Hours: 7:00 am to 5:30 pm working four ten-hour shifts per week. Will be required to take call.
The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse will float, monitor, scrub and have the opportunity to work with the following procedures: diagnostic caths, interventions, CTOs, Afib Watchman device, Impella, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), TAVR Heart Valve Replacement, Mitra clips, Left/Right heart caths, biopsies, cardioversions, Transesophageal echo, loop recorder implants, etc.
The Sentara Heart Hospital, a 112-bed care facility, is #2 for Cardiology services and Heart Surgery in the State of Virginia and ranks #24 in the nation for best heart programs.
Education:
- Associates Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
- Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
Certification/Licensure:
- Virginia RN License Virginia or Compact/Multi-State Eligible.
- All Direct Care RN's required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.
- Critical Care/IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire
Experience:
- Registered Nurse with Critical Care, PCU, ER, Cardiac, Stepdown or Recovery Room will be considered.

The unit also serves as an extension of our renal/pancreas transplant program, partnering closely with the outpatient transplant center to support patients through critical stages of care. The Nurse Professional Development Generalist assumes operational responsibility for the development and implementation of staff education within designated population(s). Functions as a learning facilitator supporting orientation, practice transitions, and continuing education. Provides foundational education competency/skills validation to successfully move nurses from novice to beginner/competent practitioners. Accountable for defined aspects of staff development, continuing education and professional development of nursing staff to improve quality, safety, and patient outcomes. Supports system and hospital performance improvement and evidence-based practice projects and initiatives.
Department Overview:
Burn Trauma is a 34-bed mixed Intermediate care and medical/surgical unit. There are 17 beds for stepdown/intermediate level of care. The patient population is neurosurgery, trauma, burns and orthopedic trauma. The intermediate care patients are received from both the Burn Trauma ICU and the Neurosurgical ICU. Also, there are 17 beds for Medical/Surgical level of care for neurosurgical, trauma, burns, orthopedic trauma, and bariatric weight loss (gastric bypass and gastric sleeves). Our nurses are trained to work both the intermediate and the medical surgical side. The nurse to patient ratio for the Intermediate Care beds are 3 to 4 and for the Medical/Surgical beds are 5 to 6. The Registered Nurse will work in a collaborative role as part of a team to maintain and support the standards of nursing care and practice, to meet the health care needs of patients, their families, and the community.

Nurses on this unit provide compassionate, specialized care while monitoring patient conditions, administering medications, delivering chemotherapy and other treatments, and supporting patients through complex care needs. Care provided on this unit includes chemotherapy, hospice, radiation, stem cell transplant/CAR-T, radioactive iodine, and symptom management.
Vascular 9 K Unit Overview
On 9 Kaufman, you’ll care for a diverse patient population and gain hands-on experience with complex vascular procedures such as aortic aneurysm repair, carotid endarterectomy, femoral bypass surgeries, and amputations. The unit also serves as an extension of our renal/pancreas transplant program, partnering closely with the outpatient transplant center to support patients through critical stages of care. Every bed is monitored, giving nurses the opportunity to strengthen telemetry skills while expanding their expertise in surgical specialty and transplant nursing.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Required, graduate degree preferred.
- One year of Management experience required
- Two years experience in a support leadership RN position, i.e. Unit Coordinator, Team Lead, or other like position may be accepted in lieu of 1 year formal management experience.

Unit Description:
The Sentara Princess Anne Hospital provides exceptional emergency care to patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week with expert staff, cutting-edge technology and specialty services, including:
Board-certified emergency physicians
Emergency nurses certified in advanced cardiac life support, trauma and pediatric certifications
Pediatric-trained team to treat children of all ages
Overnight observation rooms for children and a separate family-friendly waiting area
Seamless connection to easily accessible radiology department
Landing pad for Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance to ensure quicker treatment in emergency situations
Job Description:
Sentara is a career destination for professional nursing. The Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive, patient-centered care in a dynamic healthcare setting. This role involves assessing patient needs, developing individualized care plans, delivering treatments, and supporting patients and families with education and compassionate service. The RN collaborates within an interdisciplinary team to monitor patient progress, make clinical adjustments, and advocate for the best patient outcomes, ensuring safety and adherence to evidence-based practices.
Education:
ADN required, BSN or higher preferred.
Certification:
Virginia or compact multistate RN (Registered Nurse) license in good standing.
BLS within 90 days of hire.
ACLS & PALS or ENPC within 1 year of hire
Experience:
2 years Nursing Experience in a hospital setting.
RN Experience in the ED highly preferred.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $41.93 - $61.01 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
