Job Purpose:
• In this highly technical, fast-paced, and challenging nursing position, you'll work with multidisciplinary team members to provide our patients the best care. You'll be at the heart of our patient-centered care, valued for your compassion as you continually strive to improve the patient experience. With clear communication and dedication to building relationships that promote a collaborative environment, you'll be accountable for your performance and empowered to take initiative for your professional growth - while being engaged and eager to build a winning team.
• Registered Nurse (RN) renders highly professional and technical nursing care to assigned patients. Provides direct and indirect patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation). Directs and supervises other assigned team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with unit standards of care.

Job Requirements:
• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. BSN Preferred
• Current license to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas
• Current Basic Life Support Certification
• Additional certifications as required by department
Related Work Experience and Other Skills:
• Knowledgeable about hospital policies, procedures, and nursing care standards and utilizes these when providing nursing care.
• Work experience: Minimum 12 months RN experience or completion of Nurse Residency Program

How You’ll Impact Patient Care:
Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Assists licensed pharmacist in technical duties related to preparation and distribution of medications.
- Accurately selects, prepares, and labels medications for patients including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
- Assists with medication distribution tasks.
- Screens phone calls and routes as needed using proper telephone and voicemail etiquette.
- Assists in daily pharmacy procurement, inventory control, and outdate checking.

The RN II position demonstrates clinical competence when providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures and managing emergencies, acting as a patient and family advocate in order to monitor and maintain patient rights. This position assumes leadership roles with progressive responsibility including but not limited to participating in or leading unit and shared governance initiatives, serving as charge nurse or preceptor to students or new employees, and possibly contributing to service line or hospital-wide initiatives in partnership with management.

- Prepares the operating room, equipment and supplies for the next patient. Anticipates additional instrumentation, equipment and supplies for usage during the procedure before surgeon scrubs. - Anticipates the needs of the surgeon and nursing staff by passing instruments and supplies for surgical procedures, performing competently the role of the surgical technologist in the provision of surgical assistance during a variety of surgical procedures including but not limited to: orthopedics, gynecology, general, ENT, ophthalmology, urology, CV, spine, neurology, oral/maxillofacial, and minimally invasive procedures.
- Assists the circulating RN with sponge, instrument, needle, and other surgical counts.
