Demonstrates a commitment to the mission, vision and values of Baptist Health.
Registers patient in a timely and accurate manner, obtaining demographic and accurate insurance information.
Directs patients, answers the phone, and handles inquiries.
Ensures eligibility, Medicare compliance and benefits are properly verified prior to visit.
Demonstrates skill with all applicable access software systems.
Establishes patient portion due estimates and performs point of service collections activities. Can communicate with patient to establish payment expectations and plans based on individual insurance benefit plans.
Pre-registers patients. Demonstrates ability to have meaningful discussion of benefits with patient when pre-registering, and when present in the department.
Exhibits excellent customer service skills with patients, fellow employees, physicians and office staff.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested in order to maintain a high level of service.
Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements.
Maintains all patients visit information within the system, updating as requested.
Demonstrates knowledge of the legal aspect of access services, including state and federal regulatory body requirements regarding access services

Summary
Job Description:
The Patient Care Technician will be responsible for the examination and treatment of patients under the direct supervision of the physician or advanced practice clinician.
Duties include but not limited to the following: check in patients, obtaining vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, pulse oximetry, temperature) and medication reconciliation, patient medical history information, expediting patient flow, rooming patients, stocking clinic with supplies, navigating electronic health record system (EPIC), and performing other non-clinical duties as needed.
The PCT will communicate in a respectful manner and will uphold Baptist’s mission and core values that drive service excellence.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer skills, specifically with navigating within databases containing highly confidential information.
- Basic Life Support and other advanced training as appropriate, within 90 days of hire.
- Upon hire these disciplines will be required to attend orientation| externship and additional training as needed.

Keeps expense records and creates spreadsheets for productivity data.
Keep invoices and route for signature-submit for payment.

Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required:

Demonstrates the ability to perform and accurately document all procedures related to critical values, technical limit failures and QA activities. Demonstrates the ability to recognize a test or reporting system problem, troubleshoot and resolve if possible, seeking advice and escalating as needed. Performs appropriate patient procedures in accordance with age-specific guidelines for the age groups served.
- Ensures safety and compliance: Patients are accurately identified using two appropriate patient identifiers prior to sample collection. Patient samples are accurately labeled and identified throughout the testing process from sample collection through testing and storage. Misidentified samples are identified and responded to appropriately, notifying all appropriate staff. Results are reported for the correct specimen. Protects self, coworkers and facility by following approved policies and procedures to prevent the spread of blood borne and/or airborne diseases. Uses engineering controls, work practice controls and appropriate personal protective equipment as indicated in the section task list.
- Maintains appropriate education to accomplish work objectives and maintain current certifications as applicable.
