Work Shift:
Day - 12 Hour (United States of America)7:00am - 7:00pm (36 Weekly Hours)Provides patient care under the supervision of the Staff Nurse to include but not limited to assisting with ADLs specimen collection, transportation of patients, patient preparation for procedures, collection of vital signs and unit specific procedures and tasks which require documented competencies. Responsible for fulfillment of Emory Healthcare mission, values, and quality commitment. Participates as a team member to ensure appropriate resources are available to all internal and external customers.
Education & Training:
High School diploma or GED equivalent. Graduate of an approved State
Technical College program in patient care assisting, licensed practical nursing,
emergency medical technician or paramedic or currently enrolled in and
participating in the clinical portion of a nursing degree program. Education/training (except for HS diploma or GED equivalent) may be waived
with experience listed below.
Experience:
Two (2) years’ experience as a patient care tech (or similar title) in a hospital.
Hospital experience may be substituted with Two (2) years patient care assisting experience in other health care facilities and a GA Certified Nursing Assistant certification or Two (2) years’ experience as a medical technician or hospital corpsman in the U.S. Armed Forces. Current enrollment in clinical portion of a nursing program eliminates experience requirement.
Required Certification/Registration/Licensure:
Current AHA/ARC BLS certification. Completion of the Rhythm Interpretation
Course CLEP test or classroom course or obtained within 3 months. Current
PEARS (Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization) or
obtained within (9) nine months of hire. CPT training within 9 months of hire.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Medical terminology, hospital professional services, documentation and various
departmental responsibilities, anatomy & physiology, infection control, vital
signs, medical records (charting and obtaining health histories), assistance with
physical exams, specimen collection, patient focused care, dressing changes
(clean & sterile).

Work Shift:
Day - 12 Hour (United States of America)(7:00am - 7:00pm / 7:00pm - 7:00am)The nursing student is responsible for providing nursing assistance and performing basic nursing procedures to groups of patients with assigned nursing department, under the supervision, guidance and direction a registered nurse.
In addition, the nursing assistant can gain additional clinical practice to enhance their preparation as future licensed nurse responsibilities, under the continuous direct on-sire supervision of a register nurse( for nursing care beyond that performed by nursing assistants once deemed competent for nursing assistant related tasks); interprets plan of medical care and provides input on the nursing care plan and assist in the following provided they have been deemed clinical competent by nursing instructor.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
1. Provides personal care including baths, shampoo, shave, back rub, position changes, makes beds, prepares patients for meals, feeds patients, and passes ice water.
2. Answers call lights and bells promptly to meet patient needs.
3. Collects specimens, stool, urine, sputum, etc.
4. Collects inputs and output and records appropriately.
5. Collects and records temperature and vital signs on patient.
6. Obtain and records pertinent information per hospital policy.
7. Assess presence and extent of pain of patient and family information with RN and understand what steps to alleviate.
8. Assist and/or feeds patients, provides between meal nourishments, provides fresh drinking water and encourages fluids when indicated.
9. Assist in progressive ambulation of patients by gate belt, wheelchair, stretcher and bed.
10. Administers enemas and douches as indicated and documents appropriately.
11. Operates converter chair, lifts, scales, beds, stretchers, and wheelchairs.
12. Applies ace bandages, ted hose and elastic stockings, and sequential compression devices.
13. Assist with oxygen support and incentive spirometer.
14. Assist RN with restraint devices and side rails to ensure safety of patient.
15. Observes isolation techniques and provide direct care to patients in isolation.
16. May serve as a patient sitter.
17. Assist in ostomy care and education.
18. Set up orthopedic appliances.
19. Performs nursing functions requiring skills and judgement (supervised by RN).
20. Maintains and records and reports necessary information in regard to patient care.
21. Confers periodically, with RN on activities of the nursing staff and matters that relate to patient care.
22. Assist in patient and family education by the RN.
23. Serves as a liaison between the patient and other members of the health care team.
24. Prepares patient for surgery and other therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
25. Maintains a safe environment for patient care.
Administrative Support:
1. Greets visitors, answers telephone, screen calls, and takes appropriate information and messages and distributes to appropriate employee to meet the caller's needs.
2. Maintains clerical and related unit supplies, places orders and replenish stock.
Team Participation:
1. Attends bedside report, daily huddle, and inter-disciplinary rounds.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Experience: One year of experience which includes direct patient care, OR the successful completion of a nursing assistant training course, or currently enrolled in an accredited BSN RN or Associate RN program and completion of 1 clinical rotation.
Certifications: BLS certification
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience: Clerical experience and experience with various computer applications preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (Light 1-10 lbs): 0-33% of the work day (occasionally), negligible 34-66% of the workday (frequently), negligible 67-100% of the workday (constantly). Lifting 10 lbs max, carrying of small articles such as dockets, ledgers, files, small tools, occasional standing & walking, frequent sitting, close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
Education / Experience:
1. *Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), AND
A. 12 months of recent nursing experience within the past five years, OR
B. Recent completion of a re-entry nursing program.
OR,
2. Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with a minimum of 2 years of recent nursing experience within the past five years
Exceptions:
1. *Current LPNs employed within the Emory Healthcare (EHC) system who have completed an accredited RN program and obtain RN licensure are eligible to transition into this role while completing the RN Resident Program.
2. Emory LPNs enrolled in an Emory ADN program as of 3/30/2025 must sign an obligation agreement to complete an ADN-to-BSN program within two years of entering the RN Clinician role.
3. Emory Warner Robins, Perry and affiliated Physician Groups location RN Clinicians with an Associate's Degree in Nursing with less than 2 years experience as a new hire or transferring as of 3/29/2026, must sign an obligation agreement to complete an ADN-to-BSN program within two years of entering the RN Clinician role.
Licensure: A valid, unencumbered Registered Nursing License approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing.
Certification:
1. BLS certification
2. ACLS may be required for certain departments, post hire
3. Additional certifications may be required based on department and specialty
4. If completing virtual care activities that may include multi-state practice, an active compact/multistate license (eNLC) is required within 60 days of hire. Employees in role prior to 11/09/2025 will have until their next renewal date to achieve compact status.
5. If hired into a Wound Care Dept., completion of an accredited WOC Nursing Education program is required. Must achieve certification in Wound Care and Ostomy Care within 12 months of entering the role.

Pay Range: $17.58 – $23.85
Pay is based on experience, skills and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.

Position Summary
