Administrative:
• Assists principal investigator with protocol development.
• Assists principal investigator as appropriate with the Institute’s protocol review process.
• Assists the principal investigator in developing the protocol budget.
• Collaborates with the Dana-Farber Harvard Cancer Center DFHCC quality assurance of clinical trials office in developing protocol specific materials.
• Serves as research coordinator for National Cancer Institute, pharmaceutical-sponsored, and National Cooperative Group protocols.
Research:
• Assists with recruitment and registration of patients to clinical trials.
• Coordinates scheduling of patient’s laboratory and radiographic assessments, admissions and clinic visits.
• Monitors test results as appropriate.
• Coordinates protocol data management as necessary.
• Collaborates with staff within the Institute and with outside organizations in the completion of
clinical research trials.
Clinical:
• Coordinates study enrollment, protocol treatment, and completion of study requirements for patients participating in clinical trials.
• Works collaboratively and functions as an effective member of the health care team.
• Collaborates with Care Coordination for all patient care referrals.
• Collaborates with primary nurse in assuring that patient care needs are met.
• Provides protocol education to patients and families; adapts interactions based on age-specific needs of the patient.
• Collects and prepares required specimens for analysis and monitors test results, as appropriate.
• Documents in charts as appropriate and communicates observations and findings to protocol investigator and attending physicians.
• Provides protocol in-service training and serves as a resource to the health care team.
• Monitors the environment of care with attention to patient safety, and assures compliance with regulatory agency standards.
• Maintains clinical practice that is evidence-based and consistent with nursing policies, procedures, licensure/registration requirements, and professional scope and standards.
• Participates in QA/QI projects for the clinical program and the Division of Nursing and Patient Care Services.
• Adheres to the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements (ANA, 2001) in all aspects of professional practice.
• Fosters an environment that is sensitive to the needs of diverse populations, including but not limited to culture, ethnicity, gender, and age.
• Administers medications as necessary.
• Maintains BLS certification.
Professional Development:
• Identifies areas for professional growth.
• Formulates professional goals, objectives and methods for accomplishing these.
• Pursues active membership of local and national professional organizations.
• Supports research activities within the Division of Nursing and Patient Care Services.
• Participates in Division of Nursing / Institute committees.
• Meets all annual evaluation requirements and competencies within the established time period.
• Collaborates in preparing professional reports, articles, and presentations for colleagues and the public.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
Education: Associate Degree, Nursing. Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing strongly preferred. If Associate Degree in Nursing, must complete BSN degree within 4 years. Experience: Completion of the Oncology Nurse Residency Program (ONRP) or 1 year of recent experience as a Registered Nurse. Ambulatory and/or oncology experience preferred.
License/Certification/Registration Required:
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, or State of New Hampshire as appropriate required. AHA BLS required (AHA ACLS accepted as minimum requirement). Professional nursing certification preferred (OCN, BMTCN, CPHON, AOCNP, CRNI, RN-BC).

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Scheduling Supervisor and working under the guidance of the Lead Clinic Coordinator, this mission critical position is responsible for the following:
Appointment Scheduling:
• Accurately schedules complex appointment sets across disciplines for oncology patients in accordance with scheduling guidelines
• Monitors scheduling reports to ensure accuracy in patient scheduling and to ensure optimization of resource utilization
• Maintains confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI)
• Possesses strategic thinking skills, the ability to learn rapidly, multi-task, and adapt quickly to an ever-changing environment.
Patient Experience:
• Delivers outstanding customer service to internal and external customers
• Timely, accurately and curiously responds to the needs of internal and external customers
• Ability to deescalate patient grievances, and maintain customer service standards, and involve floor leadership as necessary
Communication and Collaboration:
• Demonstrates ability to effectively communicate across leadership levels and with varying audiences
• Synthesizes and communicates complex information in patient friendly terms
• Obtains detailed scheduling information face-to-face, by telephone, or electronically while performing check-in and check-out functions – i.e. triaging phone calls, double identifying patients, printing appropriate paperwork, coordinating complex schedules; acquiring and entering verbal orders
• Works effectively as a member of the team and across functional teams
• Fosters a sense of shared responsibility among the team
Emergency Response:
• Recognizes emergencies and appropriately responds using standard operating procedures
Regulatory Compliance and Quality Improvement:
• Compliance with DFCI policies and procedures
• Understanding their role and responsibility in obtaining successful Joint Commission accreditation
• HIPPA regulation compliance
• Completion of assigned AEU and Health Stream competencies
• Executes registration related processes including: Partners Patient Gateway Enrollment, MASS HiWay, Medicare Secondary Patient Questionnaire (MSPQ), Massachusetts Medical Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment (MOLST), and Release of Patient Information.
• Actively participates and provides constructive feedback on quality improvement projects
Information Technology:
• Maintains a level of competency in all systems including: Epic, Real Time Locating System (RTLS), Outlook
• Actively engaged in system upgrades and effected operational changes
• Distribution, maintenance, after-use cleaning, and technical troubleshooting issues of patient-use iPads

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Provides guidance and consultation to Medical Laboratory Technicians in the interpretation of complex testing or unusual findings.

The role of the Patient Access Scheduling Agent is the front door for patients to secure access to the right care, at the right time, with the right provider. The Patient Access Scheduling agent performs a variety of complex scheduling activities that ensures patients get access to the care they need by providing exceptional patient service.I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Handles incoming phone calls from patients, families and referring providers to schedule patient appointments. Scheduling scope includes multiple providers across multiple clinics/departments, practices across multiple campuses.
2. Makes outbound phone calls to patients to schedule appointments with specialists and subspecialists.
3. As part of the appointment scheduling process, secure the information needed to facilitate the financial aspects of medical care such as patient demographics (name, date of birth, etc.), insurance information, and account guarantor. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- In collaboration with disease center and clinic scheduling teams, partners with care team, patient, and other key stakeholders to manage, schedule, follow up on, and facilitate coordination of all oncology and non-oncology appointments, internally and externally throughout the continuation of care.
- Develops and maintains strong professional relationships and communication with DFCI and BWH key stakeholders including disease center teams, International Patient Center, clinicians, interpreter/ambassadors, referral sources, staff, patients, and families to continually improve operations, maintain quality, and ensure satisfaction.
- Monitor status of referral request and follow-up as necessary to ensure patient receives service on timely basis.
- Coordinates procedures, specialty appointments and other requests with external facilities, including but not limited to treatments, labs, echo, biopsies, line/port placements and removal, radiology, and specialty appointments (e.g., endocrinology, cardiology, dermatology, etc.).
- Arranges telehealth visits per hospital and state/country guidelines for eligible patients, ensuring appropriate communication between internal and external providers, admins, patient/patient representatives, and other key stakeholders.
- Partners with finance and other team members, performs tasks, and otherwise supports processes to ensure appropriate financial clearance is obtained for all appointments.
- Performs past-pending reconciliations and assists department with emergency re-scheduling due to clinic closures or other events.
- Supports management of discharge process including discharge planning, monitoring inpatient cases, and providing necessary coordination with internal care teams, interpreter/ambassador, IPC, scheduling teams, and external stakeholders.
- Delivers concierge-level attention for each patient.
- Serves as on-call, after-hours contact to provide international patients assistance with the coordination of medical care outside of regular business hours as needed.
- Responsible for adherence to standard operating procedures, compliance requirements and meeting defined service levels/key performance indicators related to patient care.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and executes the strategy, operating model, and multi-year roadmap for Digital Consulting Services, ensuring alignment with Dana-Farber priorities, Information Services goals, and evolving organizational needs. Establishes objectives, deliverables, timelines, and success measures for the function.
- Leads multiple teams responsible for collaboration and productivity platforms and digital innovation services, overseeing the evaluation, selection, implementation, optimization, and lifecycle management of digital solutions that improve communication, efficiency, workflow performance, and user experience.
- Partners with clinical, research, administrative, and operational leaders to understand business challenges, identify opportunities, and translate needs into actionable initiatives, service offerings, and technology recommendations. Oversees intake, prioritization, and demand management processes to focus resources on the highest-value work.
- Directs cross-functional programs and medium- to high-complexity initiatives involving multiple stakeholders, technologies, and dependencies. Ensures effective use of project, product, and service management methodologies; monitors scope, schedule, risks, issues, and outcomes; and communicates progress through reporting and executive updates.
- Establishes governance and operational standards for supported platforms and services, including administration, service levels, evergreen planning, adoption strategies, user support coordination, training alignment, usage analytics, and continuous improvement. Evaluates performance and identifies opportunities to optimize value, standardization, and sustainability.
- Ensures solutions and recommendations align with Institute requirements for cybersecurity, data protection, infrastructure, compliance, and technology policy. Collaborates closely with peer Information Services teams and enterprise partners to avoid duplication, address integration needs, and maintain a secure and supportable digital ecosystem.
- Oversees vendor and external partner relationships related to digital tools, consulting services, and innovation initiatives, including product evaluation, service oversight, contract support, and budget stewardship for one or more cost centers. Maintains awareness of industry trends and emerging technologies to inform strategic planning and responsible innovation.
- Supervises staff. Hires, develops, and manages staff to achieve organizational goals. Sets clear expectations, delivers feedback, and monitors performance for quality, efficiency, and compliance with policies and procedures. Under the direction of the appropriate licensed clinician, the Patient Care Technician I performs a variety of patient care activities. Receives workplace education and training to assist members of the healthcare team in the care of patients.I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients. Examples, but not limited to changes in skin condition, vital signs, and/or mental status.
2. Provides constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse or designee.
3. Participates in the development and maintenance of a safe environment. Works to utilize interventions to de-escalate patients and if unsuccessful participates in restraints in accordance with training and education as directed.
4. Assists patient with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, ambulating, meals and nourishment.
5. Assists in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients by utilizing proper safety techniques and body mechanics in all work-related activities.
6. Maintains patient safety by performing patient safety checks, utilizing fall prevention alternative devices/strategies as directed, and following the Restraint Policy standards when caring for a restrained patient.
7. Takes and records vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure and pulse oxymetry). Measures and records patients’ weights and heights.

II. Position Qualifications:

1. Minimum of a high school education or GED.
2. Current Basic Life Support.
Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. Demonstrated competency attainment in the Patient Care Technician I level, work a minimum of 800 hours and at least 6 months as a PCA I.
2. Prior inpatient/outpatient care experience or clinical care training.
3. Ability to read, write and communicate in English in a clear and concise manner.
4. Medical Terminology.
5. Computer skills.
6. Strong interpersonal skills to gather information from individuals, build relationships that support collaborative work within the department and across the organization and provide exceptional service to patients.
7. Must have proven problem-solving abilities for routine situations.
8. Must be able to remain calm when under stress or in emergency situations.
Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
III. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:
Position requires work indoors in a patient care environment.
Hand dexterity, hearing and vision ability to take direction from a patient or provider, adjust equipment, observe and describe patient observations. Must be able to lift, up to 50 pounds. Work is of heavy demand, standing and walking most of the time with the possibility of pushing heavy equipment and bending frequently.
