Job Description Summary
Through evidence-based practice, the RN utilizes critical thinking to assess, plan, implement and evaluate outcome-based care of patients. The RN supervises and coordinates care provided to patients by the LPN, Patient Care Assistants and other nursing team members. The RN facilitates communication with physicians, patient and family, other departments and/or team members. Adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of MercyOne.
As a Behavioral Health Registered Nurse at MercyOne, you will:
- Conducts an initial assessment to gather data.
- Makes an initial assessment of new admissions within 30 minutes of the patient’s arrival to the unit.
- Completes all areas of the admission assessment database within 24 hours of admission.
- Identifies patient problems and develops them into an outcome/goal-based plan of care.
- Initiates the patient problem list and incorporates relevant medical history into the plan of care.
- Analyzes and interprets the assessment data to identify desired patient outcomes/goals.
- Determines nursing interventions to achieve those outcomes/goals.
- Prioritizes patient care needs/ activities.
General Requirements:
- Associate degree required, BSN preferred.
- No prior experience required. For Preceptor, Patient Education Representative: Minimum of 2 years nursing experience (and/or 2 years in specialty area as applicable), and recommendation by manager, peer, and a physician.
- Current Iowa RN license, BLS, Mandatory Reporter.
- In ICU must complete cardiac monitoring course and/or select units of Advance Nursing/Critical Care Course or comparable, and ACLS within 12 months in ICU.
- Rehab-FIM certified.
- Hazardous Materials Training- ED
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) within 6 months of hire.(ED; ICU, Mental Health, CD)
- High language, intermediate to high math, high critical thinking ability.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
- Ability to work under pressure and with a large degree of independence and accountability.
- Ability to lead/direct others in a high stress situation/environment

GENERAL SUMMARY: Provides perioperative patient care, specifically in the intraoperative phase, in both the scrub and circulating roles according to established guidelines. Serves the population from neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric. This position requires call, weekends, nights and Holidays as scheduled.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Scrubs and circulates on cases independently, with minimal direction. - Prepares for surgical cases in an efficient manner, anticipating needs of patient, surgeon, anesthesia and other O.R. team members. - Provides a safe environment for patient and staff by implementing standards of aseptic technique and by controlling the physical and psychological aspects of that environment. - Collects and analyzes data and assesses patient in developing nursing diagnosis. - Communicates effectively with the patient, staff, physicians, and families. - Maintains knowledge of equipment set-up and function. - Initiates and directs room clean up and turnover.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: - Participates in orientation and training of new personnel. - Assists in maintenance of physician's preference cards and other O.R. resource material. - Utilizes computer in surgical documentation, disposition of specimens and obtaining pertinent information. - Participates in departmental Performance Improvement activities as appropriate. - Attends department meetings and inservices.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Possession of a current or compact state license as a Registered Nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa.
Operating Room experience preferred.
Basic Life Support certified within six (6) weeks of hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
Ability to read, write and speak English language.

As a Clinic RN at MercyOne, you will provide patient care in outpatient settings and are responsible for delivering safe, effective, and evidence-based patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. They coordinate care provided by other clinical staff, support patient and family education, and ensure communication across healthcare teams. They are accountable for clinical standards and may operate with minimal supervision.

General Requirements:
- Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
- Plans, assesses, intervenes, and provides direct patient care using critical thinking and nursing processes (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation).
- Performs comprehensive patient assessments (physical, psychosocial, nutritional, functional, safety, spiritual, cultural, educational). Makes nursing decisions based on patient status and care needs.
- Administers medications and treatments safely via multiple routes (oral, IM, SC, ID, IV, inhalation, topical, ocular, optic, sublingual, nasal) and documents accordingly.
- Performs nursing care, lab and diagnostic tests, specimen collection, phlebotomy, and limited radiology procedures following policies and universal precautions.
- Assists providers with patient care, phone/mail/fax communications, scheduling, consents, admissions, referrals, and outpatient procedures.
- Communicates and collaborates with physicians, staff, patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members regarding care plans and patient needs.
- Educates patients, families, and clinical staff on treatments, medications, test preparation, discharge, and health maintenance; documents education and evaluates understanding.
- Participates in staff meetings, committees, quality improvement, risk management, and performance improvement projects.
- Maintains documentation accuracy and completeness in EMR: assessments, vitals, symptoms, treatments, medications, education, charges, lab results, histories, and consults.
- Maintains and monitors supplies, equipment, medication stock, and office machines; follows maintenance and quality control protocols; reports malfunctions.
- Recognizes and responds appropriately to urgent/emergency patient needs and initiates emergency procedures.
- Other duties as needed and assigned by the manager.
- Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
Education:

POSITION PURPOSE
The Patient Logistics RN serves as the primary clinical coordinator for complex patient transitions across the healthcare continuum. This role manages inter‑facility transfers by integrating advanced clinical assessment, situational awareness, and real‑time decision-making to ensure patients are placed at the appropriate level of care in a timely and safe manner. POSITION PURPOSE

As a Patient Care Tech at MercyOne, you will be supports the professional clinical staff by providing direct patient care and performing studies and tests as assigned. These duties may vary by shift or may be unit specific.
Schedule:
- 12 hour Days; 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM; rotating weekends and holidays
General Requirements:
- Delivers assigned patient care and treatment as delegated by an RN or LPN.
- Performs or assists patients with activities including personal hygiene, bathing, ambulation, transporting, range of motion exercises, dressing/undressing, feeding, changing bandages, elimination needs, and emptying drainage devices.
- Responds to patient calls and anticipates patient needs. Assures patient safety and comfort through use of safe patient handling techniques, regular rounding, environmental maintenance, equipment maintenance, and other appropriate safety measures.
- Calculates intake and output (excluding IVs). Measures vital signs. Performs bedside blood glucose testing. Makes entries to patient health records as consistent with scope of job duties and in compliance with company policy.
- Initiates or assists with emergency support measures (i.e., cardiopulmonary resuscitation, protecting patient from injury).
- Performs post-mortem care.
- Sets up equipment and supplies for procedures. Prepares patients and rooms for procedures, admissions, and transfers. Discharges patients from system.
- Observes and reports information regarding any change in physical/mental condition, behavior, or status of the patient to the nurse.
- Collects and labels specimens.

Utilizes and maintains appropriate supplies in department. Supports staffing needs for patient care in multiple units, as needed, while being flexible with schedule and hours.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in Nursing or graduate from an accredited RN program required.
- Current RN licensure in the state of Iowa required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- Previous experience in acute care preferred, one year preferred.

As a Patient Care Tech at MercyOne, you will be supports the professional clinical staff by providing direct patient care and performing studies and tests as assigned. These duties may vary by shift or may be unit-specific.
Schedule:
- 12-hour shifts; 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM; Days; rotating weekends and Holidays
General Requirements:
- Delivers assigned patient care and treatment as delegated by an RN or LPN.
- Performs or assists patients with activities including personal hygiene, bathing, ambulation, transporting, range of motion exercises, dressing/undressing, feeding, changing bandages, elimination needs, and emptying drainage devices.
- Responds to patient calls and anticipates patient needs. Assures patient safety and comfort through use of safe patient handling techniques, regular rounding, environmental maintenance, equipment maintenance, and other appropriate safety measures.
- Calculates intake and output (excluding IVs). Measures vital signs. Performs bedside blood glucose testing. Makes entries to patient health records as consistent with scope of job duties and in compliance with company policy.
- Initiates or assists with emergency support measures (i.e., cardiopulmonary resuscitation, protecting patient from injury).
- Performs post-mortem care.
- Sets up equipment and supplies for procedures. Prepares patients and rooms for procedures, admissions, and transfers. Discharges patients from system.
- Observes and reports information regarding any change in physical/mental condition, behavior, or status of the patient to the nurse.
- Collects and labels specimens.
- Sets up, operates, and maintains selected pieces of equipment.
Minimum Qualification:
- Must be 16 years of age.
- Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certified within six (6) weeks of hire.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
Serves in a charge/leadership role based on skill and unit needs. When assigned charge, makes patient assignments; triages patients; and problem solves with staff, physicians, patients, families, and ancillary departments. - Takes assigned call as defined in unit policy. - Assists with patient care duties/tasks (i.e., emptying drainage devices, ambulating, and hygiene). - Assists with clerical duties (i.e., maintenance of chart, patient record, and answering phones and call lights). - Maintains patient care supplies, equipment, and environment. - Provides orientation/education for staff, students, and other hospital and community organizations as requested.
Minimum Qualifications
- Possession of a current or compact state licensure as a registered nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa
