This job ensures availability of cleaned, prepared, sterilized equipment and supplies for surgical procedures; functions as a resource for clinical knowledge; and performs other duties as assigned by the sterile processing leadership. Job Duties

• Performs general and specialized instrument care duties.

• Provides supplies as needed for surgical procedures.

• Disassembles and cleans critical reusable medical equipment in accordance with Manufacturer’s Instructions For Use (MIFU).

• Inspects, packages, and reassembles surgical instruments and trays according to established priority.

• Practices High Level Disinfection, Pre-Vaccuum Sterilization, Gravity Displacement Sterilization, and Hydrogen Peroxide Plasma Sterilization techniques in accordance with MIFUs.

• Practices record keeping and document control as defined in Standard Operating Procedures, policies, and recommendations from regulatory bodies.

• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.

• Performs other related duties as required.

• Position is located at Vanderbilt University Hospital Inpatient Central Pharmacy.
• Shift hours are Monday - Friday 11:00am - 7:30pm.
• Every 4th weekend rotation both Saturday and Sunday.
• Responsibilities include placing and receiving orders, inventory, and dispensing narcotic medication.
• Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician through either PTCB or NHA in order to be considered.

8. Documents imaging activities accurately and consistently in accordance with ACR and federal mandates.
9. Engages in problem solving, crisis management, and systems implementation with physicians, nursing, technical and support personnel throughout the hospital.
10. Performs a full range of mammographic imaging quality control tests in accordance with the manufacturer and documents them in the Mammography Quality Control Track module.
11. Displays imaging techniques, patient care and guest relation behaviors in accordance with the ARRT Code of Ethics, Administrative Policies and Procedures, Radiology Department Policies, Mammography, State and Federal Regulations, and The Joint Commission guidelines.

About the Cardiovascular Surgical ICU Unit

•    20 Bed cardiac surgical ICU

•    Nurses handle 1-2 patients on this unit based on acuity level.

•    Nurses provide service to any patients that have undergone open heart surgeries such as CABG, Valve repair or replacement, aneurysm repair, TAVR, ablations, Heart Transplantation, and Mechanical Circulatory Support devices including the Total Artificial Heart and Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), and various lung surgeries.

•    Nurses manage critically ill patients that require intensive hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation, multiple drug infusions, IABP therapy and CRRT.

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. Qualifications:

Education:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required) AND one of the following is required:
• Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, or
• Successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or

POSITION SUMMARY: The Advanced Practice Professional (APP) has coordination and clinical skills required for the comprehensive management of pulmonary patients, (including biological, social, nutritional and psychological assessments). The APP coordinates involvement of medical specialty teams necessary to develop a comprehensive plan for the patient, and reviews the plan of care with the other members of the clinical team, participates in directing that care, performs diagnostic/therapeutic procedures and coordinates discharge planning (as applicable) and outpatient management. The APP participates in the education of residents and medical/nursing students.

Monday through Friday 8am to 4:30 PM. 36 hours of patient facing care and 4 hours of administrative time weekly. No call requirements.
