· Under limited supervision, the Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing patients, including developing, evaluating, and modifying the care plan. The RN interprets and performs complex patient-care procedures specific to their expertise.
· RNs are members of the Care Team and Support Team and have accountability to function as a team to accomplish patient outcomes identified in the pathway/plan of care.
· The Registered Nurse is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for the care given to a group of patients for a designated time frame.
· The RN provides care to those patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/technology, and other healthcare team members, according to established standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
· A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia.
· Graduation from an accredited nursing education program approved by the Board of Nursing or found by the Board to be substantially equivalent to the programs in Georgia.
· Successful completion of a refresher course within the past 6 months if nursing practice has not occurred within the past 5 years.
· Prior experience in Cardiac Care preferred or prior PACU, Critical Care. Must be BLS and ACLS certified thru the American Heart Association.

This position requires excellent communication skills as a liaison between the physician, cath lab staff and patients.Under the direction and review of a physician, the nurse provides patient care requiring the performance of general medical services in conformance with professional standards and regulations. Acting as a nurse demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to assure assessment, treatment, and care is appropriate to the age of the patients served. According to established protocols, assesses the patients’ health care status and needs and provides patient care to as directed by the physician. Provides counseling and education to patients in order to enhance patient care. Documents care provided in order to support the continuity of patient care and optimum patient outcomes. Care provided is appropriate for all patients. Performs other duties within job scope as requested. Current State license for Registered Nurse is required. Completion of Nursing Program at accredited institution is required. 2-3 years physician office experience preferred but not necessary.

Examines requests and verifies orders on each assigned patient. Refers and questions orders to the Radiologist before performing exam. Contacts ordering provider when there are discrepancies.
Properly identify(Using two patient identifiers) and assist patients while offering a brief explanation of the procedures. Prepares patients for the procedure with a full explanation and documents on appropriate worksheets.
Interviews patients for a complete medical history. Reviews in-patients, ER, and outpatients EMR’s to obtain pertinent clinical history. Records medical history on requisitions. Correlates other test results and laboratory data with exam being performed.
Assumes responsibility for the exam from beginning of exam until completion of dictated results.
Prepares and administers IV contrast according to departmental protocols. On request, records contrast type and amount.
Evaluates technical quality of images and consults with a Radiologist if needed. Recognizes abnormal anatomy and processes any additional, reconstructed images, and/or measurements as instructed.
Performs basic patient care functions. Informsappropriate nursing personnel of any changes in the patient’s condition. Initiates life support measures for patients when necessary. Assists in “code blue” procedures during medical emergencies.
Performs CT scanning and assists Radiologist/PA during invasive procedures. Practices proper sterile technique in the preparation of necessary supplies. Performs all invasive procedures in accordance with bloodborne pathogens, isolation, and infection control policies and procedures.
Is authorized to obtain medication or contrast material as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner.
Practices principle of radiation safety for self, employees, patients and family members. Follows appropriate radiation safety standards.
Reports malfunctioning equipment to the department director/manager/supervisor and clinical engineering/radiology engineer precautions. Maintains knowledge and skills required to work safely in an environment that can create significant exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious disease.
Adheres to the hospital fire and safety procedures. Attends all in-service classes and completes all required safety modules.

Education

Certification / License

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment and supplies. Occasional standing, walking, and sitting during normal operation. He or she may be required to extract carpeted surfaces, clean upholstery, or bonnet carpets throughout any of CGHS’s facilities.
He or she is responsible for reporting any hazards to a Supervisor, as well as placing Wet Floor Signs in a manner that is easily recognizable to any patient, visitor or fellow employee when doing any sort of maintenance on any floor surface. These signs are to be placed in a manner that directs traffic to the safe part of a floor or corridor.
He or she may be required to assist with setups throughout the hospital, but especially in the Trice Conference Center or West Tower. Additionally, he or she may be asked to help with minor moves at any of CGHS’s facilities at the direction of the Supervisor. He or she may be required to transport large items to the Macon City Landfill on occasion when these items cannot be disposed of via the compactors.
The Environmentalist II will be an important part of the team who prepares new projects for opening. He or she will be required to prepare all floor surfaces for traffic on a given schedule.

When working anywhere on CGHS properties, he or she is expected to report any maintenance items that need the attention of the Facilities Management Department to his or her Supervisor for follow up. The Environmentalist II is required to police the grounds for debris, trash and cigarette butts both around his or her assigned area, but also anywhere on the hospital grounds.
He or she is expected to always utilize equipment in as safe a manner as possible, including placement of electrical cords and use of other protective equipment, such as no-slide shoes. Additionally, it is the expectation that all equipment is returned to the Equipment Room in clean and working order. He or she is responsible for making on-the-spot decisions regarding what materials are safe to be disposed of, and what is not. Additionally, when disposing of biohazardous waste, he or she is responsible for effectively and efficiently packaging this material so that the most cost-effective and safe weight is achieved. When transporting biohazardous waste, the employee should correctly package this He or she is required to make several rounds of the MCCG facility each shift in order to remove the refuse from the patient units. He or she is also directed to use large rolling bins (with closed tops) in order to transport the refuse. The employee will also be required to move cardboard throughout the facility in order to have it recycled. This material should also be moved regularly throughout the day to the cardboard compactor material and handle it according to safety standards when moving it throughout the hospital, as well as preparing it for shipment.

Alerts physicians of cases needing review and/or discussion.
