Assists physicians in the ophthalmologic care and treatment of patients.Job Duties:
- Assists physicians with examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, treatments, and dressings.
- Compiles preliminary histories on new patients.
- Records new problems, including all current medications, on return patients on EMR charting.
- Scribes in electronic medical record as dictated by physician.
- Tests visual acuity, near and distant, and intraocular pressures.
- Administers dilating agents for ophthalmic fundus examination upon successful completion of ophthalmic pharmacology exam.
- Escorts patients to waiting area.
- Performs ophthalmic testing, visual field testing, air tension testing, color vision testing, color sensitivity testing, automatic refractors, Retinomax, Keratometry, lensometry, Intraocular lens measurements, pachymetry, optical coherencetomography testing, photographic imaging and corneal topography.
- Assists physician with minor clinic surgery, special procedures, ophthalmic lavage, and preoperative preparation of patients.
- Provides postoperative instructions when indicated.
- Assists with and sets up laser treatments, including Argon, Krypton, and YAG lasers, ultrasound testing and cryopexy surgery.
- Performs ultrasound for measuring intraocular lens.
- Completes calculations of findings and obtains Keratometer readings.
- Prepares cultures and pathology specimens for the laboratory and transports to the correct areas.
- Takes and records vital signs.
- Cleans and prepares instruments and equipment.
- Sends for repair or exchange.
- Keeps examining rooms clean, orderly, and well stocked with supplies.
- Assists with the emergency admission of patients.
- Ensures patient is properly transported to hospital unit.
- Completes necessary charges for appliances, dressings, medications, special procedures, and testing for the patient.
- Orders pharmaceuticals, linen, stock, stationery, surgical instruments, and other ophthalmic supplies for clinic.

up to $20,000 sign on bonus for eligible applicants!!This position is for an Interventional Radiology Technologist with a primary focus in Neuro Endovascular procedures. The Neuro Endovascular Technologist functions as a critical member of the procedural team, directly assisting Neuro Endovascular and Vascular Surgeons in complex, high acuity cases.
GMC is a Level I Stroke Center, providing comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic management for the full spectrum of neurovascular conditions. The facility also accepts and treats all levels of aortic and peripheral vascular disease, utilizing advanced, state of the art endovascular and surgical techniques.
This posting reflects an opening for an IR Technologist I and we are seeking candidates for that position. Geisinger reserves the right to consider applicants for higher levels of this role to include IR Technologist II based on their skills, qualifications, and experience. Interventional Technologists independently perform or assist the licensed practitioner in the completion of cardiac, neuro, body, and/or vascular-interventional procedures. Interventional Technologists prepare, administer and document activities related to medications and radiation exposure in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, or lawful institutional policy.
Interventional Technologists are responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic or research purposes. Interventional Technologists perform radiographic, fluoroscopic, and other procedures and acquires and analyzes data needed for diagnosis at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner.
Job Duties:
- Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
- Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
- Preparing and/or administering, as applicable, medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data, post processing of data if applicable.
- Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers.
- Assists or performs diagnostic, fluoroscopic, or interventional procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Maintains intra-arterial access as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Panning of the procedure table during image production.
- Participates in physiological monitoring of patients.
- Performing manual hemostasis during and after the procedure.
- Operates and ensures the quality control of hemodynamic recording devices, electrocardiogram monitoring equipment/cardiac stimulator, oxygen consumption equipment, and blood analysis equipment.
- Initiates ACLS protocols as required for cardiac roles.
- Performs non-interpretive fluoroscopic procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Maintains and removes peripherally inserted central catheters as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Practice of sterile technique preparing for procedure including scrubbing, applying surgical gown, gloving, draping and setup of instrument table.
- Records, monitors, and assesses hemodynamic/electrogram data collected during procedures.

Required Certifications or Licensures:
Interventional Radiology:
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT-R) is required. New graduates must obtain primary certification prior to the start date. Advanced certification of ARRT-VI, ARRT-CI, and/or ARRT-CV must be obtained within two (2) years of hire date.
- Applicants hired after March 10, 2024, must complete steps required for advancing to level 2, including advanced certification, within 24 months of hire.
Cardiology:
- Graduate from an accredited cardiovascular technology specialty training program or Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT). Advanced certification of Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) must be obtained within two (2) years of date of hire.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months of date of hire.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 6 months of date of hire (Geisinger Medical Center campus only).
Education:

Geisinger offers outpatient Certified Medical Assistants a $3,000 bonus for eligible candidates. Geisinger has hundreds of community sites that allows Certified Medical Assistants to work to the top of their certification while providing top-notch care in an ambulatory setting.
Job Duties:
- Obtains and documents, using the rooming tool in the electronic medical record, the patient’s reason for visit, weight, vital signs, visit screening information, medication review, and pertinent information for provider.
- Sets up examination and treatment rooms between cases.
- Assists patient as needed to prepare for visit with provider, takes appropriate measures to assure patient’s safety and privacy.
- Provides direct patient care as directed by provider based on competency and needs of clinic, such as performs EKGs, wound dressings, and functions as support to the provider during minor surgical procedures and ancillary examinations.
- Prepares and administers medications according to policy and procedure after validation of knowledge and demonstration of competency. May not administer intravenous medications.
- Completes patient tests and treatments per provider’s order according to policy and procedure after validation of knowledge and demonstration of competency.
- Collects and prepares laboratory specimens and completes associated paperwork accurately and efficiently to expedite laboratory studies.
- Performs phlebotomy and may assist in specific laboratory functions relative to the testing, reporting, and quality assurance of laboratory specimens as educated and overseen by the laboratory.
- Performs receptionist and clerical duties to support patient care and functioning of the clinic, including matching and filing ancillary department reports, consultation and other medical reports in patients’ medical records.
- Documents in the appropriate sections to create a complete and accurate medical record.
- Uses the electronic medical record and scheduling system as designated.
- Facilitates timely appointments for patients. Completes referrals and pre-authorizations as needed.
- Collects co-payments.
- Under the direction of the provider and/or site lead, assists with orientation of new personnel.
- Executes and documents ongoing patient communication, as directed by provider, prioritizes communications to the provider, responds to patient questions and requests to ensure efficient use of provider time and timely response to patient needs.
- Reinforces patient education as directed by the provider to support patient’s understanding of instructions.
- May inventory medical/surgical supplies and pharmaceuticals non-controlled substances only to ensure adequate supply levels, verify expiration dates, document utilization, optimize organizational efficiency and space utilization.
- May have access to non-controlled medication storage/supply areas and can transport non-controlled medications as necessary to meet the needs of the clinic/unit.
- Prepares and cleans instruments.
- Follows protocols for sterilization and disinfection, including high level disinfection of instruments and equipment.
- Cleans/sets up examination rooms between patients using established infection prevention protocols.
- Follows hand hygiene and appropriate infection prevention precautions. Routinely inspects/observes condition and operation of diagnostic equipment and instrumentation to ensure proper operation and identifies need for preventive and/or corrective maintenance.
- Responsible for actively participating in patient safety and quality improvement program.

Job Duties:
Provides direct patient care and clinical support for physicians and other providers in the outpatient setting. Functions as an integral member of the health care team under the direction of the provider. Sentara Health is now hiring a Licensed Behavioral Health Therapist. This position will be a part of the Psychiatric Emergency Response team that assess patients in the Sentara Emergency Departments who present with behavioral/mental health concerns and will provide recommendations for treatment.
Education
Master’s Degree – Social Work, Counseling, or other related field – (Required)
Certification/Licensure
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) - (Required)
Experience
- At least 1 years of outpatient or inpatient experience (Preferred)
- Crisis experience (Preferred)
- Excellent clinical skills, documentation, and communication skills
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assesses the social, psychological, cultural, environmental, and financial situation, as well as disposition needs, for each assigned patient.
- Collaborates with patients, families, healthcare team members, and community agencies to develop and implement plans to address identified needs.
- Evaluates effectiveness of developed plans and initiates change as needed.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $75,712.00 - $114,420.80 annually. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs. Note: If an annual salary is posted, it is based on a full-time colleague working 2,080 hours annually.
