Job Description:
The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
Department/Position Overview:
This is a 41-bed Level III Trauma ED with 6 beds dedicated to a lock down psychiatric screening and treatment area. We are a stroke certified ED and receive STEMI and psychiatric patients. The ED treats about 150 patients per day with a dedicated radiology suite in the ED for plain film and CT imaging. We have a diverse nursing and ED Tech team.
Education:
ADN required, BSN or higher preferred.
Certification:
Virginia or compact multistate RN (Registered Nurse) license in good standing.
BLS
TNCC preferred
Experience:
RN Experienced in a hospital setting.
RN Experience in the ED highly preferred.

Facilitates accreditation by knowing, understanding, correctly interpreting and accurately applying accrediting and regulatory requirements and standards.
RN Clinician is responsible for reviewing provider post-payment inquiries and claim reconsiderations to ensure accurate coding in accordance with established coding guidelines, CMS guidelines, Health Plan Coding Payment Policy, and Claim Payment Policy. This includes evaluating correct code selection, appropriate use of modifiers, code bundling, unlisted codes, excessive procedures of the same type, procedures incompatible with the diagnosis, maximum frequency exceeded, and other coding edits. RN Clinician applies clinical knowledge and coding expertise to promote compliance, accuracy, and appropriate reimbursement. RN BSN Required. Must possess 3 years of acute care clinical experience. Previous Utilization Review and Post Payment Review a plus. MCG experience preferred. Knowledge of NCQA Preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of behavioral health diagnoses, treatment modalities, and levels of care.

- Knowledge of claims processing, billing practices, coding, and modifier requirements (preferred).

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Transitional Care Unit. This is a Full Time, Night Shift (12-hour shift) position.
Hours: 7PM to 7AM - Three 12-hour shifts (36 hours per week), with rotating weekends.
Department Overview: The rehabilitation nursing unit is a 16-bed medical/surgical unit that specializes in rehabilitation. Common diagnoses include, but are not limited to: CVA, spinal cord injury, amputations, major multiple trauma, brain injury, bilateral joint replacement, neurological disorders (i.e. multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, Guillain-Barre Syndrome and Parkinson’s disease), and cardiac/pulmonary disorders, including patients following heart transplants, Left Ventricular Assist Devices and patients with pulmonary hypertension on special medications no longer requiring titration. This unit does not have telemetry monitoring or ventilators.
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides patient care, supports independent and dependent activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal, and complies with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse. Observes patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and documents in a timely and accurate manner while reporting any change to the nurse or medical staff.

Requirements:
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required) and one of the following is required:
Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, or
Successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or
National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), or
National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), or
Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, or
Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, or
Current student enrolled in a clinical program (beyond prerequisites) having completed at least one semester of a Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Respiratory Therapist (RT) or Physical Therapist (PT) program, or
Current work experience within the last three years as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Nursing Assistant.
Certifications/Licensure:
