Our board-certified provider and team of medical professionals offer a comprehensive range of services including but not limited to: Pediatric and adolescent medicine, newborn care, immunizations, preventative and chronic illness management, and developmental screenings.Theoffice is convenientlylocatednear Freedom Park in Charlotte, NC
We’reLooking For:
Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association

Carolinas Rehabilitation Charlotte Inpatient Rehabilitation is part of one of the nation’s leading rehabilitation programs, providing specialized care for patients recovering from complex conditions including stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, amputation, and other life-altering illnesses. Exercise physiologists work as part of an interdisciplinary team to help patients improve functional mobility, endurance, and overall wellness in a supportive, patient-centered environment focused on restoring quality of life.
Job Description:
Assess, plan and direct patient mobilization and exercise programs in an inpatient setting. Works closely with other disciplines and specialties within the department and facility as well as patients and families to assure a cohesive approach to patient care.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree in a Health/Fitness field required; prefer Exercise Physiology degree. Master's Degree preferred.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: Exercise Specialist certified by the American College of Sports Medicine or eligible to test for the same. ACSM-CEP (Clinical Exercise Physiologist) or ACSM EP-C certification preferred. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) from AHA required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develops, implements, and performs patient mobilization and exercise programs
- Assesses the patient for contraindications and readiness for mobilization and exercise by reviewing the medical record
- Coordinates care with nursing or therapy services as appropriate
- Explains the role of mobilization to patient/family, verifies the order, and confirms patient identity
- Performs mobilization of patient and aids in adaptive positioning to maximize safety and performance.
- Monitors patient's performance and tolerance to mobility and exercise program. Adjusts plan as medically indicated.
- Assess and measure for appropriate durable medical equipment.
- Documents daily treatment notes and patient/family education.
- Notifies nursing or provider of changes in the patient's condition, performance, and response to treatment
- Communicates patient's status to nursing, clinical staff, therapy services, nurse manager, or operations manager.
- Coordinate care with patient's schedule and treatment
- Responds to emergency situations in a professional and prompt manner.
- In coordination with related staff may also cross train.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in exercise assessment and programming for healthy and diseased populations, group and individual instruction, exercise prescription, and counseling on healthy lifestyles.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- 2 years appropriate experience preferred.
- Hearing (corrected) adequate for oral/aural communication with patients, staff, family, visitors, etc.
- Vision (corrected) adequate for reading.
- Intelligible speech and adequate language/cognitive skills to perform job duties.
- Must be able to push patients in a wheelchair or stretcher.
- Must be able to transfer patients.
- Must be able to demonstrate any appropriate exercise and activities to patients/caregivers.
- Personal Protective Equipment such as gloves, goggles, gowns and masks are sometimes required due to possible exposure to hazardous chemicals or blood and body fluids.

- Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and documenting/updating pertinent health information (i.e. chief complaint, allergies, medications).
- Performs laboratory procedures (i.e. strep test, wound culture, specimen collection, etc.) using principles of aseptic technique and standard precautions / infection control guidelines.
- Assists the physician/provider with procedures and surgeries such as pelvic exams, allergy scratch testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy, etc.
- Administers medications, under physician/provider orders, including: immunizations, antibiotics, pain medications, vitamins, topical agents, and insulin. With limitations, initiates, maintains and discontinues IV therapy; administering selected fluids with pre-mixed medications.

Atrium Health Pre-Op Screening is part of the surgical division within the Charlotte Market. We are located in the Kenilworth Medical Office Building near CMC. We work with our anesthesia providers to complete a pre-op screen on patients prior to scheduled surgeries. We screen patients for CMC, Mercy and the One Surgery Center, approximately 150 procedures per day. The majority of the screenings are complete telephonically although we see some high-risk patients in the clinic. Our goal is to optimize patient safety and surgical outcomes. Monday-Friday (no weekends, no holidays, no on call). Hybrid work from home option following orientation and eligibility which takes approximately 6-8 months.

Physical Requirements
Requires strenuous physical effort while assisting patients from wheelchairs and stretchers. Handling equipment and monitoring supplies. Oral and written communication skills are required to interact with patients and hospital staff. Able to frequently stretch, bend, twist, squat or kneel in operating all radiographic equipment. Vision and hearing for distances of up to 20 feet is necessary. Will be required to carry weights up to 25 pounds. May be exposed to various physical conditions throughout the workday such as walking on hard surfaces, climbing stairs, and being near moving equipment. Able to adapt to changes in temperature and humidity. 50% of the work time is standing. 50% of the work time is operating computers, monitors, survey meters and other radiopharmaceutical preparations. Atrium Health University City Emergency Department provides 24-hour emergency medical services to the University City and surrounding communities. From broken bones and severe cuts to heart attacks and strokes, we are prepared to provide patients of all ages the highest level of emergency care. Our expert staff includes physicians who are board-certified in emergency medicine. Plus, we are backed by the breadth and depth of Carolinas Medical Center, the region’s only Level I Trauma Center.
We’re Looking For:
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
- Candidates must have at least 6 months of RN experience, this position is not for new graduates
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS required within 6 months of hire
- 1 year of inpatient RN experience preferred

- Supports patients/residents with activities of daily living.
- Assists patients/residents with personal hygiene.
- Takes vital signs and height and weight measurements.
- Feeds and ambulates patients/residents according to specific procedures.
- Maintains patient/resident's rooms in a clean and orderly condition.
- Observes and reports changes in patient/resident conditions.
- Orients patients/families to unit and instructs patient on safety measures.
- Assists with clerical work such as, including answering phones, entering data and maintaining medical records.
- Maintains stock supply items in inventory management.
- Performs duties as outlined in the scope of Nurse Aide I or Nurse Aide II tasks (per applicable state Board of Nursing Nurse Aide I and Nurse Aide II Tasks List).
- Perform technical tasks with appropriate training such as administering a 12- Lead Electrocardiogram test and routine venipuncture.
Physical Requirements
Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, stretching, stooping, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Must speak and understand English in good understandable terms. Must have manual and finger dexterity. Physical abilities testing required.
Education, Experience and Certifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Current listing with the DFS Nurse Aide Registry as a Nurse Aide I or with the applicable state Board of Nursing as a Nurse Aide II.
- BLS required per policy guidelines.

Atrium Health Mountain Island Emergency Department, a facility of Atrium Health University City, provides 24-hour emergency medical services to the Northwest Charlotte area. This freestanding ED treats patients of all ages, from minor injuries to critical conditions such as heart attacks and strokes, with care delivered by board-certified emergency medicine physicians and the full support of Atrium Health’s Carolinas Medical Center, the region’s only Level I trauma center. The department features six emergency rooms open 24/7, including one dedicated trauma room, a three-bay triage area, and two observation beds, along with on-site imaging services such as CT, ultrasound, fixed and portable X-ray, as well as laboratory and pharmacy support to ensure comprehensive patient care.
