Performs pharmaceutical procedures for medication preparation and distribution that ensure safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication therapy. Exercises sound judgment and develops clinical skills to provide pharmaceutical support to the patient's plan of care based on the diagnosis in a timely manner. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to ensure privacy and safety. May also be responsible for performing specific procedures and/or orienting other staff to the department.Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
- Prior Authorization: Process and submit prior authorizations for specialty medications; follow up with payers to expedite approvals.
- Financial Assistance: Assist patients in obtaining financial aid, including copay cards and grants; liaise with pharmaceutical manufacturers and assistance programs.
- Accreditation & Compliance: Ensure compliance with accreditation standards (e.g., URAC, ACHC); collaborate with the quality assurance team on documentation.
- Cold Chain Packaging & Shipping: Manage cold chain packaging for temperature-sensitive medications; coordinate shipping and track deliveries to ensure compliance.
- Patient Management: Support specialty pharmacy patients with medication adherence, refill reminders, and care coordination; communicate with healthcare providers.
- Coordination of Inventory Management: Coordinate with pharmacy and clinic teams regarding medication inventory, ensuring proper stock levels and timely replenishment. This includes tracking shipping and delivery of medications as needed in collaboration with the pharmacy team.
- Collaboration: Work with pharmacists, healthcare providers, and the pharmacy team to ensure seamless patient care and facilitate communication between the clinic and the pharmacy; participate in team meetings for workflow improvements.

- Clinic-based role that works closely with the pharmacy team. This position requires regular interaction with patients and healthcare professionals, ensuring smooth coordination of patient care. The role involves a fast-paced environment with an emphasis on compliance and regulatory standards in patient care and medication management.

- Knowledge and understanding of different Pharmacy practice settings, including narcotic delivery and procedures.
- Knowledge and ability to identify and employ pharmaceutical and medical terms, abbreviations, and symbols commonly used in prescribing, dispensing, and record keeping of medications.
- Requires basic working knowledge of legal requirements and accreditation standards, including The Joint Commission, Title XXII, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and United States Pharmacopeia (USP).
- Possess written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people.
- Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines
- General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook), related pharmaceutical technology, EHR, and EPIC.

Responsible for providing post-surgical recovery to patients. This position covers staffing as needed for PACU, Same Day Surgery, and Pre Operative Services.
We’re Looking For:
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing

POSITION PURPOSE
Provides Planned Maintenance (PM), safety testing, repairs, calibration, installation, routine and emergency service to general diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment, as assigned by the Clinical Engineering (CE) Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Performs PM procedures on multiple types of general and specialized clinical equipment.
Performs PM procedures using manufacturers' recommendations, standards or code requirements, as well as industry acceptable processes as guidelines.
Performs Corrective Maintenance (CM) procedures including diagnosing problems using thermodynamic, electronic/electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and/or other related sciences and documents results of activities performed to comply with all regulatory and standards requirements.
Notifies equipment users and Clinical Engineering Management of repair status and delays as necessary.
Interacts with clinical staff to understand and resolve operational problems in scheduling and completing PM procedures while minimizing interference to hospital departments.
Determines need for replacement parts and supplies, selects the most cost effective source, and submits properly completed parts request using established policies and guidelines.
Completes corrective and planned maintenance work order documentation.
Promotes teamwork by keeping others informed, participating effectively in group decision making, works to accomplish team objectives and projects, and solicits feedback about one's effectiveness as a team member.
Continually improves processes by seeking ways to eliminate and reduce waste.
Has authority (based on department guidelines) to order parts and supplies required for emergency service or repair of medical equipment. Recommends test equipment and spare equipment parts to the CE Manager or Lead Technician.
Provides on-call service coverage after normal business hours on a rotating basis, as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of an Associates of Applied Sciences Degree in related field of medical electronics, electronic technology or equivalent military related training required.
One to two-years experience or equivalent, performing corrective and planned maintenance on medical equipment per policy.
Must have a basic understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
Working knowledge and ability to use basic hand tools and test equipment specific to the field. Ability to train CE associates on use and application of select test equipment.
Must have knowledge and understanding of OSHA, NFPA, The Joint Commission, EOC, FDA and other specific regulations and standards pertaining to clinical equipment service and repair.
Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity and caring with ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals and values of Trinity Health, Ministry Organizations, and Clinical Engineering.

- Completes various errands as directed including pick-up and delivery of trays, charts, specimens, and reports. Maintains and orders stock for nursing area. Cleans equipment and work areas.
- Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties which require lifting and pushing/pulling while utilizing proper technique and assistive devices. Performs tasks related to nutritional needs of patient under direction of RN to include diet review, tray set up/removal, proper positioning and diet selection.
- Performs tasks related to maintaining skin integrity to include proper repositioning and skin care. Ensures special patient supplies and appliances are provided and maintained such as TED hose and sequential compression devices.
- Under the direction of RN and as determined by site/unit requirements, may be required to remove IVs, provide post mortem care, and bladder scans.
- Practices within policies and procedures of infection prevention by demonstrating hand hygiene and knowledge of sterile and aseptic procedures, proper disposal of contaminated materials and utilizing proper attire when in direct contact with patients in isolation.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Works with considerable independence to perform and interpret various chemical, microscopic, and/or bacteriologic tests to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Is fully proficient in the use of all equipment and procedures for an assigned area.Major Responsibilities:
- Follows established protocols to perform various tests, including the most complex, for an assigned area. Provides guidance and consultation to Medical Technologist I’s and Medical Lab. Technicians in the interpretation of complex or unusual test results.
- Interprets and correlates clinical test results with patient history, diagnosis, and clinical condition in order to explain test results (normal/abnormal) so that appropriate action can be taken.
- Troubleshoots testing process discrepancies.
- Assists in development new test and quality procedures for assigned area.
- Ensures that test results meet requirements of the laboratory quality control program.
- Ensures preventative maintenance for equipment in assigned area. Performs moderately complex troubleshooting, repair, and modification of a wide range of complex equipment and instrumentation.
- May assist in the roll-out of new equipment and equipment modifications.
- Instructs technicians and technologists in the set-up and operation of new equipment and procedures.
- Ensures compliance with all laboratory quality and safety policies.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
- Must Qualify as a General Supervisor under the CLIA regulations for high-complexity testing under 42 CFR 493.1461 with either a bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory sciences or medical technology from an accredited institution, PLUS 1 year of laboratory training or experience in high complexity testing. Also acceptable is an associate degree in a laboratory science or MLT from an accredited institution, with at least 2 years of laboratory training/experience in high complexity testing.
- Performs low, moderate and/or high complexity testing as required.
- Performs all testing and work assignments with a positive sense of urgency meeting all established turnaround times and deadlines.
- Follows established Hematology, Chemistry, and Blood Bank protocols perform tests including the most complex for an assigned area and prepares component blood products for transfusion. Provides guidance and consultation to lower-level technologists, technicians and others in the interpretation of complex or unusual test results and in the performance of standard operating Blood Bank procedures.
- Processes blood donor specimens for outside shipment and testing. Sends specimens and blood products between campuses and various sites using appropriate packaging and transport methods.
- Performs assigned duties to ensure an adequate inventory of supplies for the assigned area. Monitors inventory levels and stores equipment and supplies in a neat and orderly manner. Utilizes first-in/first-out (FIFO) inventory management practices.
