EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or other field relevant to the healthcare industry
- Master’s degree in healthcare or business related field preferred
EXPERIENCE
- Five years of experience in a hospital setting, preferably in patient care or quality
- Three years of experience in one or more of the following: healthcare quality, accreditation or regulatory activities in a healthcare setting; performance improvement; patient safety; infection prevention and control; and/or health information management
- Two years of experience performing accreditation or regulatory activities in a hospital setting

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Collaborates and effectively communicates with a wide variety of disciplines within the hospital to evaluate, improve, and sustain regulatory and accreditation readiness. Fosters cooperation among departments and disciplines to achieve and sustain ongoing accreditation and regulatory compliance.
- In partnership with hospital leadership, establishes a process to conduct a proactive review of regulatory, accreditation and certification to assess vulnerabilities to compliance with standards.
- Leads process in collaboration with hospital leadership to assign teams to develop corrective action in response to survey findings and facilitate development and implementation of the corrective action processes. Provides guidance and direction to hospital with on-site or written response and resolution to a regulatory or accreditation survey or complaint investigation as needed.
SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Supports and participates in hospital pre-survey, on-site survey, and post-survey activities for accreditation, regulatory and disease-specific certification programs. Functions as a consultant/surveyor and conducts internal surveys using ISO 9001 process audit tools and techniques to assess and evaluate ongoing survey readiness.
- Communicates survey findings to Quality & Patient Safety leadership and other hospital quality/patient safety (accreditation/regulatory) departments.
- Communicates updates to regulatory/accreditation/certification standards. Provides support, guidance, assessment and evaluation of hospital implementation of processes and practices to comply with new or revised requirements. Provides education and training related to regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Serves as a primary source of contact with accreditation and regulatory agencies; manages hospital profile information independently.
QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Facilitates implementation and resolution of survey corrective action processes; provides ongoing review and evaluation of the implementation, effectiveness and sustainability of corrective action plan processes. Tracks, trends and analyzes survey nonconformities; identifies opportunities for improvement and best practices.
- Develops and evaluates processes for an ongoing regulatory and accreditation readiness program that promotes continual improvement in compliance with standards, including ISO 9001 Quality Management and performing gap analyses.
- Facilitates resolution of survey nonconformities through development of collaborative and proactive action plans.
FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Participates in annual budget preparation, expense projections and justifications.
- Utilizes efficient and cost-effective work practices with department resources and supplies; provides recommendations to reduce expenses.
GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Remains current with regulatory, accreditation and certification changes through available resources such as conferences or internet-based learning, reviewing and researching specific program materials, and/or reviewing professional journals.
- Communicates innovative and best practices to hospital quality and patient safety departments and leadership. Identifies opportunities to align policy and procedure with regulatory/ accreditation requirements.
- Enhances continual improvement activities by acquiring, utilizing and teaching performance improvement concepts and techniques, such as ISO 9001 and LEAN.

• Registered Nurse (RN) renders highly professional and technical nursing care to assigned patients. SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs interventional and therapeutic cardiac or electrophysiology procedures including but not limited to peripheral and coronary angioplasty, stents, rotablators, artherectomy, laser, and coronary ultrasound; electrophysiology procedures including ablations and device implantation; fluoroscopy and cine modalities, as well as recommending various radiological techniques to maximize best visualization of patient’s cardiac anatomy.
- Actively participates and scrubs into Cath Lab cases to assist with the movement and alignment of equipment as while as the control of radiation throughout procedures.
- Provides care for the physical needs of patients by executing various Radiologic concepts to maximize performance. This includes: positioning, physiology, procedure preparation, and technical factors. Modifies technical factors to achieve desired imaging results and recognizes complications / limitations associated with certain procedures. Proactively identifies how to address these for optimum outcomes.
- Provides direct assistance to physicians during diagnostic or special procedures, including assisting with sterile technique.

- Follows radiation safety standards and conducts all imaging procedures accordingly. Properly utilizes patient radiation protection and immobilization during diagnostic procedures. Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures, regularly practices aseptic techniques, and ensures compliance with infection control procedures. Complies with job, departmental and hospital safety standards, practices and policies.
- Reports “near misses” and inputs errors promptly into documentation system to improve processes and identify trends. Contributes to identification of corrective actions and improvement activities and contributes to meeting departmental and hospital targets for quality and safety.
- Ensures all imaging equipment has had QC performed as required and is in safe working order prior to use. Reports any malfunctions to management and regularly practices preventive maintenance procedures; calls for service if needed.

This role provides strategic scientific oversight for innovation and implementation research programs, including complex, multidisciplinary projects that leverage data science, analytics, clinical workflows, and health system transformation methodologies.
The Research Scientist serves as Scientific Director of the department and institutional representative, acting as a gatekeeper for research relationships with government agencies, industry partners, and academic collaborators.
This position operates to ensure that the scientific, operational, and budgetary needs of the department’s research portfolio are met. The Research Scientist supports management and research staff by monitoring scientific rigor and performance, standardizing research and analytic practices, optimizing financial and data resources, maintaining productivity, and resolving scientific, technical, and operational challenges across projects.

- Adheres to scheduling processes and workflows as defined in the electronic medical record platform while maintaining privacy and complying with HIPPA guidelines.
- Maintains standard of productivity set by department policy and procedures and meets scheduling goals set by the department (e.g., abandonment rate, productivity per hour, etc.).
- Utilizes resources to perform verification of patient insurance. Obtains required data in order to support departmental and hospital clinical/financial needs.
- Ensures verification and eligibility procedures are followed prior to patient visit. Provides patients with information needed to prepare for appointment per Center/Service protocol.
FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Works in partnership with the revenue cycle team and other departments to ensure the correct information and registration is complete and accurate prior to the patient visiting Houston Methodist for services.
- Obtains and enters accurate scheduling and registration data, including but not limited to patient demographics, insurance, guarantor, and clinical information on the information system in order to initiate financial clearance activities (benefit eligibility and verification, pre-certification notification and payment review). Documents patient’s accounts with information related to any potential issue(s) that could result in service delays or cancellations due to the lack of financial clearance.

At Houston Methodist, the Human Resources (HR) Representative position is responsible for providing day-to-day human resources support and is the generally the first point of contact for general inquires in the department which includes phone calls, greeting visitors, as well as parking, where appropriate, delivering exceptional customer service assistance. The HR Representative position conducts intake of information, supports the onboarding process, forms processing, and data entry which requires a high degree of accuracy and compliance with Houston Methodist policies and regulatory agencies. EDUCATION

EXPERIENCE
- One year customer service or a combination of human resources, and/or other professional experience. May consider Houston Methodist volunteer experience as customer service experience
- Hospital experience preferred
