appropriately handling phone calls; validating insurance eligibility; entering demographics, insurance, and other pertinent information in the Electronic Health Record and other various systems; and determining and collecting time of service payments and/or past due balances at the time of appointment.

Job Duties:
- Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
- Performs patient check-in at the time of visit and completes all steps necessary to ensure the admitting process is efficient and in compliance with all clinic and regulatory policies.
- Answer phone calls and direct them appropriately.
- Schedule appointments according to office guidelines.
- Obtain accurate patient and insurance information, collecting copays (TOS) and deductible amounts.
- Copy/scan patient access related hardcopy materials (e.g. ID, referrals, insurance cards, etc.) into the correct location in the electronic medical record.
General Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
- Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population serve within three (3) months of hire.
- Requires the ability to read, write and understand the English language, and communicate effectively with patient, visitors, and colleagues while performing their job duties.
- Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality when dealing with patient information.
- Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.

Provides professional emergency nursing care for acutely ill and injured patients incorporating the nursing process of all age groups including neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Provides patient and family education. Serves as a patient advocate and liaison with other health care providers. Serves as a preceptor for new employees and students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Applies professional emergency nursing skills in the care and treatment of acutely ill and injured patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Promotes patient-centered care through:
Respect of the patient’s values, preferences, and expressed needs
Coordination and integration of care
Information, communication, and education
Physical comfort
Emotional support and alleviation of fear and anxiety

Transition and continuity
Collaborates with the patient, significant others, and ancillary departments to create a multidisciplinary healthcare team whose goal is to provide care that is continuous and well-coordinated.
Provides for actual and anticipated education needs and includes education to meet these needs in the plan of care.
Communicates proactively to the healthcare team the plan of care, changes in the patient’s condition, the patient’s progress, the discharge plan, and other relevant information.
Must quickly, efficiently, and calmly respond to emergent and critical situations.
Manages the complex care of critically ill and injured patients.
Triages patients quickly and efficiently per the Emergency Department’s policies specific to Triage.
Documents a comprehensive patient record that is organized and complete, reflecting all aspects of nursing care provided.
Anticipates patient’s needs and assists the provider during the examination and procedures.
Provides psychological support based on assessed need.
Utilizes multiple teaching methods. Discharge instructions are reviewed and understanding acknowledged by the patient/family.
Assess community resources as indicated.
Supervises Emergency Department Technicians.
Serves as a preceptor for students and employees (i.e. EMS, nursing, new employees).
Works independently using the Nurse Practice Act, hospital policies, and professional judgment. Makes recommendations to improve the Emergency Department’s Standards of Care.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Possession of a current or compact state license as a registered nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa.
One year of RN experience preferred OR new graduate if the candidate has completed senior nursing preceptorship at Mercy Emergency or previous experience as an emergency department technician or experience in a pre-hospital environment.
Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within 3 months of hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certified within six (6) weeks of hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Heart Association Basic Life Support.
Completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire.
Completion of TNCC within 1 year of hire

GENERAL SUMMARY:
A Respiratory Therapist performs patient assessment, evaluation for appropriate therapy, administration of therapy, consultation with other health care providers, diagnostic testing, implementation and troubleshooting of equipment and monitoring of patient. These services are provided as appropriate for patient age to include neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric adult.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs inhaled medication therapy, arterial puncture, blood gas analysis, pulmonary function testing, chest physiotherapy, oxygen therapy, helium-oxygen therapy, carbon dioxide-oxygen therapy, nitric oxide-oxygen therapy, CPAP therapy, BIPAP therapy, bland aerosol therapy, PEP therapy, high-frequency oscillator therapy, and ventilatory support modalities as ordered by physician.
- Participates in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, assists or performs intubation, manages artificial airway, and transport of patients requiring ventilatory support.
- Assembles, manipulates, and troubleshoots Respiratory Care equipment including mechanical ventilators, pulse oximeters, capnometers, aerosol generators, medical gas delivery systems, humidification systems, and mechanical percussors.
- Interprets diagnostic results for feasibility and reports results, to include blood or other body fluid analysis by blood gas analyzer and co-oximeter, pulmonary function screening, pulmonary mechanics studies, end-tidal C02, and pulse oximetry.
- Performs record keeping, billing and medical record documentation functions.
- Provides patient instruction in the use of Respiratory Care devices and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certificate of completion from an accredited Respiratory Care Program by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs (CAAHEP).
- Credential by the National Board for Respiratory Care as a Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist.
- State of Iowa Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
- Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.

Position Purpose:
The surgical technologist, using the principles of medical asepsis, prepares the operating room for surgical cases of all specialties and instruments the surgical procedures anticipating the needs of the surgeon. What you Will Do:
Assists the circulating nurse in assessing the patients' needs and helps to develop and implement the plan of care.
Provides care to all surgical patients in accordance with the operating room’s performance standards, physician preference cards, and the AORN Standards of Care and Practice.
Assists in setting up rooms.
Secures safe transport of the patient if needed.
Confirms correctness of the surgical site, prepares the pre-operative site, instruments the case, manages the sterile field and specimens, and turns the room around under the supervision of the circulating nurse.
Serves as a steward for the hospital’s human and material resources.
Meets productivity expectations of unit/department as defined by unit manager.
Identifies accurate changes on surgeons' preference cards.
Utilizes and maintains appropriate supplies during the case and in the department.
Develops and maintains knowledge/skills in all surgical specialties.
Hours:

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Graduate of a surgical technologist program is required, or graduate of an LPN program with Surgical experience.

Disinfect patient treatment, invasive care areas, staff and visitor areas to maximize infection prevention, enhance patient safety, ensure EOC compliance and enhance the visual appeal of assigned areas in accordance with established policies and procedures. Perform collection, storage, and disposal of general medical, biohazard, pharmaceutical, chemotherapy, sharps, and soiled linen products from patient treatment areas in accordance with established policies and procedures. Clean remodeled or newly constructed areas and ensure they are ready for occupancy. Perform project work to include cubicle curtain changes, construction cleanup, floor refinishing, carpet cleaning, wall washing, refrigerator cleaning, and other projects as assigned. Prepare patient rooms, exam rooms and patient support areas for new patients including disinfection, bed making, floor care, and supplies replenishment in accordance with established policies and procedures. Inputs call schedules into the Smartsheet On-Call Scheduling Sheets and makes necessary changes. Coordinates on-call schedules ensuring they are up-to-date and posted correctly online. Answers calls after hours for several physician offices. Handles emergency calls such as Code Blue, Code White, Code Gray, Missing Person/Child/Infant, etc. and has knowledge of all code procedures. Use approved communication for fire and various other alarm systems. Uses approved communication for other emergency situations such as Trauma Alerts, Emergency Heart Cases, Rapid Responses, etc. and notifies personnel as needed. Responsible for sending out weather alerts or other emergency mass notification messages from Informacast. Maintains radio contact with security and engineering. Monitors security cameras and notifies security, nursing supervisor, or other personnel as needed. Assigns room numbers to patient mail for distribution and forwards mail to discharged patients that have been discharged. Operates the Spok computer applications for paging, looking up directory information, paging out emergency groups, logging calls, etc. Uses other computer applications to carry out the required functions for the department. Supply Directory Information to patients and staff. Attends department meetings and in-services as requested or required and actively participates. Monitors scanner for potential code disaster situations. Is responsible for finding Sign Language Interpreters as needed.
