Promotes medical equipment safety for WVUHS by performing maintenance and repairs and providing instruction and assistance to hospital staff for general patient care equipment. Assists hospital in reaching financial goals through effective equipment management.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Associate Degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics Technology or equivalent field
OR
Completion of a U.S. DoD Biomedical Equipment Maintenance Technician program
OR
High school diploma or equivalent AND Two (2) years of experience with repairs and maintenance of electronic, mechanical, or electrical assemblies.
2. Internal employees must meet all mandatory competencies in current position in order to qualify for promotion within IT.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. One (1) year of experience with repairs and maintenance of electronic, mechanical, or electrical assemblies.
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. They are not intended to be constructed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Maintains assigned equipment to minimize breakdowns and comply with accepted standards. Ensures completion of at least ninety-five percent of assigned scheduled inspections by the end of the month. Performs repairs on general patient care and related equipment in the hospital to minimize down‑time.
2. Provides input to Equipment Management program based on equipment and departments assigned. Evaluates and makes recommendations on new equipment/technologies being considered for purchase. Evaluates inspection criteria on general patient care equipment for frequency and content. Recommends equipment for planned replacement to assist hospital departments in formulating short and long range capital expenditures. Monitors equipment utilization in areas of responsibility and makes recommendations for reallocation.
3. Gains increased skills and knowledge through a combination of on‑the‑job training and formalized training. Assures technical competence in the biomedical engineering field by attending conferences, schools, reading literature, as needed to maintain high quality services. Performs scheduled inspections in departments not specifically assigned, equal to at least 10% of assigned workload. Continues to gain knowledge in the application of electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic theory. Continues to gain understanding of human anatomy, physiology and medical terminology as it pertains to medical instrumentation.
4. Project Coordination: Reviews, identifies and documents any issues, barriers, or risks and brings them to management’s attention. Provides Project/Task Coordination Services to customers as assigned. Participates in joint application and/or technical development sessions. Apprises status, schedule variances, and outstanding issues with team members and project managers. Manages workload deadlines without sacrificing quality of work. Completes proper documentation of work tasks per policy. Assists in controlling project costs and communicates any project-related expenses as assigned. Suggests ways to better accomplish assigned tasks. Successfully meets deadlines, users expectations and project goals. Participates in departmental and project teams as requested in a support role and reports all relevant information and/or notes back to the rest of the team. Manages expectations and engages management to review/resolve any potential changes to project scope, expected deliverables, etc. Participates in post implementation review of projects. Implement changes while adhering to the change control policy and procedures for the project in order to deliver a successful solution to the customer. Communicates to all parties the natures, significance and risk factors of corresponding projects.
5. Team Building: Participates in training and professional development sessions. Participates in departmental teams. Travels independently to remote sites and communicates back to the team while working offsite if assigned. Exhibits objectivity and openness to the view of others, including patients/families and customers. Offers assistance and support to co-workers. Contributes to building positive team spirit and cohesiveness. Balances team and individual responsibilities. Works proactively and cooperatively in group problem-solving situations. 6. This position may require travel to other West Virginia United Health System (WVUHS) facilities or affiliated sites to assist with implementations, training, and/or support.

Overview
Sentara Health is seeking a Medical Device Cyber Security Program Manager to lead and mature the enterprise medical device security program across a multi-hospital environment. This role will drive operational rigor, cross-functional alignment, and risk-based execution to help ensure medical devices remain secure, compliant, and aligned with clinical safety and enterprise cybersecurity requirements.
The Program Manager will partner closely with Cybersecurity, IT, Clinical Engineering/HTM, clinical operations, and third-party vendors to strengthen governance, improve vulnerability management, support audit readiness, and standardize processes across Sentara facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead execution and continuous improvement of the enterprise medical device cybersecurity program.
- Coordinate cross-functional workstreams across cybersecurity, IT, Clinical Engineering/HTM, clinical operations, and vendors.
- Oversee risk-based vulnerability management, including prioritization, remediation tracking, compensating controls, and executive reporting.
- Support governance forums, operating cadence, KPIs, and leadership briefings to monitor program performance and risk posture.
- Manage vendor accountability for asset data quality, patching, firmware updates, incident response, and resolution of cross-vendor gaps.
- Ensure program alignment with relevant cybersecurity, healthcare regulatory, audit, and accreditation expectations.
- Standardize processes for device onboarding, decommissioning, change management, and medical device incident response.
Education
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in IT program/project management with a bachelor's degree (Required)
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in IT program/project management without a bachelor's degree (Required)
Certification/Licensure
- Certifications such as PMP, PgMP, CISSP, HCISPP, or CISM (Preferred)
Experience
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity program management, healthcare IT, clinical engineering, or a related leadership role.
- Experience leading enterprise-wide or multi-site programs in complex operational environments.
- Strong knowledge of medical device ecosystems, clinical workflows, vulnerability management, and risk frameworks.
- Working knowledge of HIPAA Security Rule, FDA medical device cybersecurity guidance, and healthcare audit or accreditation expectations.
Preferred
- Experience in a large integrated delivery network or multi-hospital health system.
- Familiarity with IoMT security platforms such as Cynerio or Medigate.
- Knowledge of CMMS/CMDB integration, asset data governance, network segmentation, zero trust, and VLANs.

Responsible for overseeing and managing the HTM Asset Investment and Recovery (AIR) program operational functions to support the HTM inventory management program across AH. The AIR Supervisor is a direct report overseeing day-to-day operation of the AIR Warehouse.
Develops and implements tools and process for ongoing assessment of performance to include but not limited to: financial metrics for the medical equipment inventory and other HTM operations, operational metrics for HTM activities, reliability metrics for medical equipment inventory, and regulatory compliance of AH with medical equipment management.
Interacts with HTM leadership and the HTM Clinical Engineers for participation in any projects or initiatives of systemwide HTM operations. Monitors regulatory developments and identifies & coordinates implementation of appropriate compliance measures

Analyzes, troubleshoots, and repairs diagnostic or therapeutic imaging equipment and systems utilizing established electronic tests and measurement equipment and techniques.
Responsibilities may include work on a mix of Biomedical and Diagnostic Imaging equipment, but majority of work will be related to complex Diagnostic Imaging equipment.
Performs any required general service on imaging equipment and systems, in accordance with corporate and department procedures, manufacturers recommendations, physicists’ specifications and/or other applicable codes, standards, accreditation requirements, and state and federal regulations as applicable regarding radiographic and diagnostic imaging equipment.
Provides equipment related operational support on Imaging equipment to medical and clinical staff. Interacts with clinical staff on a regular basis to ensure needs are being met.
Acts as a technical resource for Biomedical Technicians to help them grow in ability, responsibility, and experience.
Assists in grooming Biomedical Equipment Tech's to provide first call on imaging equipment.
Documents and maintains accurate records of all inspections, repairs, adjustments, etc. performed on all equipment as performed by self or vendors.
Installs or assists in the installation of new imaging equipment, modifications, tubes, transformers, etc.
As applicable, coordinates and communicates with a radiation physicist as part of equipment quality assurance testing, calibration, and disposal for site licensing needs with the State department of public health.
Requests/orders necessary repair and spare parts according to established procedures and contract relationships.
Escalates situations or questions beyond their scope of knowledge or responsibility to appropriate staff.
Participates in both internal and external educational programs through professional associations, technical training courses, and seminars to develop and maintain the required current technical aptitude.

- Proficiently operates angiographic and ultrasound equipment used to perform basic to advanced procedures on inpatients and outpatients. Must perform and be proficient with all of the following procedures if performed at assigned facility or by assigned specialty at ASLMC (neuroendovascular, interventional radiology or interventional cardiology), which includes carotid stenting, cerebral intervention including embolization, coiling/stenting, angiograms and/or vertebro, kyphoplasty, chemo therapy, thera sphere embolization, adrenal and petrosal sampling, cryo and Radio Frequency (RF) ablation, and/or aortic aneurysm repair, advanced imaging applications, and complex peripheral interventions.
- Assists with interventional and surgical procedures as a scrub assistant with competent knowledge of equipment and equipment options, while working seamlessly with the attending and resident physicians. Serves as a resource to physicians on procedural equipment options.
- Monitors patients and alerts staff of life threatening changes in patient status. Applies the defibrillator and performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation when required. Provides assistance with emergency procedures, responding quickly and effectively as they occur.
- Identifies and processes images, assuring that images are of diagnostic quality. Assists clinical engineering staff in evaluating digital equipment to maintain consistent image quality.
- Compares requisitions to physician orders to ensure ordered exam accuracy.
- Post-processes images as directed and accurately identifies and labels images, identifying patient name, medical record unit (MRU) number, and location or position of scan on all images.
- Maintains records in accordance with various regulatory agencies, and enters patient and study information into the radiology information system, and documents billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.
- Serves as a technical resource, role model and/or preceptor for students and staff. Acts as a resource to staff at own facility and throughout the system.
- Facilitates clinical problem solving and collaborates with other departments to provide education on managing patients after procedures, and any other imaging department processes and procedures.
- Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- Radiographer license issued by the Illinois Dept of Nuclear Safety, and
- Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months, and
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
Education Required:
- Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology.
Experience Required:
- Typically requires 2 years of experience in an Interventional Radiologic Technologist role.

- Advanced knowledge of basic radiation safety and aseptic techniques.
