An Emergency department (ED) that provides 24-hour emergency care to patients who need urgent medical attention for severe injuries or illness.
Description:
- The Nursing Assistant II (Emergency Department Technician) functions within the multidisciplinary team that cares for the ED patient under the direction and supervision of the ED Registered Nurse.
- Demonstrates excellent communication and coordination of patient care/department flow.
- Working knowledge of appropriate computer functions and systems for assigned duties.

About the Perioperative RN Training Program
This class is a paid educational program for registered nurses who have an interest in a career path in Surgical Services. The Perioperative Nursing Course is a structured six-month educational program offering training into the challenging specialty of Operating Room nursing. This program combines a standardized, evidence-based online curriculum and textbook readings with hands-on skills labs and a clinical practicum. Working side-by-side with an Operating Room staff nurse preceptor, you will share in the challenges and rewards that occur at our facility, while enjoying personal growth and skills advancement. Peer support, nurturing and continuous feedback will be provided throughout the experience. Participation in the training program requires you to work full time 8-hour days.
After successful completion of the program, you will be offered a full-time position. Please note all the positions available for this program are full time. Usually most positions are on first shift; however, other shifts may be what is available and will be filled according to area of greatest need in the department. Surgical Nurses in the OR have a weekend and holiday rotation and are required to take call.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLYING:
Open to both external and internal Registered Nurses.
Experienced and new grads are welcome to apply.
Candidates must demonstrate a genuine desire to enter the surgical nursing field and must complete at least a 4 hour shadowing experience in surgery prior to acceptance into the program.
External candidates who are ASN prepared must be willing to enroll in a BSN program within a year and complete within 5 years. (Internal candidates under a current BSN commitment must continue his or her degree path).
Job Description:
Under the supervision of a clinical nurse manager, this position will provide nursing care to patients, and:
Conducts systematic, continuous and comprehensive assessments of patient health status from admission or encounter to discharge across the care continuum to ensure patient safety, collaborating with the healthcare team, patient and family; care addresses all aspects of the individual and family, including age, gender, spiritual, cultural, physical, psychosocial and patient preferences and proactively uses safety surveillance to prevent adverse outcomes
Independently administers medications per licensure authority, assesses and reassesses the effects of these medications, and documents administration in a timely manner per policies, procedures and regulatory requirements; consistently adheres to patient safety guidelines regarding all aspects of medication administration
In collaboration with patient and family, plans care using current scientific knowledge, theory, and care standards within the nursing interventions and outcomes framework and national patient safety goals; constructs individualized, age-specific plans for optimal patient and family outcomes, as appropriate to the practice setting; incorporates data from the multi-disciplinary care team into the plan of care to assure continuity and appropriate patient teaching
In collaboration with patient and family, identifies and prioritizes patient problems based on subjective and objective assessment data, patient safety considerations, patient and family goals and preferences, and nursing interventions and the medical plan of care
Implements nursing care interventions to meet patient and family center health care needs. Demonstrates competent skills, appropriate clinical judgments and chain of command to promote patient safety and reach planned care goals and outcomes
Competently and consistently assesses, conducts and evaluates the outcomes of patient and family teaching, from admission, or episode of care, to discharge, teaching reflects sensitivity to age, learning needs and cultural background
Evaluates care by performing regular and systematic reviews of patient /family responses to interventions; revises the multi-disciplinary plan of care in collaboration with other care Team members to promote desired outcomes; recognizes care variances and takes steps to prevent or intervene with potential or real adverse events to promote safe care
Serves as an advocate for the patient and family, demonstrates respect for their rights, responsibilities, and sensitivity to their preferences; prepares the patient and family for discharge; obtains feedback to promote positive patient satisfaction outcomes
Works collaboratively, with appropriate monitoring and delegation, with unlicensed assistive healthcare providers, per regulatory and legal requirements, assuring safe patient care delivery
This position also:

May act in the role of relief charge nurse when the unit need arises

About the Perioperative RN Training Program
This class is a paid educational program for registered nurses who have an interest in a career path in Surgical Services. The Perioperative Nursing Course is a structured six-month educational program offering training into the challenging specialty of Operating Room nursing. This program combines a standardized, evidence-based online curriculum and textbook readings with hands-on skills labs and a clinical practicum. Working side-by-side with an Operating Room staff nurse preceptor, you will share in the challenges and rewards that occur at our facility, while enjoying personal growth and skills advancement. Peer support, nurturing and continuous feedback will be provided throughout the experience. Participation in the training program requires you to work full time 8-hour days.
After successful completion of the program, you will be offered a full-time position. Please note all the positions available for this program are full time. Usually most positions are on first shift; however, other shifts may be what is available and will be filled according to area of greatest need in the department. Surgical Nurses in the OR have a weekend and holiday rotation and are required to take call.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLYING:
Open to both external and internal Registered Nurses.
Experienced and new grads are welcome to apply.
Candidates must demonstrate a genuine desire to enter the surgical nursing field and must complete at least a 4 hour shadowing experience in surgery prior to acceptance into the program.
External candidates who are ASN prepared must be willing to enroll in a BSN program within a year and complete within 5 years. (Internal candidates under a current BSN commitment must continue his or her degree path).

The Utilization Review RN performs activities which support the Utilization Management functions. • During the concurrent review process, evaluates the medical record to identify any process delay impacting the timeliness of patient care in a collaborative effort to ensure that the appropriate resources are utilized (i.e. physical therapy, cardiac rehabilitation, or nutritional service)
• Supports the utilization review program by maintaining effective and efficient processes for determining the appropriate admission status based on the regulatory and reimbursement requirements of various commercial and government payers
• Communicates closely with third party payors to ensure all pertinent clinical information is provided to secure an authorization; appropriately documents information regarding the authorization number and the approved length of stay on the Case Manager Software
• Advocates for patient/family needs in a respectful, non-judgmental, and confidential manner
• Serves as a resource to physicians for clinical management and financial issues; assists the providers with promoting efficiencies in the care delivery system and reducing/ eliminating barriers to efficient/effective service
• Reviews patient cases for potential problems with OIG Workplan Audits and compliance issues; reports problems and makes recommendation to appropriate departments
• Appropriately refers cases to manager/director of care coordination, CAO, or medical director when intensity of service or severity of illness is not present and is unable to resolved
• Educates physicians, patients, and staff with regards to payors, financial issues, documentation, and potential compliance issues
• Investigates and responds to billing concerns from Business Office, Health Information Management, Admitting, and other sources; resolves financial and billing problems, such as appropriate patient status, correct payor source, denials, appeals, and system issues

These duties include, but are not limited to, greeting patients and visitors; verifying patients’ demographic and insurance information; registering patients; obtaining necessary signatures; determining patients’ out-of-pocket expense, collecting and documenting patient payments and/or financial counseling as appropriate; scheduling appointments; ensuring patient flow; switchboard; referral management; and medical records management. Customer service, clerical skills, fiduciary responsibility, and accuracy are extremely important in this role.

Job Description:
The Certified Pharmacy Technician II provides daily supportive services for the Department of Pharmacy according to hospital policies and procedures and in compliance with Kentucky pharmacy laws and other regulatory agencies. The technician actively supports and participates in the department’s continuous quality improvement initiatives and competency assessments and demonstrates a commitment to customer service and patient safety. The technician responds to requests in a prompt and efficient manner. Major job responsibilities include: distributes medications, including controlled substances, to a secure place for storage or administration, restocks automated dispensing cabinets (ADC), compounds sterile and non-sterile products, communicates with hospital staff, completes inspections, and reports unsafe practices to leadership.
Essential Functions:
Provides supportive services to the inpatient pharmacy
- Assists with filling, processing, and dispensing of medications by labeling medication, including bulk supplies, with proper ancillary labeling and bagging procedures, with final check performed by a pharmacist
- Answers phones according to established phone etiquette and triages calls to the proper personnel
- Charges and/or credits patients for medications used via the computer system
- Accurately and efficiently unit doses medications including cleaning the compounding area, restocking and replacing supplies, documenting in the compounding record, and ensuring doses are correctly labeled and prepared for pharmacist verification
- Prepares medications for loading into the ADC and unloads medications from the ADC utilizing bar code scanning
- Fills inventory requests for nursing unit’s ADCs, floor stock, and fills patient specific drawers by placing the proper bins according to census profile
- Supports the drug inventory process including ordering, rotation, and restocking of drug dispensing areas with drugs and supplies needed to process patient medications orders
- Ensures the maintenance of a clean and orderly work area, including a sterile environment
- Completes nursing unit and inventory inspections, as assigned. Restocks kits and crash cart trays, as required
- Fills controlled substance orders, reconciles all discrepancies and closes all loops on a daily basis
- Monitors medication activity for potential drug diversion and reports any discrepancies to the pharmacist or pharmacy leadership
- Delivers medications, including controlled substances, to nursing units’ ADC as scheduled and for emergent deliveries as necessary
- Assists with ensuring medications are delivered efficiently and accurately to patient care unit areas, including checking the tube system with each delivery, retrieving and transporting medications to the appropriate location
- Prepares and packages hazardous medications and adheres to all safety measures for handling hazardous medications described in USP 795/797/800
- Utilizes aseptic technique following department policies and procedures when compounding sterile products
Serves as a mentor to new pharmacy technicians, pharmacy technician students, and pharmacy students
- Provides guidance to certified pharmacy technicians and IPPE pharmacy student rotations as necessary
- Precepts pharmacy technician students
Executes hospital and pharmacy policies and procedures
- Investigates and resolve automated dispensing cabinet related issues
- Utilizes inventory management system and carousels to resolve drug distribution related issues
- Covers assigned shifts as determined by departmental need
- Facilitates investigational drug studies with assistance of the pharmacist and/or other personnel involved in the drug study
- Completes sterile compounding training, including hazardous medications, and demonstrate competency on a frequency defined by the Sterile Compounding Supervisor
