- Possesses a thorough knowledge of aseptic technique and its application.
- Assists in obtaining and organizing supplies and instruments prior, during and after surgical procedure.
- Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
- Assists Registered Nurse circulator in preparation of patient, assembly of supplies, instruments, equipment, and proper disposition of all specimens; assists with all aspects of room turnover.
- Assigned to heightened specialized procedures: neurosurgery and spine, cardiothoracic, vascular, complex orthopedics, and robotics.
- Performs duties according to department policy and procedure.
- Monitors surgical supplies and instrumentation for sterility prior to use and ensures that supplies are used in a judicious manner, charges are documented/submitted accurately and appropriately.
- Monitors and documents sterilization activities for completion.
- Attends in-services/staff meetings; exhibits knowledge of current department related issues and participates in Performance Improvement Process.
- Participates in educational opportunities to increase competency and meet personal needs and goals.
- Assists in the development of policies, procedures, and standards.
- Serves as a preceptor, and a clinical resource to others.
- Assumes responsibility for individual specified unit clinical projects and oversees service lines as needed.
Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology required or successful completion of military training program for Surgical Technology or Operating Room Specialist.
- Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider required.
- Current certification through NBSTSA or NCCT required.
- 5 years of total operating room experience in surgical technologist role required; 2 years of specialized training in one of the following areas, neurosurgery, and spine, cardiothoracic, vascular, complex ortho, and robotics required.
- Meets all ST III qualifications of Surgical Tech Ladder.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to respond to age-specific issues and data reflective of the patient's status.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Works with occasional intermittent noise and exposure to conditions such as dust, fumes, and chemicals.
- Ability to communication and write.
- Strenuous physical effort will require walking, stretching, bending, climbing stairs, twisting, and squatting or kneeling while performing tasks.
- May have lengthy periods of standing.
- Requires frequent use of side vision, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
- Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds.
- Use of both hands and all fingers and is required to use hands for gripping, speed work and precision during the operation equipment/instruments and movement/positioning of surgical patients.
- Vision and hearing for distances of up to twenty 20 feet is required, depth perception and able to distinguish basic colors is required.
- Ability to work for lengthy, or irregular work hours, rotating shifts, working on hard surfaces, being near moving equipment, changes in temperature, humidity, and exposure to Blood Borne Pathogens.

Receives, stores and issues supplies, including identification, counts and processes issued supply documents. Performs routine functions necessary in the issue of storage boxes and delivery of supplies, materials and similar related activities.
Essential Functions
- Processes transactions accurately and timely as a result of the receiving of physical goods from suppliers, or returned goods from customer departments, stock replenishments or the filling of customer orders.
- Executes transactions inside the management system, and utilizes both PC and RF scanner technologies to process transactions accurately.
- Reviews and verifies all documentation used throughout the process to ensure thoroughness and accuracy.
- Operates all powered and non-powered equipment in a safe manner and transports and stores all goods in a safe manner to prevent damage to the goods.
- Supervises the receiving and distribution of equipment and supplies.
- Ensures that equipment and supplies are handled, stored and maintained in secure environment.
- Removes non-functional equipment and supplies from service and reports problems to the proper department(s) for corrective action.
- Inspects working and storage areas and ensures clean and orderly conditions.
- Works safely; complies with all department, the System and OSHA safety regulations, as well as performs good housekeeping.
- Completes and submits daily the inspection checklist when using any powered piece of equipment (if required by department.)
Ability to work in the patient care areas independently, often under stressful conditions. Ability to support multiple function areas during the shift. Requires lengthy periods of standing and walking. Frequently requires sitting, stooping and stretching to perform job duties. Requires frequent pushing and/or pulling of equipment and supplies. $38.20 - $57.30Major Responsibilities:- Competently operates ultrasound equipment to perform general, vascular and/or cardiac procedures/studies. Accurately differentiates between normal and pathologic findings.
- Reviews patient's medical record to obtain necessary clinical information including patient history, lab results, and physician orders, obtains necessary clinical information from patients, and compares requisitions to physicians' orders to ensure exam accuracy.
- Positions patient and selects proper transducer and technical factors for accurate ultrasound procedures. Adjusts factors to attain the appropriate images. Ensures safety, mental and physical comfort of patient.
- Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
- Accurately identifies and labels images identifying patient name, medical record unit (MRU) number, and location or position of scan on all images.
- Maintains records in accordance with various regulatory agencies and enters patient and study information into the radiology information system, and documents billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.
- Identifies equipment performance issues, communicates to appropriate staff, and evaluates new products and equipment for possible future use.
- Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

This position is part of Clinical Care Operations, which is the hub of patient management for the campus, including bed assignment, unit staffing, house supervision, emergency preparedness (code events and internal disasters), and patient transports. You will support the clinical needs of multiple units throughout the hospital (Progressive Care, Med/Surg, Outpatient Observation, and more).
POSITION SUMMARY

This role would support ongoing Quality Management Program development and execution.
