Radiologic Technologist - Full Time 80 Hours/Pay Period - Bronson LakeView HospitalPerforms radiographic examinations of various anatomical parts and systems of the body in order to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of physical injuries or medical disorders. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
- Must have a minimum of one of the following a Certificate of Completion of a Hospital base program or Associate’s degree from an accredited school of Radiology Technology required
- Registered ARRT required or registry eligible. Registry eligible technologist must receive registry within 6 months of hire date.
- Employee must provide successfully complete BLS training course within 6 months of hire.
- Must be able to operate and perform basic computer programs associated with record keeping in the department
- Must demonstrate excellent human relation skills to deal with patients, providers and other in sometimes difficult or sensitive situation
- Must have a customer service orientation.
- Must demonstrate leadership and organization skills including the ability to work independently and take initiative within established procedures
- Must demonstrate a positive attitude
- Work which produces high levels of mental/visual fatigue, e.g., interactive and repetitive or small detailed work requiring alertness and concentration for sustained periods of time. The operation of and full attention to a personal computer or CRT between 40 and 70 percent of the time.
- Involves considerable standing or walking , regular lifting of light-weight objects (i.e., 20 pounds or less) and assisting with heavier tasks such as assisting in lifting and moving patient (i. e., 50 pounds or more) Minor straining or fatiguing positions must be assumed, and some fatiguing physical motions are required.
- Works on a rotational basis in several area of radiology department performing routine radiology examinations as well as more advanced diagnostic procedures (i. e., Fluoroscopy, joint injections, Lumbar/myelogram exams).
- Receives or escorts patients into examination area, reviews pertinent patient information; instructs patient concerning the examination to be perform. Assist provider with procedures
- Positions patients to obtain and effect the results specified for diagnoses; sets up and adjust supportive and immobilization devices as necessary;, applies and adjusts radiation protective shielding as needed.
- Operates various variety of diagnostic radiographic equipment to provide optimal diagnostic radiology examinations in accordance with physician order/request. Consults radiologist as t clarify orders or to discuss unusual situations. Performs work in radiology department or other areas as necessary to accommodate patient/provider needs
- Operates all equipment properly and with care. Immediately reports any malfunctions, necessary adjustments or repairs.
- Assists providers in administering prescribed radiolucent or radiopaque media for examinations.
- Performs first aid as required and assists in cases of adverse reaction to contrast media or in other emergencies.
- Observes and practices sterile technique.
- Maintains cleanness of procedure rooms and equipment
- Maintains accurate documentation of patient and file information
- Maintaining appropriate supply level in their area of responsibility
- Demonstrates or oversees the on the job training for student technologists and other non-professional assistants as assigned.

At Houston Methodist, the Emergency Room Technician position is responsible for maintaining knowledge and skills necessary to communicate appropriately and carry out delegated tasks for diverse patient population and their families in the Emergency Room, performing patient care activities of daily living (ADL's), as needed. This position performs delegated patient care duties under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The Emergency Room Technician position records data established by policy and procedure, and reports observations and patient problems to the licensed nurse and/or provider. The Emergency Room Technician position is responsible for assigned non-nursing functions independently, handling patient care and technical issues as they arise within the scope of their job. This position also performs clerical tasks such as answering the phones and transcribes orders as needed.

SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs delegated low risks, high frequency technical and clinical procedures required for patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Documents, where applicable, comprehensive screenings, care administered, diagnostic measurements, allergies and medication lists, treatments and procedures as determined by skills, training and validation (i.e., vital signs, 12 Lead EKG, I.V. catheter insertion, CPR, splinting, specimen collection, immobilization by backboard, extrication from vehicles) in accordance with established policies and procedures. Repeats vital signs according to policy.
- Assumes the role of phlebotomist when necessary. Performs drug screen collection according to established policy, procedure, and protocols.
- Observes patients, making hourly rounds to ensure patient needs are met (four P’s), for condition change. Reports observations, conditions and problems of patients to the licensed nurse to achieve desired patient outcomes. Responds to the call light system, contacting nursing personnel as appropriate, and follows through with meeting patient needs.
- Actively works to pursue high levels of patient satisfaction by contributing towards improving department scores for patient satisfaction through peer-to-peer accountability.
QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Reports all accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards. Communicates with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the workplace.
- Accurately identifies the patient using standardized patient identification protocols and resolves any discrepancies prior to caring for patient. Provides for the privacy of patients and families, keeping the safety of the patient in mind.
- Supports initiatives to prevent conditions such as pressure injuries, patient falls, and hospital-acquired infections. Contributes to identification of corrective action and improvement activities, impacting hospital and department quality and safety targets, through peer-to-peer accountability, collaborating with the interprofessional team.

This position provides screening, evaluation, and rehabilitation services for patients with speech and language disorders related to speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, swallowing, and fluency. This position plans and carries out specialized treatment programs, documents treatment, and maintains data regarding patient care. This incumbent provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contributes to the overall patient plan of care. This position is responsible for on-going patient data collection and documentation in the medical records. The position also performs a variety of support functions which contribute to the overall efficient operation of the nursing unit/department.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Assists with daily living activities and completes necessary tasks to promote patient health, including assisting patients with basic hygiene needs, maintaining an optimum level of mobility and providing assistance with nutritional intake as needed.
2. Collects patient specimens and data, including vital signs, input/output and other delegated measurements in accordance with policy and standards of care. Documents objective data and routine aspects of patient care. Assists in the transportation of patient specimens.

6. Maintains adequate levels of office, dietary, and medical supplies and completes requisition forms when supplies need to be ordered. Reconciles supply order upon delivery. Monitors and tracks the use and whereabouts of electronic equipment such as patient ID scanners and lap top computers. Ensures that all are accounted for and in working order.
7. Based on area of assignment may assist with transporting patients, including pre-operative and immediate post-operative patients to critical care unit. Participates in room turnover.
