Position Summary:
As the first point of contact for colleagues, patients, families, and visitors, the Guest Services Representative creates a welcoming and resourceful environment that reflects our mission and values. This highly visible role requires professionalism, strong communication, and problem-solving skills to ensure an exceptional experience for every guest. Responsibilities include greeting and assisting visitors, supporting basic patient care needs, and maintaining safety by following approved processes and regulatory guidelines. The ideal candidate brings a positive, can-do attitude, thrives in a fast-paced setting, and is committed to delivering excellence in every interaction.
What the Guest Services Representative will do:
- Communicates, collaborates, and welcomes colleagues, patients, visitors, volunteers and families.
- Provides visitor stickers to all patients and visitors entering the hospital and ensures vendors, contractors and colleagues are properly credentialed.
- Provides wayfinding services and assists in escorting patients towards their destination. .
- Assess patient or visitor's needs and determines next steps to support their experience and safety. Recognizes and refers questions of a medical or personal nature appropriately.
- Follows screening guidelines if in place to ensure appropriate access to the facility.
- Ensures timely delivery of patient items – flowers, balloons, cards, personal belongings, etc.
- Assists patients to ensure parking tickets are appropriately validated.
- Appropriately accesses and utilizes computer systems, while abiding by HIPPA guidelines.
- Understands operating procedures, cash-handling processes (required while working in certain locations), compliance reports and duties at all Guest Services locations.
- Assesses and retrieves daily supplies needs from the main supply and maintains a clean environment.
What the Guest Services Representative Will Need:
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft office products (word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software).
- Familiarity with standard desktop and windows-based computer system and other software.
- Preferred: Certification or Associates degree in healthcare, business, or related field.
- Preferred: One to two years guest/customer services experience
- Preferred: Efficiency in typing.

JOB SUMMARY
The Sterile Instrument Technician provides care to patients undergoing procedural intervention in compliance with policies and procedures of Surgical Services, AORN, JCAHO, OSHA, and AAMI standards. The sterile instrument technician must have a working knowledge of decontamination, instrumentation, sterilization, and the building of case carts. The Technician is also responsible for the processing of any sterilized product across the hospital. The sterile instrument technician provides technical assistance with all procedures throughout various departments of the hospital under the supervision of the Sterile Processing staff leader.
PERFORMANCE DUTIES
- Decontamination: Receives soiled case carts and soiled instruments into the decontamination area; Scans all instruments into the instrument tracking system. Prioritizes instruments needed for turnaround (i.e., instruments on the needs list. Hand-wash and pre-soak instrumentation in enzymatic solution. Has working knowledge of ultrasonic and automated washer functionalities. Selects rack and cycle for type of instruments to be cleaned. Wash case carts in cart-washer. Changes solutions for instrument and cart washer when indicated. Refills solution containers daily, ensuring proper solutions are used.
- Core: Acts as a liaison between OR suites and SPD to communicate the changes and needs for subsequent cases. Performs daily tests and biologicals on sterilizer and Steris and maintains records of flash sterilization. Transports sterile items to the OR suites. Checks case carts for needed items. Returns unused items to sterile processing.
- Instruments: Maintains effective communication with OR, Management, Physicians, peers and interdisciplinary team to provide the appropriate instrumentation to start and maintain the surgery. Assists in proper technique in handling instruments. Check and update needs list regularly. Assembles instruments in order of importance:
- Instruments and sets on needs list.
- One of a kind instruments and sets.
- All other instruments and sets.
- Inspects all instruments for damage after decontamination.
- Determine repair procedure when needed; place in appropriate “on-site” container, communicate and identify what repair is needed.
- Check case carts for accuracy before being sent to the core. Replaces damaged instruments. Wrap instruments/sets in appropriate wrapper/container.
- Sterilization: Has working knowledge of all sterilization techniques in SPD and OR. Is able to trouble shoot sterilization problems within SPD and OR. Initiates daily sterilization routine:
- Check and remove debris from drain baskets.
- Inspect sterilizer door gaskets for cracks/damage.
- Check steam pressure.
- Perform Bowie Dick air leak test and record results. Prepare the biological indicator test packs.
- Initiate routine biological monitoring.
- Record results of previous biological monitoring.
- Report problems to Coordinator/Coordinator Assistant/Charge Tech.
- Initiate recall procedure if necessary.
- Prepare label gun with correct date and identification number.
- Stamp each item to be sterilized with the load number.
- Load items into Impress System.
- Arrange items on the loading cart for proper penetration of steam and elimination of liquid.
- Initiate and monitor sterilization cycle.
- Check sterilization cycle record tape at the completion of the cycle and initial tape.
- Remove load from sterilizer and place load away from vents for cooling.
- Transfer sterilized items to “Home Location” using the Impress system. Place the sterilized items onto the appropriate shelf location.
- Case Carts: Demonstrates a working knowledge of EPIC as it relates to pulling pick lists and schedule. Is able to assemble case trays for every service and procedure performed within St. Mary Mercy Hospital. Maintains accurate preference cards-adjustments are to be made the same day as change is made. Builds case carts accurately and indicates missing items on the pick sheet. Prepares case carts by Physician/Surgeon preference card. Prepares needs list for sterile instruments and supplies for the next days cases. Replaces emergency carts ASAP.
- Other Duties: Distributes crash carts when distribution services are closed. Decontaminate PLUMs, PCA and epidural pumps. Decontaminate all specialty carts including crash carts for all units and services of the hospital. Demonstrate a positive, friendly, respectful demeanor to everyone who comes in contact with the Sterile Processing Department. Etc.

This position conducts heavy cleaning and floor care work such as carpet cleaning, stripping/refinishing hard floor surfaces, and special projects. Operates and maintains power cleaning equipment and responds to assigned service requests such as project cleaning, equipment removal, trash or linen removal. Sets an example of excellent customer service while maintaining a safe and clean environment and identifying safety issues related to housekeeping.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Responds promptly to all requests for cleaning services via computerized and paper based tracking systems. Conducts requested work, such as removal, replacement, cleaning of equipment and furniture, or cleaning of an area. Maintains reports by keeping task and infection control logs of completed daily tasks and events, and documentation required for the request tracking system. Focuses on, and serves as a role model of, responsive customer service.
2. Performs specialty cleaning and infection control functions in specialized areas such as clinical areas, surgical suite, Cath lab, specialty rooms, and sterile areas. Conduct specialized gowning and cleaning procedures specific to infectious elements in isolation rooms. Maintains proper Infection Control cleaning standards at all times, including hand hygiene requirements.
3. Maintains cleanliness and operational functioning of department equipment and notifies appropriate personnel of needed repairs. Protects equipment from damage by proper use and properly logs out and in equipment that is used.
4. Assesses environmental conditions to ensure that the facility is neat, clean, safe and orderly. Anticipates and resolves clutter and safety issues. Exercises judgment in deciding which problems need to be quickly referred to a Supervisor for assistance. Maintains communication with immediate supervisor and/or facilities services staff, about status of repair completion in the facility; follows up as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must have a working knowledge of how to operate typical industrial cleaning equipment and the use of cleaning techniques appropriate to the healthcare environment. Must have basic math skills. - Lead and oversee payer contract modeling, reimbursement analysis, and contract management activities to support accurate expected reimbursement and organizational financial objectives.
- Manage, mentor, and develop analyst staff, including workload prioritization, project assignment, performance management, training, hiring, and corrective action as appropriate.
- Provide financial analysis, recommendations, and reporting to support payer contracting strategy, negotiations, budgeting, revenue forecasting, and operational decision-making.

The Short Stay Unit has 25 bays, and 18 rooms for a total of 43 beds. Short Stay primarily supports adult patients greater than 18 years of age. Education

What the Security Officer will do:
- Intervenes with disorderly individuals, using non-violent crisis intervention before physical intervention takes place.
- Assists nursing staff with clinical ordered patient restraints and management of combative patients.
- Performs vehicle parking lot patrols; provides security escorts as assigned.
- Greets, directs and assists customers, visitors, patients and colleagues of Trinity Health throughout the organization, including emergency room and patrolled areas of the facilities.
- Assists with way finding and guidance as needed. Escorts, patients, visitors, and colleagues to and from their vehicle when necessary. Directs customers to appropriate areas of the hospital by physically walking to the area or engaging another officer to provide escort.

- Upon authorization by the Director and completion of chemical agent training, may carry chemical agent spray while performing uniform job functions.

What the Security Officer will need:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Six months in a customer service-related role with strong communication and de-escalation skills.
- Valid State of Michigan driver's license at time of hire, AND insurable under Trinity Health liability insurance guidelines with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to complete training in Chemical Agent Sprays, handcuffs/restraints, Pressure Point Control Tactics (PPCT), Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), and other defensive tactics.
- No criminal record.
- Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management or related field.
