In this highly technical allied imaging professional position, you'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide the very best imaging services, which include ultrasound, CT scan, PET scan, interventional radiology, digital mammography, and nuclear medicine. The primary purpose of the CT Technologist position is to perform all the imaging and clinical duties of a CT Technologist, in addition, he/she performs special imaging techniques and assists the Radiologist with interventional procedures that require CT guidance.

At Houston Methodist, the Student Professional Nurse (SPN) position is part of the Methodist Advancement into Professional Practice (MAPP) program which provides students with opportunities to follow a nursing preceptor in support of building clinical competency and confidence in transition from student role to new graduate nurse. - Participates in nursing care conferences and discharge planning with the patient, family and other members of the health care team. Organizes the work flow, problem-solves basic and routine matters, and manages multiple ongoing priorities, seeking guidance and assistance from preceptor, by utilizing resource persons, i.e. licensed nurse, or management, policy and procedure manuals, or other references on standards of care
- Delivers care in a kind, courteous and honest manner. Identifies and communicates patient problems/needs and nursing interventions performed to the Registered Nurse assigned. Reinforces health care information/teaching provided by the Registered Nurse to the patient and family.
- Role models the patient and family-centered care standards and provides direct patient care under the direction of a registered nurse. Responds to the call light system, contacting nursing personnel as appropriate, and follows through with meeting patient needs. Uses peer-to-peer accountability, towards improving department score for patient satisfaction on unit-based scorecard, i.e. bedside shift handoff/report.
QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs direct patient care, treatments and procedures in accordance with established policies and standards of the hospital as outlined in the plan of care. Legally documents, where applicable, delegated observations and interventions, care administered in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Accurately reports observations, conditions and problems of patients to licensed personnel to achieve desired patient outcomes. Acts as patient advocate by preserving the privacy of patients and families, keeping the safety of the patient in mind.
- Rounds to ensure patient needs are met (four P’s). Supports initiatives to prevent conditions such as pressure ulcers, patient falls, and hospital-acquired infections. Reports near misses and collaborates with the interprofessional health care team to improve patient safety.
- Contributes to identification of corrective action and improvement activities, impacting quality and safety targets on the unit-based scorecard, through peer-to-peer accountability, reporting near misses, and collaborating with the interprofessional team.

- Acts as a good steward of resources by ensuring the best use of equipment and materials. Self-motivated to independently manage time effectively and prioritize daily tasks, minimizing incidental overtime. - The Epic Trainer (ET) is to serve as an expert for Epic workflows and is responsible for conducting one on one and classroom training for clinical and non-clinical end users.

DEPARTMENT: PATIENT CARE FACILITY
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: REPORTS DIRECTLY TO OFFICE MANAGER
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: NONE
JOB SUMMARY: GREETS, INSTRUCTS AND SCHEDULES PATIENTS, REGISTERS PATIENTS INTO THE COMPUTER SYSTEM, AND DETERMINES THEIR INSURANCE BENEFITS. SERVES AS A LIAISON BETWEEN PATIENT AND CLINICAL SUPPORT STAFF.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (THIS LIST MAY NOT INCLUDE ALL OF THE DUTIES ASSIGNED.)
1. Maintains strictest confidentiality.
2. Greets patients in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner.
3. Checks-in patients, verifies and updates demographic and insurance information to the medical record. Assists patients with ambulatory difficulties. Follows office scheduling policies. Collects payments and enters charges into computer system.
4. Registers new patients into computer system and verifies all patients’ addresses, telephone numbers and insurance information.
5. Answers telephone, screens calls, takes messages, and conveys information to appropriate parties. Proficiency with medical office technology systems.
6. Maintains work area and reception area in neat and orderly manner.
7. Advises Practice Manager of problems and concerns in the Front Office and helps in problem solving.
8. Attends educational and staff meetings as scheduled.
9. Determine and input daily balance of charges and receipts as assigned by the Office Manager.
Follows established policies and procedures; adheres to OSHA Regulations. Must be able to work with other staff members to foster a team approach to the highest quality of patient care and staff cooperation. Must be able to support the clinic efficiency and cohesion.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of front office procedures and medical terminology. Excellent grammar and spelling skills. Knowledge in operation of medical office technology systems. Skill in greeting patients and answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner. Ability to speak clearly and concisely. Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction. Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.
EDUCATION
High school education or equivalent
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
1. Strong communication skills with consistent incorporation of judgement and discretion.
2. Working knowledge of medical terminology and coding preferred.
Previous two years in a front office using medical management software preferred.
4. Previous typing or data entry at 40 wpm experience.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Frequent mobility and/or sitting required for extended periods of time. Some bending and stooping required. Requires occasional lifting up to 50 pounds of boxes of paper. Requires manual dexterity to operate office technology. Requires eyesight correctable to 20/20 to read numbers, policies, and computer terminals. Requires hearing within normal range for telephone use.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in an office environment and requires both desk and counter work. Frequent contact with employees and outside agencies. Continual patient contact may involve dealing with angry and upset people.
