Education
Required - High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred - Trade school or company school
Work Experience
Required - 2 years of experience in Commercial, Industrial or Hospital Maintenance or completion of the Ochsner Apprenticeship program
Preferred - Healthcare experience
Certifications
Required - Valid driver’s license in the state of residence
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Experience with all hand and power tools
- Must be familiar with a wide range of skilled crafts including, but not limited to, plumbing, electrical, HVAC-R and carpentry.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a can-do attitude.
- Must be mechanically inclined with the ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision.
- Working knowledge of state, parish, and building codes, as well as JCAHO standards.
- Self-directed with the ability handle the mental and physical stress/pressure to complete all jobs, including emergencies.
- Must be able to work indoors, outdoors, and in restricted spaces for extended periods of time.
- Basic knowledge of reading, writing and understanding mechanical and electrical symbolisms to properly interpret blueprints, schematics specifications and mechanical drawings.
- Must be able to properly handle power and hand tools required to perform job duties effectively.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to apply effective judgment when performing job duties.
- Must be able to work on-call for emergencies and extended hours.
Job Duties
- Performs general inspections, troubleshooting and repairs of minor electrical, mechanical, and plumbing items within the hospital or clinic setting. Examples of works may include but not limited to: unclogging plumbing lines, replacing light bulbs, replacing ceiling tile, repair leaking faucets, and painting touch-up.
- Follows up on completed assignments ensuring equipment is working appropriately.
- Responds to and repairs specialty systems, such as, and not limited to, the nurse call system, fire alarm system, television system, medical gas system, and the ceiling system.
- Completes preventive maintenance inspections in accordance to scheduled checkpoints and maintains documentation appropriately.
- Assists with any maintenance on associated equipment within assigned area(s)
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Assists other Hospital and Clinic departments with daily maintenance and support services as needed Will assist with repairs and upkeep of facilities structures and building systems
- In the event of severe weather emergencies or disaster, personnel will be assigned a work area and remain onsite throughout the duration of the severe weather or disaster.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. NOTE: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.
Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue, but exposure or potential for exposure may occur.
The incumbent works with patients who have known or suspected communicable diseases and may enter isolation rooms. The incumbent has an occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases.

Job Duties
- Operates monitoring and recording devices under physician direction to obtain necessary medical data and ensure patient safety
- Orders equipment in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
- Assists with plan of care as delegated by staff nurse within scope of practice.
- Maintains a clean and safe environment in the patient care area.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.

Trauma/Acute Care Surgeon – Ochsner Main Campus, Ochsner Health
Ochsner Main campus has 767 beds and is the leading provider of tertiary and quaternary health care services in the Gulf South. The Surgical ICU has 34 beds and is one of six critical care units in the hospital. Ochsner has an independent Cardiothoracic fellowship that finishes one trainee per year. Ochsner has an independent surgical residency that finishes seven chiefs and trains fellows in Colorectal, Vascular, and Transplant Surgery. Ochsner provides the final two years of clinical training for medical students from the University of Queensland (Australia). Schedule:
3 X 12-hr shifts per week
7am - 7pm
Education
Required - High school diploma or equivalent
Work Experience
Preferred - 3 months of “personal care” experience in a home or clinical setting (examples include: providing sitter-type services in the home either through an agency or a private arrangement, performing personal care in a nursing home, skilled nursing setting or hospital setting; experience with bathing, oral care and personal hygiene)
Certifications
Required - Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association to be obtained within 60 days from hire
Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) to be obtained within 60 days from hire
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability).
Job Duties
- Supports the plan of care as delegated by staff nurse within scope of skills verification.
- Maintains a clean and safe environment in the patient care area.
- Provides care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned areas.
- Communicates patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and other staff members, including multi-disciplinary teams.
- Completes documentation of patient related tasks.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
