The Patient Access Registrar presents a pleasing, helpful, and courteous manner to patients, physicians, visitors, co-workers, and all other internal and external customers of the hospital. The registrar interviews patients in a professional manner and obtains all personal, medical, and financial information necessary for admissions and billing properly for services rendered. Obtains accurate insurance information and signatures when applicable and explains payment options available and refer to Patient Financial Counselor if necessary.Job Description:
Essential Functions:
- Receives and interviews patients in a courteous, empathetic, and professional manner
- Obtains and enters complete and accurate patient demographic, guarantor, and insurance information
- Assures completion of forms for signatures, authorization and consents
- Reviews patient insurance information and assigns appropriate insurance payor plan codes including policy, group and authorization numbers to ensure proper billing
- Assigns appropriate patient types and beds according to the type of registration (ER, Inpatient Admits, Observations, Outpatient Surgery (ODSU), Lab, Radiology, T-accounts, etc.). Works with physicians and nurses to ensure accurate patient placement. Corrects all changes to accounts prior to billing (inpatient to observation, observation to inpatient, inpatient to ODSU, etc.)
- Ensures that the ordering, attending, referring and primary care physicians are documented in the hospital computer system (SMS) correctly when registering patients
- Maintains awareness of individual patient needs and wait times for registration. Monitors waiting and treatment areas for patients that have not been registered
Other Functions:
- Complies with all department and hospital policies and procedures
- Maintains an efficient and effective patient flow
- Complies with local, state, and federal rules and regulations, and the requirements of accrediting bodies
- Performs other duties as assigned such as representing the group to management internally & externally as needed; responding to management inquiries and requests, etc.
- Attends and participates in department and hospital meetings, in-services, and quality improvement teams
- Contributes to the accomplishment of department and hospital objectives
- Projects a positive personal and professional image of the Patient Access Representative, department, and hospital at all times, under all circumstances
- Maintains a clean and orderly work area
- Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct
- Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times

What You'll Do
The Emergency Department Supervisor provides leadership and oversight for clinical operations, care progression initiatives, staff development, and regulatory compliance across assigned emergency department locations. This position will lead the development and management of post-visit follow-up programs, initially focusing on orthopedic patients to improve continuity of care, patient outcomes, and specialty service growth. Responsibilities will expand to additional patient populations as processes mature and become standardized.
The supervisor serves as a clinical resource and educator alongside the Emergency Department Director. This role includes operational oversight between the main Emergency Department and Free Standing Emergency Department (FSED), ensuring consistency in practice standards, regulatory compliance in lab at FSED, and patient carethroughout ED departments.
The position participates in rotating weekend administrative call coverage in partnership with the Emergency Department Director. Travel between Bentonville and Centerton, Arkansas.
Requirements
Graduate of an accredited registered nurse program.
Minimum of two years as a RN and minimum of two years of Charge Nurse experience.
Active BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS

Emergency Department:
The Emergency Department is a fast-paced ED treats an average of more than 180 patients per day. Types of cases include acute cardiovascular and neurovascular emergencies, general medical emergencies, traumatic injuries and psychiatric patients. We are recognized by the American Heart Association as both a STEMI receiving center and a designated Primary Stroke Center. The ages of those treated range from neonate to geriatric. An extensive orientation program allows the emergency nurse to work autonomously with a wide range of clinical specialties in treating the emergent patients and families. The ED fosters high levels of teamwork and collaboration with a multi-disciplinary group of professionals. New graduates with appropriate training and background are welcomed.
Job Summary:
Registered nurse implements the nursing process for each patient regardless of age (i.e. infancy to geriatric) assigned to his/her care and is responsible for the patient’s care within the parameters of the Kentucky Nurse Practice Act. The registered nurse promotes positive patient outcomes, quality of care and initiateschange through active involvement in unit-based and hospital shared-governance councils.
National Professional Nursing Standards serve as guidelines for the registered nurse as he/she utilizes critical thinking skills and exercises appropriate nursing judgment. The registered nurse will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes . Also, the registered nurse will serve as a role model by actively participating in the process of continuous professional development, teaching and learning across the healthcare continuum.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients in the ambulatory/clinic setting.
- Assess patients, utilize professional nursing judgment, and triage patient needs appropriately.
- Coordinate patient care and communicate clinical information effectively with providers, patients, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Educate patients and families regarding medications, treatment plans, procedures, and other healthcare needs.
- Assist with the efficient flow of patients throughout the clinic.
- Obtain and document patient information, including vital signs, medications, medical history, and other pertinent clinical data.
- Manage patient callbacks and prescription refill requests within the scope of professional nursing licensure and practice guidelines.
- Administer medications, injections, IV therapy, and other treatments as ordered and within the scope of licensure and training.
- Perform clinical procedures appropriate to the RN’s scope of practice and level of training, including phlebotomy, EKGs, PFTs, spirometry, nebulizer treatments, ear irrigations, and other in-office procedures.
- Perform and/or oversee in-office laboratory testing as directed by the provider.
- Prepare in advance for provider clinics by reviewing schedules and patient records to ensure necessary documentation, testing, and information are available.
- Assist providers with procedures and minor surgeries as needed.
- Ensure appropriate sterilization and handling of instruments used for minor procedures and surgeries.
- Monitor clinical supplies and assist with maintaining adequate inventory.
- Provide clinical oversight, guidance, and support to nursing and medical assistant staff.
- Assist the Clinic/Practice Manager with staffing needs, staff development, competency evaluations, and performance management.
- Assist with the development and implementation of clinical competencies, policies, and procedures.
- Support regulatory and accreditation requirements and promote compliance with applicable standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives designed to improve patient outcomes, safety, and clinical workflows.
- Collaborate with referral sources and other healthcare providers to promote effective coordination of patient care.
- Serve as a clinical resource and support for providers and clinical staff.
- Promote a positive, patient-centered environment and exceptional patient experience.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky required.
- Minimum of 3 years of RN clinical experience in an ambulatory or physician practice setting.
- Demonstrated leadership or charge nurse experience.
- Previous supervisory or clinical coordinator experience preferred.
- Experience leading or participating in quality improvement initiatives preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required within 90 days of employment.

The Patient Care Technician will be responsible for the examination and treatment of patients under the direct supervision of the physician or advanced practice clinician.
