FSBPT Certification.
State of Michigan Physical Therapist License or eligible to obtain licensure prior to hire date.
American Heart Association BLS or equivalent

Position Purpose:
Assists with the planning, purchasing, installation, and preventive maintenance of anesthesia equipment and supplies. Functions as a liaison to other departments regarding anesthesia supplies and equipment. Assists the Department of Anesthesia with patient care. What the Perioperative Service Tech Will Do:

Minimum Qualifications:

Position Purpose:
Providing respiratory care, including, but not limited to, ventilator care, aerosolized medication delivery, mucous mobilization, resuscitation, acquisition of arterial blood gases, education and supervision of respiratory therapy students. Registered Respiratory Therapist are also responsible for performance of bedside assessments and providing assistance to physicians and other healthcare providers with questions regarding respiratory care. Performance of diagnostic procedures related to respiratory care including EKG acquisition and pulmonary function determinations.
What the Registered Respiratory Therapist Will Do:
Familiar with all respiratory therapeutics and their actions, expected results and possible side effects.
Responsible for complying with all policies including those dealing with incomplete orders, medication of therapy, adverse reactions, automatic stop orders, infection control, patient restraints and safety regulations.
Perform all respiratory and cardiac diagnostic studies on patients of all ages.

Virtual Registered Nurse (VRN) Role: The virtual registered nurse leverages technology to deliver patient care remotely, collaborating with bedside staff and the broader care team to ensure quality outcomes and timely discharge. Core responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Conducting admission screening, patient/family education, discharge planning, and medication dual acknowledgments via secure digital platforms.

Patient Representative Bronson Battle Creek Full Time Nights 19:00p-7:30aPatient Representatives are instrumental in ensuring the efficient and effective flow of patient access needs throughout the organization. Responsibilities may include greeting and registering patients, gathering and entering appropriate demographic and insurance/billing information, verification, scheduling appointments, providing patients with financial information, price estimates and the collection and entry of payments. Current knowledge of billing and coding requirements and the ability to apply these based on industry standards is required. Ability to resolve patient financial issues and negotiate payment arrangements. Representatives must fully understand the ramifications and impact of incomplete or inaccurate information to patient care and the overall revenue cycle. Position works in a team environment and delivers exceptional customer service. Other duties as assigned. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Patient Representatives assigned to an Emergency Department team will be placed into a weekend standby rotation based on facility. This standby rotation begins Friday at 7pm to Monday at 7am. This standby rotation could occur from two to no more than six times a year.
- Previous customer service experience required.
- Medical Terminology, CPT and ICD-10 coding strongly preferred.
- Basic typing at 45 WPM, basic ten key, and computer skills within a Windows environment.
- Experience with multiple computer applications/operating systems, and office machines.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality requirements, insurance payer regulations and requirements, and patient rights.

Bronson South Haven Specific:
Emergency Department: SALT triage, ESI Triage, and NIH Stroke Scale to be completed within 90 days of hire date. Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC only required for FT and part -time nurses) within 6 months of hire date. Special Care Unit: All nurses in department will need to have Pediatric Advance Life Support certification within 6 months of hire.
RNs in Labor & Delivery and Mother/Baby/Antepartum at BMH & BBC Specific:
The Fetal Monitoring Credential (FMC) is required within 6 months of completing the AWHONN intermediate fetal monitoring course; completion of the National Certification Corporation (NCC) Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) board certification is alternatively preferred, though not required.

- Education: High school graduate or equivalent plus EMT/Paramedic, 2nd year nursing student, CNA, MA, or healthcare related higher education training.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy from accredited university and licensure in the State of Michigan. Certification with the NBCOT preferred.
Licensure: State of Michigan Licensure in good standing.

Must be able to apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and mechanical functioning of the body to specialized techniques in the treatment of patients.
Must know how to position patients with various diseases in good functional positions so that injury or deformity is prevented.
Must understand and have ability to teach techniques and their application to different diagnoses.
Must have working knowledge of various ADL techniques and their application to different diagnoses.
Must have basic knowledge of various disease processes and their effect on the human body in relation to physical disabilities.

Must have knowledge in receiving referral from doctor and following mandates.

Must be able to adapt treatment when revision is indicated by change in patient’s status.
Must be able to note and record patient’s progress and making reports accessible to medical staff and other team members.
Must have knowledge in preparing patients for discharge by providing home program.
Must have knowledge in scheduling treatment times in conjunction with patient’s schedule of other services.
Must be able to maintain equipment, perform minor repairs, and report major repairs.
Must be willing to read books, articles, and attend educational conferences to improve existing OT programs, and to benefit knowledge as a therapist.
Must maintain active membership in professional organizations.
Must have knowledge in making recommendations to coordinate a total of , consistent program that meets the needs of individual patients.
Must be able to make written evaluation reports, periodic progress, and discharge notes and participates in oral reporting at team meetings.
Designs, fabricates, and fits adaptive equipment such as: slings, splints, wheelchairs, utensil holders, etc. for patients.
Must be able to direct activities and/or supervise SOTR and COTA students, assistants, volunteers.
Must be able to participate in educational training programs of nursing students, volunteers, etc.
Must be able to establish home programs when necessary; demonstrates and instructs patients and family in its execution.
Must be able to keep accurate and orderly permanent records on patient treatment.
Must have knowledge in requisition of supplies and equipment.
Computer knowledge necessary for effective utilization of hospital systems.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Demands:
Physically capable of performing the duties of an occupational therapist including walking, standing, sitting or bending, as required to accomplish the principal duties in a safe, reliable manner.
Lifting, carrying light to moderately heavy occupational therapy equipment.
Visual acuity required administering evaluations and providing treatment to patients.
Hand dexterity and skills to handle various tools and equipment.
Ability to lift/support patient of all weights.
Special Demands:
Willingness to work with a variety of physically disabled or mentally challenged individuals.

GENERAL SUMMARY
Implements the evaluation and treatment of medically disabled patients using established procedures. Provides education to patients and family to deal with present disabilities or prevent further disabilities. Provides consultation to health care personnel and public in matters of occupational therapy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluates patients’ physical and functional status as related to medical diagnosis.
Administers tests reflective of current standards of practice including sensory, manual muscle, range of motion, and other evaluation techniques.
Evidence of timely treatment planning based on objective findings. Establishes short- and long-term therapy goals, formulates treatment plans consistent with goals.
Utilizes critical thinking to determine priorities in treatment to address barriers.
Accurately completes charges for therapy services provided on day of service.
Charges appropriately based upon current reimbursement guidelines specified by carriers.
Regularly documents patient’s progress to goals. Provides updates to physician and other treatment members.
Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field through reading and attending related conferences and seminars.
Prepares and provides in-service presentation.
Participates in community activity and committees as requested by Leadership.
Assists with program development as requested by Leadership.
Mentors co-workers in area of clinical expertise.
Participates as Clinical Instructor with students as requested.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSURE
Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy.
Certification by American Occupational Therapy Certification Board as an Occupational Therapist, Registered.
Current Michigan registration as an Occupational Therapist.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and occupational therapy treatment and modalities. Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients and patients’ families when providing treatments and instructing same in use of therapeutic devices and methods as well as with other treatment team members when gathering and exchanging patient condition/progress information. Analytical skills necessary to evaluate patient’s physical and functional status, establish therapy goals, formulate treatment plans consistent with goals, and observe patients and document progress/condition. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 80% of work time when administering treatments, observing patients and maintaining records. Able to react quickly in sudden unplanned situations in order to prevent or minimize injuries to patients and/or staff. Able to walk and stand up for up to 50% of work time while administering treatments. Able to lift, push and pull weights with an effective force of approximately 40-60 pounds (with or without mechanical devices or other personnel) for up to 20% of work time when positioning and moving patients. Able to communicate effectively with patients, patients’ families and other health center personnel.
