I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients. Examples, but not limited to changes in skin condition, vital signs, and/or mental status.
2. Provides constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse or designee.
3. Participates in the development and maintenance of a safe environment. Works to utilize interventions to de-escalate patients and if unsuccessful participates in restraints in accordance with training and education as directed.
4. Assists patient with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, ambulating, meals and nourishment.
5. Assists in moving, lifting, positioning and transporting patients by utilizing proper safety techniques and body mechanics in all work-related activities.
6. Maintains patient safety by performing patient safety checks, utilizing fall prevention alternative devices/strategies as directed, and following the Restraint Policy standards when caring for a restrained patient.
7. Takes and records vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure and pulse oxymetry). Measures and records patients’ height and weight.
8. Performs EKG’s, performs Point of Care (POC) tests and bladder scanning according to hospital standards. Collects, labels and prepares specimens for transport to lab.
9. Phlebotomy in certain locations.
10. Performs other selected unit specific procedures such as battery changes for telemetry units, checking status of unit equipment, cleaning equipment between patients and proper storage of supplies.

12. Observes, measures, records oral food and fluid intake. Sets up full strength tube feeding solutions and refills tube feeding bags as directed. Empties and records output, as approved, from a variety of sources, e.g., Foley catheter, ostomy appliances and drainage systems. Performs ostomy care on established ostomate patients as directed.
13. Demonstrates sensitivity and responsiveness to patients’ needs by acting as a source of information and approaches all interactions with the intention of building positive rapport and relationships.
14. Provides respectful, culturally and age-appropriate communication with patients, staff, family, visitors and others.
15. Replenishes patient and unit supplies and equipment.
16. Requests assistance from identified resources when more direction is needed.

Job Title: Patient Care Technician I
Job Profile Summary:
Under the direction of the appropriate licensed clinician, the Patient Care Technician I performs a variety of patient care activities. Receives workplace education and training to assist members of the healthcare team in the care of patients.
I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients. Examples, but not limited to changes in skin condition, vital signs, and/or mental status.
2. Provides constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse or designee.
3. Participates in the development and maintenance of a safe environment. Works to utilize interventions to de-escalate patients and if unsuccessful participates in restraints in accordance with training and education as directed.
4. Assists patient with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, ambulating, meals and nourishment.
5. Assists in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients by utilizing proper safety techniques and body mechanics in all work-related activities.
6. Maintains patient safety by performing patient safety checks, utilizing fall prevention alternative devices/strategies as directed, and following the Restraint Policy standards when caring for a restrained patient.
7. Takes and records vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure and pulse oxymetry). Measures and records patients’ weights and heights.
8. Performs EKG’s, Point of Care (POC) tests and bladder scanning. Collects, labels and prepares specimens for transport to lab.
9. Performs other selected unit specific procedures, such as battery changes for telemetry units, checking status of unit equipment, cleaning equipment between patients and proper storage of supplies.
10. Assists RN/Licensed Independent Practitioner with treatments and procedures by preparing patient, obtaining equipment and supplies, helping to position patient, providing the patient with emotional support, and cleaning up equipment and supplies following the treatment and/or procedure.
11. Observes, measures, records oral food and fluid intake. Refills tube feeding bags as directed. Empties and records output, as approved, from a variety of sources, e.g., foley catheter, ostomy appliances and drainage systems. Performs ostomy care on established ostomate patients as directed.
12. Demonstrates sensitivity and responsiveness to patients’ needs by acting as a source of information and approaches all interactions with the intention of building positive rapport and relationships.
13. Provides respectful, culturally and age-appropriate communication with patients, staff, family, visitors and others.
14. Replenishes patient and unit supplies and equipment as needed.
15. Requests assistance from identified resources when more direction is needed.
16. Keeps current with hospital and unit changes by reading communication boards and/or books, bulletin boards, posted notices and reads and responds to UMMHC e mails on a regular basis.

III. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:
Position requires work indoors in a patient care environment.
Hand dexterity, hearing and vision ability to take direction from a patient or provider, adjust equipment, observe and describe patient observations. Must be able to lift, up to 50 pounds.
Work is of heavy demand, standing and walking most of the time with the possibility of pushing heavy equipment and bending frequently.

2. Obtains and verifies patient insurance coverage and follows guidelines established by insurers to ensure that pre-authorization, pre-certification, and physician referrals for treatment are obtained prior to patient visits. Follows up to correct discrepancies as required.
3. Obtains and verifies workman’s compensation and automobile coverage when required.
4. Schedules and/or arrives Radiology, Lab, and basic ancillary service appointments.
5. Arrives and completes Emergency Department and Labor & Delivery demographic and insurance collection.
6. Coordinates the provision of multiple services to patients.
7. Collects patient liabilities including deductibles, copays, coinsurances, self-pay payments, cosmetic procedure payments, and patient balances as appropriate, prior to or on the date of service.
8. Performs Surgical Day admissions.
9. Performs bed control, transfers, discharges, and admissions tasks.
10. Provides patient with standard information regarding their personal preparation for scheduled procedures and services.
11. Assesses patients’ financial needs and directs accordingly to financial counseling and refers to appropriate person or area.
12. Provides a variety of related clerical duties, such as retrieving medical and other records, faxing, collating, typing, transcribing, taking and relaying messages, transcribe paper orders when applicable, mailing packets, etc.
13. Maintains accurate and timely records, logs, files, and related information as required.
14. Completes online death certificate registry.
15. Receive and secure patient valuables.
16. Monitors and maintains Patient Access and Revenue Cycle Work queues to ensure accurate and timely billing.

Candidates must have daytime availability to attend required in-person training sessions and be available for on-site training 3 to 5 days per week, 8 hours per day, during the training period. Flexibility to participate in daytime training is required. Once training is complete, caregivers are required to work a minimum of three 8-hour shifts per month and must be available to work 2nd shift, 3pm - 11:30pm.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Follow aseptic technique and clean room procedures.
· Perform and document daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly cleaning of lab equipment.
· Transport samples throughout the lab and to labs outside of CMCF in-person or by utilizing PEVCO system.
· Check supply kits for accuracy and expiration prior to being needed for processing.
· Obtain additional supplies, as needed, for processing; document supplies provided on additional lot sheet.
· Pick-up and enter data from cell infusion records at a variety of locations across Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital campus.
QA/Regulatory
· Work within the cGMP and cGTP guidelines and adhere to all regulatory standards within the Cell Manipulation Core Facility.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education: High School diploma required; related Associates degree preferred.
Minimum Experience: Previous laboratory experience preferred.
License/Certification/Registration: Lab Assistant certificate preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Position Purpose:
The Radiology Technologist is responsible to review the Physician Order and reason for exam, position, and image of patients. What the Radiology Technologist will do:

Document procedure verification and procedural, using a computerized system, and determines need for and performs necessary re-imaging.
Collect all completed diagnostic PACS images and forwards to appropriate location(s) for interpretation and results reporting.

Overview
The Freed-Pastor laboratory at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is seeking an exceptionally motivated and experienced PhD-level scientist (Scientist II) to join Cancer Grand Challenges - Team ILLUMINE to investigate the Cancer Dark Proteome and drive the development of innovative cellular therapies for pancreatic cancer. This position is primarily a hands-on bench role focused on rigorous data generation and direct experimental execution. In addition to bench work, the ideal candidate will take ownership of essential laboratory operations and coordinate efforts across this multi-institutional team. The successful candidate will be integral to a multidisciplinary team focused on the discovery, preclinical evaluation, and advancement towards clinical trials of novel immunotherapies.

- Demonstrates effective leadership skills of delegation, organization, and coordination in managing the daily operations of departments within the incumbent’s area responsibility.
- Develops, recommends, monitors and manages operating budgets to optimize financial performance.
- Develops and utilizes performance metrics to continually improve quality and operating efficiency.
- Ensures adequate skills training and development among staff. Provides and encourages effective coaching.
Clinical Leadership Responsibilities:
- Conceptualizes, designs, demonstrates, documents in formulating policy and instituting practice models that promote medication safety in all aspects of the medication management process.
- Provides leadership and direction to the pharmacist staff in such a way that all professional activities performed are consistent with hospital, and departmental mission, objectives, and policies.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates treatment guidelines that address cost-effective and appropriate drug therapy.
- Coordinates the development of criteria for safe and effective medication use as well as monitor the compliance with established criteria and other quality improvement programs such as the Medication Use Committee of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee (P & T).
- Implements clinical trending reports and other quality assurance activities as indicated to ensure appropriate and safe drug utilization; Organizes, design, and conduct drug utilization evaluations.
Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:
Required:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with a B.S. in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. Degree.
- Pharmacist Massachusetts licensure.
Preferred:
Master’s degree in business administration or other management degree.
Experience/Skills:
Required:
- Strong understanding of systems, technology and IV room processes.
- Strong understanding of state and federal regulatory requirements.
- Excellent customer service and communications skills with the ability to effectively interact and problem solve with managers of other departments.
- Substantial knowledge in project management, performance improvement, risk.
- Management principles, patient safety and planning.
- In depth knowledge of pharmacy distribution systems, automated dispensing, CPOE, I.V. compounders, packagers, bar code applications, supply chain solutions.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, especially related to health care colleagues.
- Skilled at building relationships.
- Highly energetic, motivated, and resourceful with an extremely positive attitude.
- Must have a passion for continually improving processes.
- Proficient with office systems and computers, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Preferred:
- Two to five years of experience in hospital pharmacy in a supervisory/management role.
