Under the direction of the appropriate licensed clinician, and in keeping with unit specific standards, provides patient care to meet the personal needs and comfort of patients; and assists members of the healthcare team.As an integral member of the patient care team, serves both internal and external customers including patients, nurses, physicians and other colleagues who support the delivery of care and services.
The Patient Care Tech III (PCT III) brings an additional skill set to the table. PCTs that are performing unit secretary duties, telemetry monitoring, remote video monitoring, or are working in the Emergency Department, ICU, Dialysis, Spine Procedure Room, Endoscopy, Neurointerventional Radiology, Angiography, and Radiology Short Stay, and Harrington Telemetry Certified & Step-Down Unit are eligible for this level.
I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients. Examples, but not limited to changes in skin condition, vital signs, and/or mental status.
2. Provides constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse or designee.
3. Participates in the development and maintenance of a safe environment. Works to utilize interventions to de-escalate patients and if unsuccessful participates in restraints in accordance with training and education as directed.
4. Assists patient with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, ambulating, meals and nourishment.
5. Assists in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients by utilizing proper safety techniques and body mechanics in all work-related activities.
6. Maintains patient safety by performing patient safety checks, utilizing fall prevention alternative devices/strategies as directed, and following the Restraint Policy standards when caring for a restrained patient.
7. Takes and records vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure and pulse oxymetry). Measures and records patients’ height and weight.
8. Performs EKG’s, performs Point of Care (POC) tests and bladder scanning according to hospital standards. Collects, labels, and prepares specimens for transport to lab.
9. Phlebotomy in certain locations.
10. Demonstrates sensitivity and responsiveness to patients’ needs by acting as a source of information and approaches all interactions with the intention of building positive rapport and relationships.
11. Performs other selected unit specific procedures such as battery changes for telemetry units, checking status of unit equipment, cleaning equipment between patients and proper storage of supplies.
12. Assists RN/Licensed Independent Practitioner with treatments and procedures by preparing patient; obtaining and setting up equipment and supplies, such as intravenous and hemodynamic lines, and utilize sterile technique when indicated. Help in positioning the patient and providing the patient with emotional support. Clean up equipment and supplies following the treatment and/or procedure.
13. Observes, measures, records oral food and fluid intake. Sets up full strength tube feeding solutions and refills tube feeding bags as directed. Empties and records output, as approved, from a variety of sources, e.g., Foley catheter, ostomy appliances and drainage systems. Performs ostomy care on established ostomate patients as directed.
14. Answers telephone using appropriate telephone etiquette. Takes and relays messages. Utilizes intra-department communication systems, such as pagers and intercom.
15. Replenishes patient and unit supplies and equipment.
16. Keeps current with hospital and unit changes by reading communication boards and/or books, bulletin boards, posted notices and reads and responds to UMMHC e mails on a regular basis.
The PCT III must fit into one of these specialties:
Unit Secretary
Functions as unit secretary assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharge procedures at least 5 shifts (40 hours) every 6 months. Has administrative responsibilities including, but not limited to, maintaining logs, organizing patient care charts for admission/discharge/transfer and maintenance of medical records. Enters data or retrieves medical information from the electronic medical record systems.
Remote Video Monitoring
Continuously observes multiple patients utilizing the remote video monitoring system.
Emergency Department, Step Down Unit, ICU, Dialysis, Spine Procedure Room, Endoscopy, Neurointerventional Radiology, Angiography, and Radiology Short Stay.
Telemetry Certified & Step-Down Unit - Harrington
PCT IIIs are cross trained in phlebotomy and telemetry competencies, as well as the unit clerk position. PCT IIIs will also be assigned to areas of higher acuity, such as the Step-Down Unit.

4. Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.
5. Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients, and visitors.
6. Maintains, regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
7. Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.

II. Position Qualifications:

1. Minimum of a high school education or GED.
2. Current Basic Life Support.
Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. Demonstrated competency attainment in the PCT II level or 1 year of acute care/hospital experience or 1 year of EMT Paramedic experience.
2. Ability to read, write and communicate in English in a clear and concise manner.
3. Medical Terminology.
4. Computer skills.
5. Strong interpersonal skills to gather information from individuals, build relationships that support collaborative work within the department and across the organization and provide exceptional service to patients.
6. Must have proven problem-solving abilities for routine situations and requests assistance from identified resources when more direction is needed.
7. Must be able to remain calm when under stress or in emergency situations.
Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
III. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:
Position requires work indoors in a patient care environment.
Hand dexterity, hearing and vision ability to take direction from a patient or provider, adjust equipment, observe and describe patient observations. Must be able to lift, up to 50 pounds. Work is of heavy demand, standing and walking most of the time with the possibility of pushing heavy equipment and bending frequently.

Evaluates, plans and performs treatments to alleviate physical dysfunction using manual, functional and physical agent modality techniques. Participates in departmental activities to assure smooth operations and facilitate program enhancement.I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Administers therapy evaluations and develops treatment plan for physically, developmentally and/or functionally disabled patient populations, including infants and children, adolescents, adults, geriatrics and frail elderly, inpatient and outpatient as assigned.
2. Analyzes and interprets data and assesses individually current functional ability. Researches specific problems as required and makes a differential diagnosis when appropriate. Consults with physician regarding any contradictions or alternative forms of therapy. Assesses patient's progress, as related to their rehabilitation potential.
3. Provides individualized treatment plans designed to prevent, restore, remediate or compensate for movement dysfunction including therapeutic exercises, progressive ROM, neuromuscular education and strengthening, manual therapy, cardiopulmonary conditioning, wound care, application of physical agent modalities, and functional mobility training. Evaluates need for bracing, supportive and positional equipment.
4. Educates patient, family and other caregivers in therapy program and goals. Participates in patient care meetings, collaborates with team members, assists with discharge planning. Documents care provided in medical record and completes therapy billing.
5. Completes departmental statistics. Assists in maintenance of orderly, safe and efficient working environment. Assists with inventory and purchasing as assigned.
6. Delegates caseload to therapist assistants, overseeing quality of care and supervising performance. Collaborates with team members to assure patient coverage and equitable work distribution.
7. Participates in department quality improvement/assurance activities and program development initiatives.
8. Supervises students according to Practice Standards.

II. Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy from accredited PT school or equivalent.
2. Current license to practice physical therapy in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. New graduates and out of state licensed physical therapists are
expected to obtain Massachusetts license within 6 months of hire date. Will need to work under the direct clinical supervision by a licensed physical therapist and have all notes co-signed until license has been obtained.
3. Successful completion of National Physical Therapy Board Examination.

Major Responsibilities:

- Utilizes computers to access daily schedule of patients and sites of service and provides patients with appointment schedules and appointment information as necessary. References information on patient location, admissions and discharges, patient phone numbers and visitor instructions.
- Manages a high volume of telephone calls concerning patients, visitors, vendors and staff. Helps arrange taxi or other basic transportation. Monitors visitor activities in the lobby area and notifies Security of potential problems. Arranges for escorts for patients and visitors to assigned areas.

Position Purpose:
The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer II is responsible to review the Physician Order and reason for exam and prepare the patient for the exam/procedure. The Sonographer performs a variety of specialized medical ultrasound examinations/procedures to obtain high quality images for diagnostic interpretation and may also assist the physician with US-guided procedures. Sonographers work closely with the Ultrasound leadership and the Radiologists. The Sonographer performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with integrity and initiative.
What the Diagnostic Medical Sonographer will need:
Completion of an accredited Medical Sonography program
Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) with a minimum of one certification OR Registry-eligible with certification within one year of date of hire
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Must have in-depth knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy
Must have the ability to produce and evaluate quality images
One year as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer preferred
What the Diagnostic Medical Sonographer will do:
Explain ultrasound procedures to patients in order to allay apprehensions and elicit cooperation using care, courtesy, tact, and empathy.
Review patients' charts and results from previous ultrasound examinations or other diagnostic studies, records patients' personal and medical information.
Perform diagnostic procedures by adjusting, manipulating and controlling a variety of complex ultrasound equipment and accessories.
Consult with the radiologist and experienced associates to determine the need for additional images for comprehensive interpretation.
Schedule examinations and perform related clerical duties such as answering telephones and locating prior imaging and reports.
Assist in the performance of aspiration, biopsy or operating room procedures maintaining sterilization, isolation and infection and infection control techniques to prevent contamination.
Maintain documentation of infection control procedures and activities. Abide by Infection Control policy relating to Intracavitary probe disinfection, to include all accurate documentation within the department at each location worked.
Take initiative to improve overall staff education via in-services, article distributions with peers, student’s one-on-one training sessions, and assisting with new employee Orientation/Training as assigned.
Adapt and cooperate with schedule changes and location changes. Rotate shifts, weekends, and holidays as deemed appropriate by management, including assignments to other campuses.

In this role, you will oversee the medical assisting staff and other specified areas of the office in collaboration with office Nursing Leadership and the Practice Manager. This includes accountability for efficient patient/work flow, customer satisfaction, staff satisfaction, productivity and achievement of operational goals as defined by practice leadership.
What You'll Do:
- Supervise day-to-day operations of assigned areas.
- Assists with recruitment, hiring, orientation, training and coaching of MA staff.
- Maintains scheduling, time and attendance for the MA staff.
- Evaluates the performance of MA staff, recommends promotions and disciplinary action.
- Fills in as Medical Assistant when needed.
- Assist providers with exams, procedures, testing, and specimen collection.
- Administer medications and perform diagnostic testing as directed.

Clinical Trials Operations
Assistant Clinical Research Managers (ACRM) will be responsible for assisting the Clinical Research Manager with the oversight of their disease group’s clinical trial portfolio and all related regulatory and compliance requirements.
The ACRM will assist the CRM will all aspects of study start up, active and close out activities for the group’s portfolio. They will be responsible for the required tracking of all protocol development, submission, review and approval milestones.
The ACRM will assist with the oversight of subject enrollment, protocol treatment and follow-up care processes for protocol patients.

Regulatory & Compliance

Regularly reports data compliance status to key stakeholders; i.e. DFCI PI, study Sponsor, DFCI CTO. Helps to implement corrective action to maintain data compliance when necessary.

Staff Training & Development
Will assist the CRM with the recruitment and oversight of coordinator staff as well as ensures that staff have completed mandatory training in a timely manner.
Will help implement program specific on-boarding and orientation process and may participate in annual performance evaluations and competency assessments of research staff as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Must be able to perform day-to-day responsibilities independently with minimal supervision from managers.
Has the ability to identify regulatory scenarios that require consultation.
Has a good understanding of clinical trials start-up, active and close out phases.
Has a good understanding of clinical research, local policy and federal regulation.

Under moderate supervision, will perform the following:
1. Provide administrative support for Directors, department managers, clinicians, and/or faculty.
2. Perform administrative duties that may include, but not limited to, answering phones, maintaining office supplies, incoming and outgoing mail management, managing resource calendars, and submitting work orders for maintenance issues.
3. Manage meeting planning and schedules for individuals and teams within assigned department group.
4. May liaise between patient and clinical staff to provide scheduling support.
5. Draft communications for members of the department or individuals that the position is supporting for review.
6. May be responsible for data entry.
7. Provide email and phone communication with internal and external teams or collaborators.
8. May serve as onsite representative for external groups, visitors, or collaborators.
9. Prepare general correspondence, letters of recommendation, Excel spreadsheets, presentation preparation and editing.
10. Financial responsibilities including P-Card charge review and reconciliation, expense report processing, vendor payments, invoice creation or general office supply ordering.
11. Coordinate travel arrangements as required/needed by department staff.
12. Expected to identify and escalate areas of need regarding workflows to supervisors.
13. May participate in training and onboarding new staff.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Partners with leadership on high-priority institutional efforts, including the BILH collaboration, MGB separation, and new cancer hospital, to assess readiness impacts, identify adoption risks, and coordinate scaled implementation approaches across affected departments and teams.
- Leads adoption and implementation strategy for major enterprise initiatives, translating strategic objectives into structured readiness, stakeholder engagement, communications, training, and sustainment plans that support successful operational execution with constant attention to information security.
- Works closely with the Epic change management teams at Dana-Farber and BILH to support enterprise readiness planning, stakeholder alignment, workflow adoption, and implementation support for disease center waves and Epic-to-Epic conversion. Collaborate with Workday Digital Adoption, Enablement, and Operations to align approaches, tools, and lessons learned across platforms as they evolve.
- Designs and facilitates stakeholder analyses, readiness assessments, impact assessments, workshops, sponsor alignment sessions, and other structured activities to clarify change implications, build leadership ownership, and support successful adoption at all levels of the organization. Leads the Change Ambassador Council, comprised of selected DFCI and BILH resources, to drive successful change across both organizations.
- Develops and maintains adoption methodologies, templates, toolkits, communication assets, training support materials, and implementation frameworks that strengthen institutional capability and promote consistent approaches to change across initiatives. Helps build and support a centralized digital adoption function in Information Services to proactively spearhead constant growth and change in technology impacting digital, clinical, and business functions.
- Establishes adoption metrics, dashboards, and feedback mechanisms to evaluate implementation progress, measure behavior and process adoption, identify barriers, and recommend corrective actions or sustainment strategies based on data and stakeholder input.
- Serves as a strategic advisor to project leaders, operational leaders, and executive stakeholders by providing consultation, coaching, and recommendations related to adoption planning, risk mitigation, resource needs, governance, and implementation sequencing.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Deep knowledge of organizational adoption, change management, implementation planning, and operational readiness principles in complex, matrixed environments, with the ability to assess organizational impacts, identify adoption barriers, define mitigation strategies, and align communications, training, sponsorship, and sustainment activities to implementation goals.

Working under the direction of the Breast Imaging Manager and Breast Imaging Clinical Director, the Breast Imaging technologist is responsible for performing all technical procedures within breast imaging as described in the DFCI Imaging Policy Manual. MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must be a graduate of an accredited imaging technology program (e.g., Radiography, Nuclear Medicine)
· One to two years hospital-based experience preferred
· Current Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist License/Radiography category
· Current Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist License/Mammography category, or must obtain within 1 year of hire
· Current ARRT Radiography (RT-R) registration
· Current ARRT Mammography (RT-M) registration or must obtain within 1 year of hire
· Current BLS certification or must obtain an active BLS certification within 90-days of hire
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Adheres to established departmental policies and procedures; fosters communication and collaboration among the clinical, technical and support staff; ensures that business and patient information is properly handled according to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) guidelines.
2. Maintains and ensures patient, staff and environmental safety; maintains proper infection control; maintains orderliness and cleanliness in the workplace and self; demonstrates an understanding of all radiation safety issues (e.g., Image Gently, Image Wisely, etc.) and follow radiation safety procedures to ensure patient safety.
3. Ensures that all appropriate regulatory, accreditation, and institutional requirements are met, and participates in departmental and institutional quality assurance/quality improvement (QA/QI) programs.
4. Communicates relevant information in a compassionate and professional manner to patients undergoing procedures, ensures that all patients have a thorough understanding of the procedures to be performed, assist with various operational duties such as monitoring patient flow while utilizing the scheduling and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
5. Under the direction of the Breast Imaging Manager/Supervisor, the Breast Imaging Technologist performs all technical procedures within their respective modality obtaining high quality images; ensures that all imaging systems operate at levels of accepted standards and are properly maintained, and if necessary takes corrective action; performs required quality control on all imaging equipment and devices; manages imaging datasets (e.g., transfer, archive, and retrieval); maintains all necessary records and reports in a correct, timely, and efficient manner.
