Education Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing is required.
- Graduate from an accredited and approved school of nursing accepted for licensure in the state of practice plus 3 years clinical experience may be considered in lieu of bachelor's degree.
- Master’s degree in nursing or related field is preferred.
- Four years of staff nurse or healthcare experience is required.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is preferred.
- Specialty certification is preferred.

The Ambulatory and Outpatient Registered Nurse (RN), a member of Advocate Health Nursing Professional Governance community, provides high- quality, patient-centered care through evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, and compassionate care delivery in an ambulatory care setting. What You’ll Do:
Office hours Mon- Fri, no weekends, no holidays.
As a skilled and compassionate RN, you will play a pivotal role in providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
Using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skills communication while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.
About This Location:
Our oncologists and hematologists diagnose and treat adults with all types of cancers and blood diseases. Our office has its own lab, performs bone marrow biopsies, and administers chemotherapy.
This Center is designated as a hospital outpatient department and operates under the name Advocate Infusion Center of Advocate Northside Health Network.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
- Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
- Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.
- Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.
- Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.
- May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.
- Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.
- Physical Abilities Testing may be required.
- Additional department specific physical requirements may be identified for unique responsibilities within the department by the nurse leader.

Education Qualifications

What you will do:
- Maintain thorough knowledge of the scheduling requirements of the hospital ancillary departments and respond proactively to changes in the needs of these departments (i.e. calendar changes, new procedures to be added, new providers, etc.) Scheduling of procedures/consults and ongoing colonoscopy appointments.
- Schedule patient based on established department guidelines and in a manner that is focused on the customer’s needs. Reconcile and ensure accuracy of provider: Hospital, surgery center and AMG schedules.
- Determine testing variables and prevent scheduling conflicts. Manage and maintain provider schedules, assist in maintaining the provider calendar, ensure provider schedules are full.
- Insure proper test sequencing when multiple testing is ordered.

Establishes and maintains liaisons with physicians to promote programs and address any physician questions/concerns. Mentors and facilitates clinical problem solving with other staff. Develops training and/or clinical guidelines, implements staff orientation, competency and educational activities in area of expertise. Promotes and develops rehabilitation programs, leads program or referral development projects, and develops and presents educational programs to the community (i.e. industry, schools, etc.). Collaborates effectively with leadership in developing and upgrading existing programs and services at the site and/or system level.
Participates in performance improvement activities designed to identify and resolve problems affecting patient care outcomes and to improve quality of care. Manages assigned caseload, informing site leadership of coverage needs and ability to cover; assists with coverage, based on department needs and regional needs.
Pursues professional growth through participation in continuing education courses, department in-services, and reading professional literature and consistently introduces new ideas for consideration and implementation. Orients new staff to clinical and department policies as requested. Participates in the evaluation process of co-workers by providing verbal or written feedback as requested.
May supervise physical therapy assistants following all applicable state and local compliance requirements. Includes delegating patients to assistive personnel while providing direction, recommendations regarding treatment and ongoing supervision while maintaining responsibility for patient plan of care and goals. May supervise physical therapy extenders (rehab aides/techs) in administering treatments to patients and will teach them appropriate techniques to perform with specific patients. Supports the student clinical education program by monitoring, observing and providing work direction to a minimum of one student per year unless students are unavailable.
Minimum Job Requirements
Education
Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited school or educational requirements commensurate with the date of graduation. Maintains continuing education requirements as mandated by applicable state professional standards.
Certification / Registration / License
Licensed Physical Therapist in the State upon which you work. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (obtained within 90 days unless department leader has determined is not required) by the American Heart Association (AHA).
The senior level clinician should have certification within an area that directly impacts their scope of practice within 18 months, or advanced knowledge, as determined by the advancement application approved by Rehab Leadership.
Certifications must be provided by a professional association, certifying body or institution authorized to award the industry accepted certification within the practitioner’s field of specialization.
Work Experience
Requires 5 years of experience with preferred 7 years of experience in physical therapy, as determined by the Rehab leadership. Physical Therapist position at a hospital, outpatient, or other relevant setting. Clinical expertise in specific area of rehabilitation; specialized area/skill noted by advance certification as determined by the Rehab leadership.

- Creates the initial electronic health record that serves as the foundation of the patient medical record that is utilized by all members of the healthcare team. Prevents creation of duplicate medical records that can cause treatment safety issues and billing problems. Follows and ensures compliance with the mandate of the organization’s accrediting bodies to use identifiers to positively identify a patient prior to the delivery of patient care to ensure patient safety.
- Checks in and registers patients; obtains and verifies complete demographic, guarantor, and insurance information; discusses and collects co-pays and other out-of-pocket patient responsibilities. Obtaining accurate information at the point of registration helps ensure timely payment to the organization and prevents billing issues and patient complaints. Maintains complete confidentiality regarding patient personal/financial information and medical records in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Knows insurance basics and recognizes commercial and government plans. Understands which plans Advocate Health contracts with and when a statement of financial responsibility is needed. Understands and discusses financial information and obligations with patients. Knows how and when to refer patients to Financial Advocates.
- Has knowledge of which rules, forms and questions must be enforced to make sure Advocate Health remains compliant with government agencies and regulations. Refer patients to Drug List Techs for update of medications before surgery as needed. 7.
