DO NOT POST AS NEW REQUnder the direction of the appropriate licensed clinician, and in keeping with unit specific standards, provides patient care to meet the personal needs and comfort of patients; and assists members of the healthcare team. In order to become a PCT II a caregiver must meet the full competencies outlined by the Nursing Professional Practice.
As an integral member of the patient care team, serves both internal and external customers including patients, nurses, physicians and other colleagues who support the delivery of care and services.
I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients. Examples, but not limited to changes in skin condition, vital signs, and/or mental status.
2. Provides constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse or designee.
3. Participates in the development and maintenance of a safe environment. Works to utilize interventions to de-escalate patients and if unsuccessful participates in restraints in accordance with training and education as directed.
4. Assists patient with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, ambulating, meals and nourishment.
5. Assists in moving, lifting, positioning and transporting patients by utilizing proper safety techniques and body mechanics in all work-related activities.
6. Maintains patient safety by performing patient safety checks, utilizing fall prevention alternative devices/strategies as directed, and following the Restraint Policy standards when caring for a restrained patient.
7. Takes and records vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure and pulse oxymetry). Measures and records patients’ height and weight.
8. Performs EKG’s, performs Point of Care (POC) tests and bladder scanning according to hospital standards. Collects, labels and prepares specimens for transport to lab.
9. Phlebotomy in certain locations.
10. Performs other selected unit specific procedures such as battery changes for telemetry units, checking status of unit equipment, cleaning equipment between patients and proper storage of supplies.
11. Assists RN/Licensed Independent Practitioner with treatments and procedures by preparing patient; obtaining and setting up equipment and supplies, such as intravenous and hemodynamic lines, and utilize sterile technique when indicated. Help in positioning the patient and providing the patient with emotional support. Clean up equipment and supplies following the treatment and/or procedure.
12. Observes, measures, records oral food and fluid intake. Sets up full strength tube feeding solutions and refills tube feeding bags as directed. Empties and records output, as approved, from a variety of sources, e.g., Foley catheter, ostomy appliances and drainage systems. Performs ostomy care on established ostomate patients as directed.
13. Demonstrates sensitivity and responsiveness to patients’ needs by acting as a source of information and approaches all interactions with the intention of building positive rapport and relationships.
14. Provides respectful, culturally and age-appropriate communication with patients, staff, family, visitors and others.
15. Replenishes patient and unit supplies and equipment.
16. Requests assistance from identified resources when more direction is needed.
17. Keeps current with hospital and unit changes by reading communication boards and/or books, bulletin boards, posted notices and reads and responds to UMMHC e mails on a regular basis.
18. Has the ability to precept new Patient Care Technicians.

1. Minimum of a high school education or GED.
2. Current Basic Life Support.
Experience/Skills:

1. Demonstrated competency attainment in the Patient Care Technician I level, work a minimum of 800 hours and at least 6 months as a PCT I or 6 months of prior inpatient/outpatient direct patient care experience.
2. Ability to read, write and communicate in English in a clear and concise manner.
3. Medical Terminology.
4. Computer skills.
5. Strong interpersonal skills to gather information from individuals, build relationships that support collaborative work within the department and across the organization and provide exceptional service to patients.
6. Must have proven problem-solving abilities for routine situations.
7. Must be able to remain calm when under stress or in emergency situations.
Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
III. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:
Position requires work indoors in a patient care environment.
Hand dexterity, hearing and vision ability to take direction from a patient or provider, adjust equipment, observe and describe patient observations. Must be able to lift, up to 50 pounds. Work is of heavy demand, standing and walking most of the time with the possibility of pushing heavy equipment and bending frequently.

This position provides support to nursing management in overall day-to-day coordination of staffing needs for individual patient care areas and is directly responsible for identifying the daily needs and changes in staffing and communicates to appropriate individuals. Manages the input of data in the electronic scheduling system. Manages the daily operations related to the use of the scheduling system. This position maintains the time and attendance records, processes the weekly payroll, makes manual edits on the payroll sheets, and communicates with the Payroll department. Maintains good interpersonal, intra/interdepartmental relationships by his/her use of communications systems and personal contact.I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Identifies staffing needs and confers with appropriate managers throughout the day.
2. Responsible for the accurate entry in the automated scheduling system: Enters all new hires into the Controller. and Scheduler. Updates monthly and daily schedules, manages and prints daily staffing sheets, sign-in sheets. Posts staffing needs lists.
3. Compiles daily staffing information and discusses with the appropriate manager or director.
4. Participates in daily Patient Flow bed meeting “huddles”.
5. Makes calls to fill staffing needs. Validates constant observation needs and communicates with charge nurses any changes in staffing needs.
6. Identifies overtime staffing and participates in reduction of expenses.
7. In conjunction with the Managers, identifies and maintains staffing allocations and staffing needs to meet patient volume and acuity and to meet budgetary goals.
8. Coordinates payroll data entry, completion of automated time card and People Soft sheets.
9. Functions as a “superuser” with automated scheduling system.
10. Enters personnel data and new hire information into the scheduling system.
11. Compiles productivity reports, attendance calendars, and overtime reports.
12. Distributes reports to Finance Dept. and the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
13. Provides training with automated scheduling system for new nurse managers, nursing supervisors and administrative assistants.
14. Validates accuracy of schedules and provides daily staffing reports to the off-shift nursing supervisors.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
With direct supervision, the Radiology Authorization Specialist:
- Reviews and monitors all radiology authorization work queues and independently identifies and prioritizes imaging procedures with the greatest financial reimbursement risk.
- Reprioritizes work to respond to clinically urgent diagnostic imaging procedures and produces high quality work under pressure.
- Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits, utilizing automated eligibility systems, payer portals, or telephone communication.
- Prepares and completes payer-specific prior authorization requests, interprets medical policy criteria, and applies appropriate guidelines to prior authorization requests.
- Reviews and comprehends patient progress notes, lab reports, infusion summaries, imaging reports, and plan of care. Identifies appropriate medical documentation to satisfy payer medical policy criteria.
- Responds to health plan-reviewed prior authorization requests that do not meet initial policy criteria. Works with the health plan to resolve issues and/or coordinates appropriate provider-to-health plan interventions (e.g., peer-to-peer discussions, letters of medical necessity, provider-initiated appeals, etc.).
- Follows-up with patients in the case of denied coverage of a radiology exam. Provides superior customer service to all patients, works through patient-raised issues, and recommends appropriate solutions.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Under minimal supervision will perform the following:
1. Provide knowledgeable and skilled general administrative support primarily to Vice President(s) and above or a comparable level executive. Responsibilities to include:
a. Advanced communications support,
b. Proactively triaging issues as they arise and determining appropriate action in response to inquiries,
c. Act as designee of leader in specified areas as directed.
2. Complex calendar management of senior executives and anticipating conflicts before they arise.
3. Assist executive(s) in preparing presentations as needed; ensure room reservations and A/V equipment is set-up appropriately for VP or SVP hosted meeting.
4. Collaborate with leadership, HR, and hiring managers to manage and execute a smooth process for requirement and onboarding new hires.
5. Work with leaders to track departmental workforce, i.e., employees, contractors, consultants, and keep organizational charts updated and compiled.
6. May be responsible for managing in person events, ensuring there are appropriate speakers, hosts, and catering arranged.
7. Coordinate department events, retreats, leadership meetings and other group meetings with internal and external entities.
8. Prepare documents and correspondence that may be highly confidential or politically sensitive in nature.
9. Book complex domestic and/or international travel itineraries.
10. Attend administrative leadership team meetings as requested, ensuring these meetings have identified facilitators, agendas, and that action items are recorded and followed up on.
11. May process invoices to ensure vendors are paid in a timely fashion, assign proper budget codes and coordinate reimbursements.
12. Oversee department purchasing cards, online reconciliation, statement and receipts submission to Accounts Payable in a timely manner.
13. Process various requisitions, purchase orders, personnel and other forms needed for the department’s administration.
14. May provide oversight of operational/administrative functions to department managers, including maintaining SOPs and educating staff as needed.
15. Maintain a high-level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality regarding a variety of highly sensitive topics.
16. Help to improve workflow, operating efficiency, and service quality within the department.
17. May provide mentorship, supervision, or management to junior administrative staff.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

This position reports to the Manager, Ambulatory Operations or designated management and is responsible for supervising employees and activities for the efficient administration of the clinic. The supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the resources including but not limited to, patient registration, scheduling, clinic flow, charge capture, and referring physician relations. The supervisor ensures and performs administrative support services for a physician leader, manager or similar position.I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Assures the efficient daily operations of the clinic, including appropriate staffing, appropriate use of supplies, workflow and productivity.
2. Ensures efficient patient registration and the scheduling of medical procedures for both inpatients and outpatients. Coordinates with hospital admitting, the O.R., diagnostic & therapeutic areas, pre-surgical evaluation, and other patient care areas as necessary.
3. Monitors the scheduling process to ensure highest quality customer service. Participates in interdepartmental multidisciplinary performance improvement initiatives to improve the scheduling process. Develops and recommends improvements in systems, schedules and procedures. Demonstrates the use of quality improvement in daily operations.
4. Maximizes utilization of session time by manipulating daily schedules to achieve the greatest potential for patient volume.
5. Monitors workflow and productivity to evaluate office performance. Takes corrective action to ensure the efficient and effective workflow.
6. Assesses patient flow as well as develops and maintains systems and processes to assure efficient flow.
7. Ensures that appropriate patient information is gathered at the point of registration, and updated as appropriate, and physician ‘s schedules are accurately incorporated. Monitors the registration process to ensure high quality customer service.

9. Oversees the collection of patient co-payments.
10. Oversees and monitors the weekly departmental payroll in Kronos as assigned.
11. Ensures adequate inventory of office supplies and the basic maintenance of office equipment. Re-orders and coordinates with purchasing, vendors, as required. Coordinates efforts for basic facilities maintenance activities as needed.
12. Maintains effective liaison with clinic management. As required, works collaboratively with a variety of staff and management in various departments and functions such as patient accounts, registration, health information management, information services, human resources, radiology etc. to address issues. Works with the leadership team to identify and coordinate the resolution of a variety of administrative issues.
13. Creates a team focused environment by coordinating clerical and clinical staff to ensure quality patient care. Conducts employee meetings as needed.
14. Ensures the efficient greeting of patients and visitors. Fosters quality customer service.
15. Ensures efficient processes to support billing, on-site charge entry processes, the collection of co-payments from patients and daily cash deposit etc. Ensure electronic encounter forms are processed per policy.
16. Ensures the efficient set-up, maintenance, filing and retrieval of medical records. Sets up and maintains extremely sensitive confidential information.
17. May act as a liaison with building management to assure productive work environment including office cleaning, security, safety, and parking. Resolves patient complaints as required.

Responsible for the planning, delivery and management of direct patient care utilizing the nursing process and adhering to the standards of nursing practice.I. Major Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Senior Director/Director and in conjunction with the Medical Director, the Manager is responsible for strategic plan execution, daily planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating daily activities. Job Description
I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Ensure that caregivers adhere to system policies and procedures for clinical care standards.
2. Coordinates clinical practice and deployment of resources at the unit level to ensure ongoing implementation of processes and adherence to standards.
3. Develops Scope of Service and Plan of Care for the identified area. Submits to senior leadership for approval.
4. Assists caregivers with the development of a cohesive, service-oriented team, and serves as a role model, mentor, coach/facilitator.
5. Monitors competence of caregivers and ensures education to complete required competencies. Monitors continuing education participation.
6. Conducts daily patient care rounds, assessing patient care requirements and monitoring nursing and ancillary caregiver performance to achieve safe, cost effective and quality patient care.
7. Directs the oversight of clinical practice through continuity of patient care assignments to optimize the patient plan of care.
8. Ensures a plan of care is established, coordinated, and delivered to each patient and family.
9. Creates and sustains a collaborative, patient-focused environment supporting excellence in clinical and service practices.
10. Delegates appropriate responsibilities to others.
11. Ensures a positive work environment that is safe for patients, visitors, and staff.

Operations:

10. Articulates patient care standards as published by Joint Commission, CMS and other regulatory agencies.
Leadership/Management/Human Resources:
1. Assesses candidates, through behavioral and peer interviewing, for appropriate positions within the unit/clinic and makes recommendations for hire, transfers, promotions and/or other staff changes.
2. Provides oversight of all caregivers including completion of specific performance reviews. Ensures performance evaluations are completed for caregivers timely according to HR policies.
3. Assures appropriate orientation, competence assessment, in-service training, and continuing education for all caregivers.
4. Ensures the proper documentation for recruiting, on-boarding, evaluating, and terminating caregivers are completed timely and thoroughly. (i.e. position requisition, orientation checklist, separation).
5. Assures licensing certification for all caregivers are current.
6. Leads and influences the development of caregivers by creating a practice climate of responsiveness and learning which supports retention and recruitment of competent staff.
7. Coaches and supports caregivers by removing barriers and addressing issues. Consults with management regarding issues as necessary.
8. Promotes communication and feedback through regularly scheduled caregiver meetings and other venues.
9. Maintains current knowledge of labor and employment laws impacting caregivers in own unit/clinic and/or those that impact areas across the medical center. Maintains knowledge of current union contracts within own area of responsibility.
10. Establishes a climate for open communication and builds relationships at all levels of the organization.
11. Develops, implements, and updates recognition initiatives valued by the unit/clinic.
12. Facilitates staff attendance at in-service programs, teaching opportunities, staff meetings and rounding.
13. Uses tools such as employee surveys to measure staff morale with a focus toward recognition and developing action plans for improvements.
Budgetary Planning and Financial Performance:
1. Collaborates with Finance and leadership to develop annual departmental budgets based on established patient care indicators, projected volumes, and patient populations.
2. Maintains cost effective staffing patterns based on approved staffing budgets.
3. Demonstrates fiscal responsibility via monitoring of salaries and supply expenses, prepares and submits variance reports. Develops and implements corrective action.
4. Identify capital needs for assigned units.
Quality, Safety and Experience Improvements:
1. Links departmental goals to organizational goals and strategic plans.
2. Actively coordinates clinical quality improvement and safety efforts on the unit/clinic with defined medical center quality and safety goals.
3. Creates and sustains an environment that encourages feedback, problem-solving, self-evaluation and innovation as the way work is accomplished and improvements achieved.
4. Actively seeks information about the underlying needs of patients, families, and employees and seeks to match those needs.
II. Position Qualifications:

Under the direct supervision of a supervisor/manager/pharmacist performs medication related tasks such as packaging, preparation of all forms of medications, record keeping, and all aspects of drug distribution. Assists in the transportation and handling of chemotherapy and controlled substances.Major Responsibilities:
- Processes and releases orders using pharmacy dispense queue.
- Oncology order set up through gathering drug, diluent, base solution, tubing, filters, labels, as well as anything else required for compounding.
- Delivers patient medications to patient’s rooms and medication room areas.
- Maintains inventory, reorders, restocks, and monitors expiration dates of all medications in the pharmacy as well as floor stock medication provided via Pyxis.
5. Familiar with pharmacy technology and equipment. Capable of troubleshooting technical problems. - Prepares and packages all forms of medications.
- Maintains required documentation in accordance with regulatory and hospital requirements and maintains respect for patient confidentiality.
- Generates necessary pharmacy reports.
- Conducts medication room inspections in assigned patient care area in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Assembles drugs in an accurate and efficient manner.
- Repackages bulk drugs and supplies into units of use containers.
- Maintains a clean work area and assists in quality indicator monitoring.
- Assists with yearly inventory in assigned areas.

Under the direction of the appropriate licensed clinician, and in keeping with unit specific standards, provides patient care to meet the personal needs and comfort of patients; and assists members of the healthcare team. In order to become a PCT II a caregiver must meet the full competencies outlined by the Nursing Professional Practice.As an integral member of the patient care team, serves both internal and external customers including patients, nurses, physicians and other colleagues who support the delivery of care and services.
I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients. Examples, but not limited to changes in skin condition, vital signs, and/or mental status.
2. Provides constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse or designee.
3. Participates in the development and maintenance of a safe environment. Works to utilize interventions to de-escalate patients and if unsuccessful participates in restraints in accordance with training and education as directed.
4. Assists patient with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, ambulating, meals and nourishment.
5. Assists in moving, lifting, positioning and transporting patients by utilizing proper safety techniques and body mechanics in all work-related activities.
6. Maintains patient safety by performing patient safety checks, utilizing fall prevention alternative devices/strategies as directed, and following the Restraint Policy standards when caring for a restrained patient.
7. Takes and records vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure and pulse oxymetry). Measures and records patients’ height and weight.
8. Performs EKG’s, performs Point of Care (POC) tests and bladder scanning according to hospital standards. Collects, labels and prepares specimens for transport to lab.
9. Phlebotomy in certain locations.
10. Performs other selected unit specific procedures such as battery changes for telemetry units, checking status of unit equipment, cleaning equipment between patients and proper storage of supplies.
11. Assists RN/Licensed Independent Practitioner with treatments and procedures by preparing patient; obtaining and setting up equipment and supplies, such as intravenous and hemodynamic lines, and utilize sterile technique when indicated. Help in positioning the patient and providing the patient with emotional support. Clean up equipment and supplies following the treatment and/or procedure.
12. Observes, measures, records oral food and fluid intake. Sets up full strength tube feeding solutions and refills tube feeding bags as directed. Empties and records output, as approved, from a variety of sources, e.g., Foley catheter, ostomy appliances and drainage systems. Performs ostomy care on established ostomate patients as directed.
13. Demonstrates sensitivity and responsiveness to patients’ needs by acting as a source of information and approaches all interactions with the intention of building positive rapport and relationships.
14. Provides respectful, culturally and age-appropriate communication with patients, staff, family, visitors and others.
15. Replenishes patient and unit supplies and equipment.
16. Requests assistance from identified resources when more direction is needed.
17. Keeps current with hospital and unit changes by reading communication boards and/or books, bulletin boards, posted notices and reads and responds to UMMHC e mails on a regular basis.
18. Has the ability to precept new Patient Care Technicians.

III. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:
Position requires work indoors in a patient care environment.
Hand dexterity, hearing and vision ability to take direction from a patient or provider, adjust equipment, observe and describe patient observations. Must be able to lift, up to 50 pounds. Work is of heavy demand, standing and walking most of the time with the possibility of pushing heavy equipment and bending frequently.
