*Cardiology Veterinary Technician*
We’re looking for a Cardiology Technician who brings both strong technical skills and a positive team spirit to every shift.
This role calls for someone who’s confident with advanced veterinary procedures, thrives in a fast-paced specialty and emergency environment, and knows how to keep calm when things get critical. You should be comfortable with ECGs, echocardiograms, client communication, patient handling, and working closely with our cardiologists to provide top-tier care.
You’ll be part of a collaborative, experienced group that supports each other, shares knowledge, and delivers compassionate care to every patient.
We’re also excited about candidates who want to contribute beyond the treatment floor, those who are interested in helping promote the hospital’s programs, products, and services through Continuing Education events and other marketing efforts. *DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
*Technical Skills*
* Schedule appointments and medical procedures for the Cardiologist.
* Perform appropriate animal restraint for exams and record findings on the exam form.
* Accurately acquire and record temperatures, pulses, respirations, weights and take patient histories and maintain patient records by recording all conversations with client in patient file.
* Perform venipuncture, catheterization, running CBCs and looking at blood smears.
* Obtain laboratory samples including urine and feces.
* Prepare appropriate lab request forms and submit appropriate samples.
* Prepare specimens to be sent to reference laboratories, ship lab work to, and take results from reference laboratories.
* Check laboratory values to make sure they are within normal limits and notify the Cardiologist if they are not.
* Administer injectable, oral, and dermal medications.
* Give injections in accordance with government regulations and doctor’s orders.
* Update patient status daily at required times.
* Accurately acquire blood pressure and oxygen saturation readings and EKG tracings.
* Maintain logs for controlled substances.
* Enter charges in the computer and prepare estimates.
* Knowledge of Ambulatory ECG placement and recording.
* Stock supplies and clean and maintain cardiology suite, equipment, and induction.
* Accurately fill out prescription forms and place prescription orders at offsite pharmacies for new and refill prescriptions.
* Communicate with referring veterinarians.
* Communicate with clients regarding the medical status of their pet and provide accurate information to them regarding procedure for home care and hospital protocols.
* Enter patient status daily in the treatment software.
* Enter all charges accrued by inpatients and outpatients.
* Admit and discharge patients.
* Assist with outpatient and inpatient appointments.
* Review medical records and notes to discern the nature of the visit and any tests or procedures that may be needed. Keep Cardiologist apprised of potential problems.
* Assist doctor with and prepare supplies for outpatient appointments and physical examinations.
*Communication Skills*
* Have a positive attitude and willing to learn new procedures.
* Keep doctors informed of the patient's condition and any potential problems.
* Communicate with clients regarding the medical information of their pet, provide accurate information to them regarding procedures, follow up/home care, hospital policies, diagnostics, and basic disease processes.
* Monitor AllyDVM and Cardiology external and internal email
* Monitor hospital wide communications including, Slack, Google Groups, The Scoop Newsletter etc.
* Help schedule appointments and medical procedures
*QUALIFICATIONS*
Required:
* Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or active Provisional License on track for CO DORA registration.
* Minimum 2 years recent veterinary cardiology experience
* Skilled in animal handling, lifting, restraint, and able to stand for extended periods.
* Proficient in IV catheter placement, blood draws, lab work, anesthesia monitoring, medication administration, and triage.
* Solid knowledge of veterinary procedures and terminology; committed to continued learning.
* Understanding of OSHA, DEA, and animal health regulations.
Preferred:
* Familiarity with Fear Free handling techniques.
* Experience with Cornerstone and Instinct software.
*SAFETY*
* Follow OSHA and USP guidelines for safety and handling of hazardous materials
* Follow established hospital safety protocols for animal handling, controlled substances, radiation protection, bite wounds, and equipment use
* Maintain familiarity with federal and state animal health laws, including OSHA and DEA regulations

What You’ll Do
Provide skilled registered nursing care in a home health setting

Weekend rotations are required in this role. Enjoy a flat rate $1.50/hour weekend shift differential and an $5/hour night shift differential when applicable.

This position performs all cleaning of patient rooms and/or assigned areas. Works as a member of the environmental service team to ensure the safety, health, and high morale of patients, visitors and staff by helping to provide a clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing environment with minimal interference to others.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Performs a variety of assigned cleaning tasks, including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming and polishing according to departmental policy and procedures. Must plan the completion of these tasks daily.
2. Empties hampers and transports of soiled linen. Empties trash containers and removes all trash. Empties all medical waste containers, including sharps.
3. Inventories, restocks and replenish supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, hand soap, etcetera, located in all assigned areas of the facility.
4. Maintains cleanliness of departmental equipment and notifies appropriate personnel as repairs become necessary. Protects equipment from damage by proper use; properly logs out and in equipment that has been used.
5. May perform special projects such as: windows washing, wall washing, removing heavily soiled items or furnishings.
6. Responds to questions and requests from patients, staff and visitors. Meets or exceeds goals for customer service satisfaction.
7. Under regular supervision, this position has responsibility at an assigned facility/area only. Internal customers include facility staff, physicians, nurses, patients, visitors, supervisors, managers, and executives. External customers include visitors, patients, and employees from other company and non-company facilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision. Must be able to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively with others by phone and verbally. Must be able to read and understand material safety data sheets and instructions for mixing and use of cleaning chemicals, and able to fill out chemical identification stickers.
Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral, and BUMG, BUMCT, or BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire. Employees working at Olive Branch Senior Center must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous related experience and familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques is preferred.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
Estimated Pay Range:
$16.00 - $24.00 / hour
