The Labor and Delivery Unit at Atrium Health Cabarrus provides exceptional care to families throughout our region, offering a supportive and compassionate environment for both low- and high-risk births. Our unit features 5 OB triage rooms, 13 labor rooms, and 2 obstetrical operating rooms, and we proudly welcome approximately 3,000 babies each year. We are fully staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with an in-house Laborist, continuous anesthesia coverage, and access to Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists and a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This structure allows us to provide safe, seamless care for mothers and babies at every stage. We offer a thorough orientation program designed to support nurses who are eager to grow their skills in perinatal and women’s health nursing. Expectations We’re Looking For:
Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
What You’ll Do:
• As a skilled and compassionate RN, you will play a pivotal role in providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
• Using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skills communication while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members.
Essential Functions
- Assess: Performs appropriate assessment of physical, social, and psychological status (including cognitive, communicative, and developmental skills as appropriate). Seeks and evaluates information acquired from other members of interdisciplinary team: patient, family, physician, non-nursing disciplines, support staff, others.
- Plan: Uses assessment information and critical thinking skills to collaboratively develop individualized plan of care. Actively seeks patient, family, team, and physician involvement to develop plan of care including needed education. Collaboratively plans and prepares patients for further support needs once the current episode of care outcomes are met (i.e., teaching, referrals, and follow-up).
- Implement: Directs the interdisciplinary care team via delegation, coordination, and collaboration as appropriate. Provides or delegates care consistent with plan of care, guidelines of care and professional licensure provisions. Demonstrates the ability to set priorities and to coordinate and organize patient care delivery through effectively managing time, supplies, and resources.
- Evaluate: Evaluates patient response to interventions through review of achievement of goals, clinical outcomes, patient, and family satisfaction. Revises plan of care as indicated and reassesses changes as appropriate.
- Professionalism: Promotes nursing profession and participate in development of others. Minimum Qualifications
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in state of practice. Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of the start of employment.
- RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four (4) years of their hire date.
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.

Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
- For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

Under the Director of the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine (NSF-Piedmont Triad Regenerative Medicine Engine institutional PI), the person in the position will:
Maintain a regenerative medicine-based scientific, technological, and economic regenerative medicine ecosystem centered in north central applicable state. The ecosystem includes academic, business, government, and economic development, and non-profit partners representing research and development, translation, education and workforce development, regional outreach, and related regenerative medicine and related technology policy.
Connect ecosystem partners through established organized leadership bodies, and as appropriate (boards, councils, committees, etc.).
Oversee ecosystem collaborative planning, policy, and evaluation functions.
Supervise ecosystem-based, collaborative use-inspired research, development, and translation projects. R&D and translation efforts may include:
building capacity among academic, non-profit, and business collaborating partners in regenerative medicine;
convening collaborating partners to facilitate joint R&D/translation projects; and
connecting emerging businesses (start-up and early-stage growth companies) with a continuum of business development and growth opportunities and partners.
Supervise a regenerative medicine employer-driven workforce development program in R&D, translation, and production spanning the workforce continuum from technician to research scientist or manufacturing manager. Coordinate business development opportunities with technology transfer partners to develop joint business and product initiatives and establish or attract new and emerging companies to the ecosystem.
Lead resource development efforts to support the expansion and long-term sustainability of ecosystem efforts, seeking out competitive and non-competitive funding opportunities from government, industry, philanthropic, and other sources.
Serve as a liaison with public sector agencies, government officials, non-governmental organizations, industry, and the public to communicate the impact of regenerative medicine partnerships in the region and nationally.
Supervise the operational management of all budgets and reporting requirements for externally funded ecosystem projects.
A demonstrated commitment to broadening participation to ensure underrepresented populations have career opportunities in the regenerative medicine ecosystem.

Creates the initial electronic health record that serves as the foundation of the patient medical record that is utilized by all members of the healthcare team. Prevents creation of duplicate medical records that can cause treatment safety issues and billing problems. Follows and ensures compliance with the mandate of the organization’s accrediting bodies to use identifiers to positively identify a patient prior to the delivery of patient care to ensure patient safety.
Checks in and registers patients; obtains and verifies complete demographic, guarantor, and insurance information; discusses and collects co-pays and other out-of-pocket patient responsibilities. Obtaining accurate information at the point of registration helps ensure timely payment to the organization and prevents billing issues and patient complaints. Maintains complete confidentiality regarding patient personal/financial information and medical records in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Knows insurance basics and recognizes commercial and government plans. Understands which plans AAH contracts with and when a statement of financial responsibility is needed. Understands and discusses financial information and obligations with patients. Knows how and when to refer patients to Financial Advocates.
Has knowledge of which rules, forms and questions must be enforced to make sure AAH remains compliant with government agencies and regulations. Examples are: HIPAA, Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA), Consent for Treatment, Patient Rights and Responsibilities, Important Message from Medicare (IMM), Medicare Outpatient Observation Notice (MOON), Notice of Privacy Practices, Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire (MSPQ), Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN). Obtains patient or guarantor signatures as required.
May schedule patient appointments, including virtual and procedural; may also coordinate cancellations, reschedules, wait list requests, and recall requests. May provide accurate, detailed information regarding test preparations, patient arrival time, medication/food/beverage consumption guidelines, check-in procedures, directions to facility, etc. May perform visit closure, including checking out patients after their visit, scheduling follow-up appointment(s), and providing patients with the after-visit summary. May educate and support patients with the patient portal/app.
Creates a welcoming and professional environment for our patients and visitors by demonstrating extraordinary customer service. Greets patients and visitors and responds to routine requests for information. Answers telephone, screens calls, and takes messages. Maintains excellent public relations with patients, families, and clinical staff as well as demonstrates a willingness and ability to work collaboratively with others for concise and timely flow of information. Proactively communicates issues involving customer service and process improvement opportunities to management.Offers various assistance to patients to include: arranging transportation needs, providing directions, locating a wheelchair, coordinating interpreter services, etc. May be responsible for e-scanning documents to Health Information Management (HIM), addressing incoming/outgoing fax, addressing inbasket messages via the electronic health record, and following direction from the clinical team for emergent needs.

Help Facilitate Internal Aurora Transfers telephonically
Help Facilitate Non-Aurora Transfers telephonically, assessing documentation, MD triage, taking and entering orders
Will perform Tele Intake (telephonic or Video) assessments for patients in the ER that have a Behavioral Health Consult. Triage with appropriate on Call MD, along with taking and entering orders.
Take Triage calls telephonically for patients looking for inpatient to see if medical clearance is needed prior to the patient arriving to the hospital for an assessment.
On occasion preforming assessments for outpatient programs and triaging that assessment with the MD for recommended level of are and scheduling the patient for program
We’re Looking For:
Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
