Location: Trinity Health Ann Arbor
Position Purpose:
The PCT, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care.
Shifts Available: 6:30 am-3:00pm; 2:30pm-11:00pm
Status Available: Part-time
Every Other Weekend and Holiday per year required for Full-time and Part-time team members.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / LICENSURE
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long term) or successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
- Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.
What you will do:
- Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success.
- The PCT assists patient in completing ADLs including: Bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection.
- A PCT will collects and send specimens including blood and blood cultures and inserts and removes peripheral IV catheters. They are responsible to record patient information and required data in appropriate areas in order to meet documentation requirements.
- A wide variety of general surgery patients, including: Colorectal, hepatobiliary, thyroid/parathyroid, and vascular trauma.

General Summary
Surgical Technologists are responsible for providing direct and indirect patient care in the Operating Room to our Neuro-Opthy and Spine patient populations using State of the art technology such as robotics, 3D Cranial and Retinal programs, stealth navigation and O-ARM just to name a few. We are a nationally recognized program dedicated to improving the lives of our patients and providing Remarkable Care to EVERY PATIENT EVERY TIME. The position is Full Time. 5 - 8-hour days but on call and late-night shifts per week and weekend rotations required. Must be within 30 minutes of hospital when On Call.
Neuro/Ophthalmology/Spine Team
Alternating Day shift: 8am-430pm and 1030am-800pm
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
Education: Associates degree in Surgical Technology OR two (2) years of surgical technologist experience
Experience: No experience required with Associate’s degree; without Associate’s degree, two (2) years of surgical technologist experience required.
Certification/Licensure: Certification preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with patients, surgeons and other patient care personnel, often during emergency or stressful situations. Analytical skills necessary in order to organize and prepare operating room according to best practice methods and procedures. Mechanical aptitude to operate a large variety highly technical medical equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Supports the philosophy, policies, and procedures of the division of nursing and Department of Surgical Services.
2. Scrubs for surgical cases according to established sterile procedures and changes into operative clothing, dons sterile gowns and gloves, and assists the surgical team with the same.
3. Prepares for scheduled operative procedure by arranging sterile set up of instrument table with drapes, instruments and sutures required for procedure according to surgeon preference and maintains sterile field throughout the case.
4. Passes instruments, sponges, sutures, and other sterile supplies and equipment to surgeons and assists during procedures, holds retraction devices, anticipates and responds to surgeon needs during course of surgery.
5. Assists RN with circulating duties such as opening supplies, assisting with positioning, obtaining equipment and supplies, bagging sponges, and preparing the operative site.
6. Passes surgical specimens to the circulating nurse with proper verbal identification of source of specimen, as verified by the surgeon.
7. Counts sponges, needles, and instruments used during surgery; at the beginning of the case, before closing, final counts and when relieved at the end of the shift prior to end of case. Assists with dressing of operative site following closing.
8. Operates and cares for surgical equipment, instruments and supplies per department policy and or manufacturer recommendations.
9. Demonstrates current knowledge regarding development in surgical equipment and trends and techniques through appropriate in-service programs.
10. Actively participates in Trinity Health quality improvement process through current problem solving and process improvement methods. Demonstrating continued support of the hospital’s commitment to continuous quality improvement.
11. Completion of required Healthstream and other educational requirements as identified.
12. Provides quality patient care by considering the age specific, developmental, and cultural needs through competent clinical practice. Demonstrates unit/area competencies.
13. Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution.
14. Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, employees, and visitors to Saint Joseph Mercy Health System. Discusses patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places.
15. Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.
16. Behaves in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of Saint Joseph Mercy Health System.

S5 North is a 34-bed medical inpatient unit housing medical observation, stroke, and general medicine patient populations. The unit has the capability to monitor up to 16 patients on telemetry. The staff work together as an interdisciplinary team to provide respectful, patient-centered care for a diverse patient population. 5 North offers great learning opportunities, the chance to learn and hone many skills, sets the foundation for nursing practice, and facilitates the development of critical thinking as care is provided to a variety of diagnoses. Nurses on this unit earn their NIHSS certification within the first 6 months of hire.
Shifts Available:
Status Available: Full time Every Other Weekend and Every other Holiday per year required for Full-time and Part-Time team members.
Required Qualifications:
Education

POSITION PURPOSE
The Vascular Surgery NP/PA Surgery provides health care services under the direction of collaborating surgeons in the Department of Surgery under the direction of the Advanced Practice Professional team (APP). Under the direction of the surgeon and the Director of APPs, the NP/PA is responsible for coordinating the health care plan for the assigned patient population by collaborating with consulting physicians and health care professionals. The NP/PA carries out physician orders and maintains the continuum of care through the coordination and integration of all phases of patient care, guided by progress notes, consults, care plans, critical pathways, managed care guidelines, best practice protocols, evidenced based care, and the utilization review processes. In partnership with the supervising physician, the NP/PA evaluates care based on quality and core measures, access and cost effectiveness. The NP/PA contributes to excellence in patient care by focusing on age specific, developmental and spiritual needs and serving as a role model in patient care, consulting, teaching, and leadership.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical care for Vascular Surgery patients:
- Formulate and implement medical plans of care for acute management of all Surgery (inpatient, emergency department, and consult) patients with collaborating physicians.
- Assist with evaluation and triage of emergency room patients.
- Provide direct clinical services for surgical patients according to established protocols, using evidence-based practice and clinical practice standards, under the supervision of the collaborating physicians.
- Patient work-up, including history and physical examination with ordering of appropriate laboratory tests, x-ray studies and other diagnostic studies as indicated.
- Completion of daily hospital work rounds including pre and post operations and charting of progress notes as required or as assigned.
- Completion of discharge summaries, chart rounds, staffing conference summaries and consults as directed by service needs.
- Participation in the care of off-service patients as indicated by supervising physician request.
- Order appropriate diagnostic and laboratory data under the direction of the supervising physician and communicate results to physicians and other health care providers.
- Assess changes in patient status and institutes routine and emergency interventions to stabilize patients under the direction of the supervising physician and APP team.
- Document plan of care and patient progress in medical records and narrative summaries.
- Evaluate and document patient outcomes and revises the plan under the direction of collaborating physicians in association with other specialty consultants.
- Help facilitate discharge planning along with patients, families, other members of the health care team and referral agencies.
Collaborative role with other disciplines:
- Act as the daily central liaison to all health care team members for patient care concerns
- Coordinate speech, physical and occupational therapies
- Participate in patient care conferences and peer quality review with collaborating physician, consulting medical teams, and other health care disciplines
Education Focus:
- Explain the purpose, preparation and potential effects of the procedure to patient and families
- Provide pre-operative teaching and discharge planning to patients and families.
- Design, instruct, and review information and programs pertinent to the inpatient and outpatient surgical population.
- Participate on hospital, nursing and medical committees as designated.
- Serve as a hospital resource to staff, patients, and families.
- Develop and implement a personal continuing education program to maintain current knowledge of surgical care and associated medical concerns.
- Maintain good rapport and cooperative relationships.
- Approach conflict in a constructive manner.
- Help to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution.
- Maintain the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patients, physicians, employees and visitors to Trinity Health Ann Arbor.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
NP Education:
Master’s Degree in clinical nursing from an accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program with emphasis on area of certification/licensure.
NP Licensure:
Current certification by a nationally accredited professional nursing organization such as American Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Successfully pass the certification exam from accredited certifying organization approved by the Michigan Board of Nursing relative to the CNP's designated specialty. Acceptable certifications: Acute Care Adult Gerontology Acute Care and Adult NP. Alternate certifications prior to January 2019 may be accepted or approved if currently practicing at a Trinity Health facility or if there is adequate clinical experience in subspecialty area.
PA Education:
Requires graduation from an ARC-PA accredited PA program.
PA Licensure:
Current License/Certification as Physician Assistant with the State of Michigan.
Experience:
Surgical experience preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.

This position is responsible for the delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients using the medication use process. This position is accountable for documentation of all components of pharmaceutical care they deliver to patients. Oversees the activities of pharmacy technicians and interns, coordinating workflow and approving medications prior to being dispensed. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients being served. Must assess data reflective of the patient’s status, interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements and provide pharmaceutical care based on those needs. Adheres to local, state, and federal laws regarding the profession of pharmacy practice.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Processes medication orders and evaluates their appropriateness and completeness with respect to patient data including age, height, weight, diagnosis, laboratory values, and other pertinent patient information.
2. Utilizes clinical pharmacy skills to assess patient medication regimens and formulates recommendations to ensure optimal safety, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness for all prescribed medication therapies. Provides requested medication information in a timely manner.
3. Complies with directives of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee/Clinical Consensus Group. Documents activities related to patient care in the electronic medical record and other electronic databases as applicable (e.g. pharmacist to pharmacist/provider communication, adverse drug event reporting, and clinical interventions).
4. Drives their professional development through the utilization of BPS educational resources to achieve competence in the current and future BH acute pharmacy core clinical practices and activities. Additionally, assist with training and onboarding of new staff as applicable.
5. Prepares and dispenses medications, including sterile or non-sterile compounded medications, in an accurate and timely manner in compliance with company policies and procedures and established regulatory requirements. Coordinates medication preparation and distribution and ensures accuracy prior to dispensing medications.
6. Oversees the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy, which may include management of technology, inventory management, and accurate record keeping. Supervises and directs the work of pharmacy technicians, interns, and students.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires unrestricted Pharmacist licensure in the state of practice and a degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy.
Incumbents in Arizona are also required to provide the AZ Board of Pharmacy Wallet Card at time of hire.
If not licensed in the state of practice, must have completed the Board of Pharmacy application process within 30 days of job offer. Must be licensed within 90 days of hire unless the delay is due to the State Board of Pharmacy.
Banner Registry and Travel positions require a current and unrestricted Pharmacist license (not intern) at the time of hire and a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting. Under the direction of the appropriate licensed clinician, the Patient Care Technician I performs a variety of patient care activities. Receives workplace education and training to assist members of the healthcare team in the care of patients.I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients. Examples, but not limited to changes in skin condition, vital signs, and/or mental status.
2. Provides constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse or designee.
3. Participates in the development and maintenance of a safe environment. Works to utilize interventions to de-escalate patients and if unsuccessful participates in restraints in accordance with training and education as directed.
4. Assists patient with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, ambulating, meals and nourishment.
5. Assists in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients by utilizing proper safety techniques and body mechanics in all work-related activities.
6. Maintains patient safety by performing patient safety checks, utilizing fall prevention alternative devices/strategies as directed, and following the Restraint Policy standards when caring for a restrained patient.
7. Takes and records vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure and pulse oxymetry). Measures and records patients’ weights and heights.
8. Performs EKG’s, Point of Care (POC) tests and bladder scanning. Collects, labels and prepares specimens for transport to lab.
9. Performs other selected unit specific procedures, such as battery changes for telemetry units, checking status of unit equipment, cleaning equipment between patients and proper storage of supplies.

Understand sterile procedure and assists with setting up sterile trays, where applicable. Adheres to radiation safety policies. Escorts patients back to the patient exam rooms, takes vitals and patient history; may assist with patient treatment to include peripheral IV insertion, IV discontinuation and Point of Care Testing (POCT) if required by the assigned facility (completion of Banner’s peripheral IV insertion course and validation of skill must be completed prior to any peripheral IV insertion and discontinuation performed. Works with Trinity Health Supply Chain Procurement and follows their policy's to create a compatible working relationship with the THCE teams in the field and the vendors.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology and physical therapy treatment and modalities.
Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients and patients' families when providing treatments and instructing same in use of therapeutic devices and methods as well as with other treatment team members when gathering and exchanging patient condition/progress information.
Analytical skills necessary to evaluate patients' physical and functional status, establish therapy goals, formulate treatment plans consistent with goals, and observe patients and document progress/condition.
Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 80% of work time when administering treatments, observing patients and maintaining records.
Able to react quickly in sudden unplanned situations in order to prevent or minimize injuries to patients and/or staff.
Able to walk stand for up to 50% of work time while administering treatments. Able to lift, push and pull weights with an effective force of approximately 40-60 pounds (with or without mechanical devices or other personnel) for up to 20% of work time when positioning and moving patients.
Able to communicate effectively with patients, patients' families and other health center personnel.

JOB SUMMARY
The primary duties of the Speech Therapist are to test and measure those patients with speech, language, cognitive, hearing, and/or swallowing impairments. As prescribed by a referring physician, the ST evaluates, establishes a treatment plan, and treats the patients. The ST is mindful of the diagnosis and considers all precautions, indications and contraindications of care.
PERFORMANCE DUTIES
Provide effective, outcome related patient care demonstrated through patient/customer satisfaction and goal accomplishment.
Practices understanding and compliance with all legal, regulatory and reimbursement criteria.
Documentation must be concise, objective, and legible. Content should meet all reimbursement criteria and accreditation standards.
Able to identify patient barriers to learning and is able to incorporate appropriate teaching methodology to ensure patient/family understanding.
Demonstrates a commitment to professional growth and maintaining current day treatment skills.
Able to effectively organize responsibilities so that maximal patient contacts and efficiency are achieved.
Communicates effectively and in a timely manner with all patient care team members.
Demonstrates flexibility with changing patient volumes and types. Responds to departmental change in a supportive manner.
Provides education to hospital employees and the community at large as requested.
AGE SPECIFIC CRITERIA This position does provide patient care.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
A. Education
M..A. or M. S. in Speech Language Pathology or Communication Disorders from and accredited graduate program.
B. Certification
Awarded by the American Speech Language Hearing Association
C. Training and Experience
Previous experience in acute care and swallow disorders is preferred but entry-level positions are also available.
Membership or eligibility for membership in the American Speech Language Hearing Association.
