$38.20 - $57.305Main is a 36-bed acute care med/surg trauma unit.
We are an exciting and fast paced unit specializing in orthopedic and multiple trauma injuries.
Ortho trauma is the ultimate jump start to any nursing career and a strong foundation for any nurse. It provides an unparalleled base knowledge that transfers into that high-energy trauma care. Major Responsibilities:
- Engages in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices.
- Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, engaging patients and families through the continuum of care.
- Monitors patient conditions, adjusts care plans, mobilizes resources, and collaborates with the care team to influence care outcomes.
- Upholds and promotes a culture of safety.
- Continuously evaluates patient, team, and unit outcomes, taking action as needed.
- May administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely and according to clinical protocols and procedures.

- Maintains accurate, timely EHR documentation.
- May be required to float to other units, departments, care areas, or facilities within the designated service area to meet patient care needs.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
Minimum Job Requirements
Education
Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
Certification / Registration / License
- Basic Life Support (BLS). Additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be required based on specialty.
- Active registered nurse (RN) multi-state compact and/or single-state license with privileges to practice in the state(s) where the RN is providing client nursing services

- Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.
- Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.
- May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.
- Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.

CCU focuses on the care of the critically ill patient with medical diagnoses and complications; adult/geriatric patients whose complex medical and/or surgical needs require invasive monitoring and/or mechanical ventilation.
RNs new to critical care nursing are enrolled in the Critical Care Academy (CCA)
Major Responsibilities:

Independently works off assessment skills to activate patient care protocols to deliver patient care within the Tennessee paramedic scope of practice within the defined Vanderbilt paramedic scope of practice. Responsible for triage care in the field as well as the Emergency Department. Responsible for effective communication to ensure safe and quality patient care in paramedic team, transport and handover.LifeFlight Ground EMS started with a single ambulance in the fall of 2011, and after several expansions now includes a fleet pf 21 Advance Life Support (ALS) equipped ground ambulances operating from five locations in the Middle Tennessee areas: Nashville, Wilson County (Lebanon), Coffee County (Tullahoma), Montgomery County (Clarksville) and, Bedford County (adjacent to Vanderbilt Bedford). These ambulances predominantly focus on interfacility transfers and discharges from Vanderbilt affiliated medical facilities, with the ability to also support non- Vanderbilt facilities.

Actively participates with other members of the healthcare team to provide direct patient care.
Transports patients via various modes of transportation while providing quality ALS and Critical Care management to all ages.

The RN II position provides direct patient care effectively and efficiently which may include patients with varied and complex needs. This position communicates and collaborates with the physicians and interprofessional health care team to facilitate, coordinate and maintain compassionate, efficient, quality care and achievement of desired treatment outcomes. The RN II position demonstrates clinical competence when providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures and managing emergencies, acting as a patient and family advocate in order to monitor and maintain patient rights. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) plays a vital role in delivering specialized care and managing the health needs of patients in either inpatient, ambulatory, or a combination of both settings. With advanced training and expertise, the APP focuses on subspecialized care, including chronic illness and disease management, ensuring continuity of care throughout the patient’s healthcare journey, which may span multiple years. DEPARTMENT SUMMARY
We provide multidisciplinary, state of the art therapy that utilizes techniques such as stereotactic radiosurgery, intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), three dimensional treatment planning, brachytherapy, and intraoperative radiation therapy at five convenient locations. We are dedicated to improving treatment outcomes of all diseases treated with radiation and to finding new medical uses of radiation. Related to these goals is the education of graduate students, post-doctoral students and residents who will enter the field of radiation medicine including the allied field of Medical Physics.
Our team provides state-of-the-art anti-cancer therapy for patients through the use of new technology and continuous review of patient treatment outcome. We will continue to evaluate and improve the therapeutic effects of radiation from five fronts:
Basic science research to identify new biological modifiers and therapeutic targets.
Interaction with industry (pharmaceutical, imaging and radiotherapy) to validate the efficacy of new therapeutic tools
Medical physics research to improve the accuracy, precision and methods of radiotherapy delivery
Clinical research to study the benefits of new therapy treatments in patients

Independently works off assessment skills to activate patient care protocols to deliver patient care within his/her full scope of practice as defined by the state of Tennessee and LifeFlight's scope of practice. LifeFlight Ground EMS started with a single ambulance in the fall of 2011, and after several expansions now includes a fleet pf 21 Advance Life Support (ALS) equipped ground ambulances operating from five locations in the Middle Tennessee areas: Nashville, Wilson County (Lebanon), Coffee County (Tullahoma), Montgomery County (Clarksville) and, Bedford County (adjacent to Vanderbilt Bedford). These ambulances predominantly focus on interfacility transfers and discharges from Vanderbilt affiliated medical facilities, with the ability to also support non- Vanderbilt facilities.

Primary Patient Population (60%) – Surgical Oncology:
Pre- and post-operative care for solid tumor patients, including GYN, GI, and ENT cancers
Progressive/step-down monitoring, pain and wound management, drain care, and post-surgical recovery

Care for patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or radiation

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
- Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
- Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.
- Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.
- Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.
- May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.
- Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.
- Physical Abilities Testing may be required.
- Additional department specific physical requirements may be identified for unique responsibilities within the department by the nurse leader.
