In this highly technical, fast-paced, and challenging nursing position, you'll collaborate with multidisciplinary team members from various specialties within the hospital to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with unit standards of care.e.
Your Job Requirements:
• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
• BSN strongly preferred
• Current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support certification required
• Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification required
• Current additional certifications as required by department
• Current license to practice professional nursing in Texas or eligibility to do so
• Work experience: at least 2 years NICU RN experience

The hospital is a Primary Stroke Center, Magnet hospital, and has level IV trauma designation. The ER is 26 beds with 8 pedi beds; will be going to 50 beds adult, same pedi with expansion. Currently 14 adult beds, patients everywhere with construction.Collaborates with the physician and healthcare team in the delivery of patient care, utilizing the nursing process. Provides professional nursing care to patients, including conducting nursing assessments, assisting with exams and treatment, patient education, and maintenance of medical records. Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
License/Certification:

Principal Accountabilities
Performs radiography (x-ray) exams on patients ensuring compliance with all radiation safety procedures: Prepares patients for exam, obtains and records patient’s vital signs, explains procedure, administers IV and contrast when necessary, positions patients for the exam, selects appropriate imaging techniques, and ensures technical quality of the images
Helps maintain appropriate patient flow and ensures delivery of quality services in the imaging department

Reviews incomplete exam list and unsigned report status routinely
Functions as a liaison between physicians, technologists and department support staff
Enters and monitors patient data and health history as its pertinent to the exam being performed
Performs quality assurance on radiology equipment. Recommends equipment modifications. Identifies and helps to resolve equipment malfunctions. Completes initial and renewal application for ACR and any other accreditation.
Maintains safety, environmental, and infection control procedures for the department
Helps schedule technologists to ensure appropriate staffing for expected patient volume
Intervenes with patients to help resolve complaints and issues

• Registered Nurse (RN) renders highly professional and technical nursing care to assigned patients. - Performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures to include common and special ultrasound exams. Also able to perform vascular ultrasound exams. Ultrasound exams use high-frequency sound waves to capture images.
- Proactively assesses, identifies and responds to the needs of the patient for adjustment or intervention to optimize patient care, image quality and patient experience. This includes: positioning, physiology, procedure preparation, and technical factors. Modifies technical factors to achieve desired imaging results and recognizes complications and limitations associated with certain procedures.
- Provides direct assistance to physicians during diagnostic or special procedures, including assisting with sterile technique.
- Provides accurate explanations and instructions to patients and family members at an appropriate level utilizing verbal and non-verbal skills, terminology and language.
QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Follows safety standards and conducts all imaging procedures accordingly. Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures, regularly practices aseptic techniques, and ensures compliance with infection control procedures. Complies with job, department and hospital safety standards, practices and policies.
- Reports “near misses” and inputs errors promptly into appropriate hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identify trends. Contributes to identification of corrective actions and improvement activities, and contributes to meeting department and hospital targets for quality and safety.
- Performs daily imaging equipment quality control (QC) ensuring all imaging equipment is in safe working order prior to use. Reports any malfunctions to management and regularly practices preventive maintenance procedures; calls for service if needed.
- Utilizes critical thinking skills to observe and proactively address patient reactions (i.e. contrast media and medications) or potential outcomes and obtains assistance, as appropriate.
