Join the Continuous Monitoring Unit (CMU) as a Telemetry Monitor Technician! Located at 79 Plain Street in Providence, RI, this night position is full-time at 36 hours per week.
The Telemetry Monitor Technician at Brown University Health is responsible for the continuous observation, analysis, and interpretation of cardiac rhythms. Collaborates with health care team to initiate, monitor, and communicate findings during telemetry monitoring patients at risk of harm due to medical conditions. This role supports high-quality, patient-centered care by promptly recognizing and identifying changes in cardiac rhythms or patient status and communicating the changes to the clinical team. Initiates code and rapid response teams for patients at risk of death or serious harm. The telemetry monitor technician ensures patient safety and operational excellence. The Telemetry Monitor Technician maintains accurate documentation, contributes to efficient workflows, and maintains inventory of equipment including storage, cleaning, troubleshooting and associated telemetry needs. The Monitor Technician demonstrates a commitment to patient centered care, safety, quality, and service excellence. The role collaborates effectively with interdisciplinary teams and contributes to a culture of accountability, respect and teamwork.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for understanding patient information related to current cardiac rhythm status and applicable vital signs, optimal cardiac rhythm status and vital signs, and prior variances/alarms.
Maintain awareness of assigned patients’ medical history, medications, and code status to support accurate monitoring and escalation.
Continuously monitors patient telemetry including cardiac rhythms, blood pressure, SpO2 reading, respiratory rate, Co2 level and additional vital signs depending on acuity level.
Obtains, interprets, and accurately documents rhythm strips as determined by policy, orders, or the healthcare team and with changes in patient condition.
Recognizes, documents, and communicates changes or abnormalities promptly to healthcare team including cardiac rhythms and/or applicable vital signs being monitored.
Provide timely communication of monitoring data and summaries to the healthcare team
Support the maintenance and troubleshooting of monitoring equipment to ensure reliability and performance.
Perform all responsibilities in alignment with organizational values, policies, regulatory requirements, and standards of care.
Admits, transfers, and discharges patients and enters all required information in the telemetry monitoring system.
Acts as preceptor and mentor to new monitor technicians.
Performs other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Works in a clinical environment requiring frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
Requires strong visual acuity, including color differentiation, and auditory ability for monitoring interpretation.
Demonstrates manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for equipment use.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Completion of ECG interpretation training or equivalent on-the-job competency validation.
Demonstrated ability to recognize critical rhythms and abnormalities.
Working knowledge of medical terminology.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 3 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in a clinical monitoring or patient care setting.
Additional healthcare-related education or certification preferred.

The Telemetry Monitor Technician at Brown University Health is responsible for the continuous observation, analysis, and interpretation of cardiac rhythms. Collaborates with health care team to initiate, monitor, and communicate findings during telemetry monitoring patients at risk of harm due to medical conditions. This role supports high-quality, patient-centered care by promptly recognizing and identifying changes in cardiac rhythms or patient status and communicating the changes to the clinical team. Responsible for understanding patient information related to current cardiac rhythm status and applicable vital signs, optimal cardiac rhythm status and vital signs, and prior variances/alarms.
Maintain awareness of assigned patients’ medical history, medications, and code status to support accurate monitoring and escalation.
Continuously monitors patient telemetry including cardiac rhythms, blood pressure, SpO2 reading, respiratory rate, Co2 level and additional vital signs depending on acuity level.
Obtains, interprets, and accurately documents rhythm strips as determined by policy, orders, or the healthcare team and with changes in patient condition.
Recognizes, documents, and communicates changes or abnormalities promptly to healthcare team including cardiac rhythms and/or applicable vital signs being monitored.
Provide timely communication of monitoring data and summaries to the healthcare team
Support the maintenance and troubleshooting of monitoring equipment to ensure reliability and performance.
Perform all responsibilities in alignment with organizational values, policies, regulatory requirements, and standards of care.
Admits, transfers, and discharges patients and enters all required information in the telemetry monitoring system.
Acts as preceptor and mentor to new monitor technicians.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Works in a clinical environment requiring frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
Requires strong visual acuity, including color differentiation, and auditory ability for monitoring interpretation.
Demonstrates manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for equipment use.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Completion of ECG interpretation training or equivalent on-the-job competency validation.
Demonstrated ability to recognize critical rhythms and abnormalities.
Working knowledge of medical terminology.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 3 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in a clinical monitoring or patient care setting.

Utilizes experienced-based knowledge with little technical supervision to perform all the duties of a MRI Technologist in routine and complex imaging procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
This position requires thorough knowledge of a specialized MRI technology. Must be registered and in good standing with the American Registry of Radiological Technology (ARRT) or the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT). Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy advanced MRI applications and computer operations.
Must hold a current CPR certification from AHA, BLS for Healthcare Providers.
Thorough knowledge of MRI procedures to demonstrate techniques and evaluate performance of other technologists including a basic understanding of the operation of computer consoles.
An in-depth knowledge of the MRI equipment in order to analyze equipment problems, troubleshoot and arrange for its repair.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Individual has prior experience working in a healthcare environment such as acute care hospitals, physicians ' offices or ancillary healthcare enterprises. Works with medical equipment and has direct patient contact. EXPERIENCE:
Registered nurses should develop general proficiency as a staff nurse within three months of employment. For specialty units, general nursing experience, appropriate to the specialty, is preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Prolonged standing and walking. Exposed to all patient elements. May be required to lift/turn patients and equipment. Repeated bending, squatting, stooping.

None.
PURPOSE
Supplemental staffing position to ensure continuous high-quality patient care through the effective use of per diem labor, and to define the requirements, responsibilities, and expectations of per diem Nursing employees.
ELIGIBILITY
All non-union facilities MA and RI.
Minimum of two-year, full-time experience.
OVERVIEW
Supplemental Staffing: Per-diem employees are used to cover staffing gaps due to absences, vacancies, or increased census, but are not guaranteed hours.
Weekend Hours: The Weekend Differential Zone starts at 11:00 PM on Friday and ends at 11:00 PM on Sunday. To qualify for the weekend premium there must be at least 2 hours in the zone.
GUIDELINES
Scheduling Process:
- After the 4-week schedule (graph) is completed, per diem shift needs are posted in Kronos.
- Per-diem staff are expected to self-schedule via Kronos Advanced Scheduling or contact their manager in areas using Basic Scheduling.
Monthly Commitment:
- Minimum of 24 worked hours per 4-week schedule, working 12 hour shifts.
- At least 12 of these hours must be night shifts (eligible for differential).
- At least 12 of these hours must be weekend hours, if available.
- If they work a 12 hour shift on the weekend at night it will meet the commitment requirement.Â
Holiday Commitment:
- One winter holiday: Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's
- One other holiday: MLK Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, or Labor Day
- Shifts canceled by the hospital will still count toward holiday commitments.
Cross Department Requirements:
- Per diem scheduling obligations must be met on the employees’ home unit before working in other units.
Failure to Meet Requirements:
- May result in corrective action or status review.
Canceled Shifts:
- Shifts canceled by management will count toward scheduling minimums.
- Working a shift to cover another employee does not count toward required hours.
STATUS CHANGE TO PER DIEM
- Must be approved by the current director/manager.
- Manager of record remains the same unless transferred to a new department.
- If working in multiple roles, dual job codes must be established with HR.
COMPENSATION
Per diem rates $60.00 RN. Eligible for shift differentials according to Brown Health Pay Practice and Eligibility Rules.

SUMMARY: Under general supervision of the Office Manager/Practice Manager /Medical Director, works independently to perform all administrative duties. These duties include but are not limited to preparation of patient records; registration and pre-registration activities; problem resolution; appointment scheduling; and co-payment preparation and collection, processing and reconciling billing information, scheduling testing, and providing patient education. The core Success Factors include: Instill Trust and Value Differences Patient and Community Focus and Collaborate RESPONSIBILITIES: Communicate with patient care unit – help utilize anesthesia staffing for inpatients that need to be done either next day or emergently.Relay information to anesthesiologists and assist coordinating time and available staff.Review anesthesia daily schedule/grid and determine if operating rooms can be aggregated to utilize anesthesia staff more efficiently.Contact gastroenterology/ catheterization lab / interventional radiology to re-schedule cases based on anesthesia availability.Plan ahead and ensure patient care unit cases (eg., catheterization lab/ interventional radiology /gastroenterology) have correctly booked anesthesia. If not, inform each department on how to fix.Communicate with other MD's/Fellows/Clinical staff to coordinate anesthesia consults and follow ups font-weight: 400; font-size: 1.6rem font-weight: 400; font-size: 1.6remSchedules patients using the scheduling system. This includes establishing the appointment type, specific provider, and appointment time. Schedules follow-up appointments.
