Position Purpose:
Provides patient focused customer service within the Emergency Department. Performs outpatient & / or inpatient registration & insurance verification functions; collects patient financial liability payments & ensures that patients meet financial requirements including Medicare medical necessity, payer pre-certifications & referrals. Provides general information to hospital users, patients, families, and physician offices.
Note: “patients” refers to patients, clients, residents, participants, customers, members
Minimum Qualifications:
·High School diploma or GED required.
·HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAArequiredwithin one (1) year of hire.
Essential Functions:
·Research, collect, and analyze information.
·Identify opportunities, develop solutions, and lead through resolution.
·Collaborates on performance improvement activities as indicated by outcomes in program efficiency & patient experience.
·Responsible for distribution of analytical reports.
·Utilizes multiple system applications to perform analysis, create reports, and develop educational materials.
·Synthesizes & analyzes data & provides detailed summaries including graphical data presentations illustrating trends & recommending practical options or solutions while considering the impact on business strategy & supporting leadership decision making.
·Leverages program & operational data & measurements to define and demonstrate progress, ROI, and impacts.
·Maintains a Working Knowledge of applicable federal, state & local laws / regulations, Trinity Health Integrity & Compliance Program & Code of Conduct, as well as other policies, procedures & guidelines to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical & professional behavior & safe work practices.

Required Qualifications of a Patient Access Rep II:
·Minimum of two (2) years of hospital registration or insurance verification experience.
·Knowledge of medical terminology, diagnostic coding, and procedural coding is required.
·Ability to explain insurance benefits.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education:
- Education: High School diploma or GED preferred. Able to read and write English. Possesses basic math skills
Experience:
Three to six months on the job training or previous experience preferred.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read, write and perform math calculations
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time – up to 100% of the work day.
- Ability to lift and push up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 50% of work time.

What you will do:
- Set-up and clean-up of tray lines assembly area to include (not limited to) hot and cold food items, silverware, dishes, napkins, salads, desserts, breads and beverages.
- Prepares work stations by stocking food and non-food items and equipment (as necessary)
- Work on assembly tray line stations and read tray tickets to provide correct food items
- Load trays on delivery carts
- Remove soiled serving trays from patient units, buses patient and customer serving trays
- Operate elevator to deliver and pick-up carts to patient care units and outpatient clinics.
- Take food service supplies (as needed) to patient rooms and outpatient clinics
- Deliver meals to patients’ bedside. Assist with all needs/respond/resolve all concerns and requests.
- Communicate with portable telephones to assure all patients’ needs are met.
- Operate mechanical dishwasher, clean equipment, kitchen areas and unload food from delivery carts.
- Cleans and sanitizes all metal ware cooking pots, pans, and utensils serving ware.
- May be asked to prepare simple foods like sandwiches and salad.
- Maintains various records such as tray delivery/pick-up schedule.

- Maintain a safe environment and remain with patient always to provide the appropriate level of observation to patient as delegated by the Registered Nurse.
- Appropriately document information that is required during the patient observation experience.

Physical Requirements
Work requires walking, standing, sitting, bending, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Must speak and understand English in good understandable terms. Must have manual and finger dexterity. Intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, touch.
Education, Experience and Certifications.
High school diploma or GED required. Previous hospital experience preferred. Basic Life Support Certification required. CPI certification required prior to conducting patient observation.

Minimum Qualifications:

Successful completion of an approved Pharmacology Course with NAPNES Certification, OOPNES Certification or Ohio Board of Nursing Card. Successful completion of an LPN IV therapy course with proof of certification.

Orders and maintains routine forms, and patient care supplies. Arranges for transport of documents, specimens or equipment to appropriate destination. Locates equipment, medical records or other items required to provide patient care. Assists with patient care:

Functions as a companion for non-restrained patients when needed based on patient care requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.

Education

Certification / Registration / License
