What You’ll Do
Responsible for providing professional nursing care to clinic patients following established standards and practices. Assists physician and staff in coordinating patients care. Functions as primary liaison between patients, staff and physician.

AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers within 30 days.
Clinic Competency Assessment annually by transcript due date.
Current Missouri Registered Nurse license or current Registered Nurse license from a compact state. If a compact license is held, it must be in the nurse’s state of residence.

- Bachelor’s degree

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Participates in various activities related to employee relations to include conflict resolution, providing counseling to managers and staff of low to high complexity, and conducting interviews (follow-up, exit, focus group). Works with client managers and staff to coach, train and guide in regards to employee relations, policy interpretation, procedures, benefits, compensation, job description development, payroll, turnover, employee satisfaction, performance management, conflict resolution, and legal issues (e.g., FMLA, ADA, sexual harassment, etc.).
- Serves as a role model and mentors peers as needed. Recommends opportunities for improvement of department score for turnover/retention/employee engagement.
- Works in collaboration with HR colleagues around the system in other functional areas and/or entities on system initiatives.
- Consults with management regarding the assessment of performance improvement needs and the development of associated action plans.
SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Participates in the development and execution of strategies in collaboration with HR leadership, human resources staff and operations’ leadership to support business objectives, such as improving retention and employee satisfaction and meeting department and hospital strategic goals.
- Participates in client activities to build knowledge of the operational objectives and the culture of assigned workgroups. Attends client department meetings to give HR updates and receive updates on operational changes. Identifies opportunities and develops solutions for HR intervention to aid in the achievement of business goals.
- Supports management efforts in workforce planning in a proactive manner. Monitors trends such as turnover and time to fill to support clients with staffing challenges. Partners with recruitment colleagues and management groups to identify and remove barriers to filling positions. May participate directly in recruitment endeavors.
- Participates in the delivery of training related to new employee orientation, management education and supervisor skills development; training settings may include large class settings, small groups, and individual education. Identifies opportunities and makes recommendations for improving management skills.
QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Interprets human resources policy and procedures to employees and managers. Makes recommendations to HR Director and management on identified opportunities for policy, procedure, and process improvement. May develop policies and procedures. Provides education of new policies and procedures.
- Conducts investigations for a variety of issues to include EEOC charges, business practice complaints, and Texas Workforce Unemployment Claims. Identifies appropriate options for management/senior leadership consideration, makes recommendations as necessary, and writes summary reports to support employment-related business decisions.
- Proactively gathers and interprets data; identifies opportunities for improvement. Conducts workforce data analysis, prepares summary reports, and develops and recommends strategies and actions indicated by such data to improve HR metrics.
FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Explains compensation policy and recommendations to management to gain acceptance and understanding. Leads or participates in activities related to compensation such as job description development, providing counsel to management on compensation related issues, compensation analysis and development of recommendations. Advises management on handling crucial compensation conversations. Identifies business cases that support a modified compensation recommendation and partners with compensation colleagues for a joint solution.
- Uses resources efficiently; does not waste supplies. Self-motivated to independently manage time effectively and prioritize daily tasks, assisting coworkers as needed.
GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Summary:
Serves as resource and mentor for less experienced therapists providing care for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders.

Essential Functions
- Performs respiratory care procedures in response to patient needs and physician orders within the Scope of Practice of the Respiratory Care Department.
- Uses patient evaluation and information to perform an assessment of the cardiopulmonary status of assigned patients through physical exam, review of history and physical, and response to ordered therapies. Communicates the patient care plan to the Physician, patient, family, nursing, support staff, and others while maintaining a team focus.
- Independently performs the majority of procedures, assessments, and interventions performed at the facility including advanced settings (as applicable). Participates within Clinical Program initiatives and processes and monitors outcomes. Maintains awareness of assigned patient’s overall condition. Communicates and shares patient information with the physicians and nurses. Makes appropriate recommendations for patient care. Recognizes the educational needs of patients and families in relation to health promotion and wellness.
- Mentor and representative, both professional and clinical, of Respiratory Care Services. Supports and implements department or specialty care area projects or programs as identified. Supports standardization and implementation of department protocols, policies, and procedures for patient care delivery.
- Handles problems and concerns until they can be dealt with by clinical leadership or department management as applicable. Maintains, troubleshoots, and adjusts respiratory care equipment and diagnostic equipment.
- Maintains timely, accurate records and documentation to satisfy department, hospital, and legal requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned. May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need. May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.

Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of a NBRC approved Respiratory Therapist program. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.

- Maintain an advanced credential as approved by RCS leadership and Human Resources (e.g. ACCS, NPS, AE-C, SDS, CPFT, RPFT) for respiratory therapists in the Clinical Pathway.
- Current license for Respiratory Therapy in the state of practice is required Registered Respiratory.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers.
- Specific certifications as required (i.e. PALS, ACLS, NRP).

Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

highest standard of sterile technique and corrects any breaks in technique.
2 Participates in general cleaning, stocking and sterilization of instruments and supplies in the OR. According
to policy and procedure, maintains a clean and safe OR environment.
3 Assists in setting up the OR with supplies, instruments and other equipment. Arranges supplies and
instruments for efficient use during the surgical procedures. Differentiates sterilization methods for special
equipment and instruments necessary for specific surgical procedures as required. Anticipates future supply
and instrument needs of following room procedures to reduce room turnover between cases.
4 Assists with moving and positioning of patients pre-op, intra-op and post-operatively.

6 Anticipates the needs of the surgeon when passing instruments, sponges, sutures, etc., during the surgical
procedure. Also, anticipates the needs of the surgical team and assists efficiently within the sterile field as
directed by the surgeon.
7 Maintains an accurate count of sponges, needles and instruments and is jointly responsible with the RN
circulator for ensuring counts are complete prior to the procedure and before the incision is closed.
8 Identifies and gives the specimen to the circulating RN as directed by the surgeon.
9 Participates on a consistent basis in the orientation and education of all operating room staff including
Technologists and Surgical Technologist Students.
10 Performs all duties in a manner consistent with safe patient care and according to specified policy and

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
Graduate of a school of nursing, Baccalaureate in Nursing preferred, with current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island. The Clinical Staff Leader is responsible for overseeing the delivery of safe and effective patient care within the Intensive Care Unit. This role provides leadership, staff supervision, and development, ensuring the implementation of policies, resource allocation, and adherence to quality standards. The CSL collaborates with clinical teams to maintain a positive work environment and supports patient care excellence..

Vanderbilt Clarksville Intensive Care Unit (ICU), is a 21 bed mixed medical/surgical adult ICU specialized in providing close monitoring and treatment for patients with a wide-range of diagnosis. We care for patients being treated for Cardiovascular conditions, Acute Respiratory Failure, Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), Multisystem Organ System Failure, Sepsis, Drug Overdoses, Gastrointestinal Bleeds, Diabetic Ketoacidosis, Hypertensive Crisis, Acute/Chronic Renal Failure, STEMI, cardiogenic shock and post heart catheterization.
Our staff is committed to provide exceptional care to our patients. Our environment is challenging, team oriented, patient and family centered. We work collaboratively to provide opportunities for nurses to grow in critical thinking, professionalism, and participate in ongoing education.
Our team consists of Intensivists, advanced practice nurses, critical care nurses, and respiratory therapists. Daily multidisciplinary rounds include the intensivist, advanced practice nurse, ICU nurse, case manager, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, infectious disease, and a nurse leader. SWAT team consists of intensivist, advance practice nurse and charge nurse available as bedside consult. ICU charge nurse responds to codes, and RRT’s. Each shift begins with a safety huddle to look back and forward 24 hours to review safety and quality concerns.
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH, ECG interpretation
Orientation: 12 weeks of orientation is offered based on nursing experience for nurses with at least one year of experience.

Medical Equipment - cardiac monitors, mechanical ventilators, high flow, bipap, feeding tubes, intravenous (IV) lines, arterial lines swan ganz catheters, foley catheters, chest tubes, alaris, pca, epidural, arctic sun, blanketrol, ultrasound, glidescope, bladder scanner, tele neurobot, ventilator, ETc02, wound vac.
Clinical Skills: Hemodynamic monitoring, invasive and noninvasive, Tracheostomy care, ventilator management protocols, cardiac arrthymias, drip titration, cardiac drips, oxygenation management, lines tubes, drains, Sheath pulls.
Professionalism: critical thinking, collaboration, multidisciplinary rounding, bedside shift report, shared governance, certifications.
New Services: Neurosurgery
Drips: Vasopressors, inotropes, paralytics, thrombolytic, all sedation, insulin, Blood products, TPN
Bedside procedures: Central lines, bronch, chest tube, arterial lines, paracentesis, thoracentesis, sheath pulls, cardioversions.
Specialized competencies: Intra-Aortic Balloon pump, Impella device, EVD, Swan Ganz, Arterial Line
Key Responsibilities:
Provides clinical consultation and support to ICU staff, overseeing clinical quality efforts, including audits of protocols and surgical processes.
Collaborates with the ICU Manager/Director to maintain quality care standards as required by departmental protocols and regulatory agencies.
Ensures availability and readiness of supplies, equipment, and stock; addresses equipment needs, failures, or inventory issues to minimize disruptions in patient care.
Supports the professional development of staff by identifying learning needs, collaborating with the preceptor team and clinical educator, and assisting with orientation and ongoing training.
Assists primary physicians in performing procedures, preparing equipment, reviewing patient history, and providing first-assist support during procedures.
Ensures complete, accurate, and timely post-procedure data documentation in alignment with ICU and hospital protocols.
Supervises, trains and oversees departmental staff.
Schedules employees to ensure effective use of resources. Consults with Manager or Director on staffing issues.
Assists with and contributes to performance evaluations and goal setting.
Assists in managing departmental budget ensuring cost-effective operations while maintain high quality service.
Monitors expenditures, ensuring cost-effective delivery of services.
May contribute to evaluation and implementation of new technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
May contribute to development of departmental policies, procedures and protocols.
Ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies.
May participate in audits, inspections and accreditation processes as applicable.
Follows established quality control practices to ensure accuracy, consistency and safety.
Works closely with leadership teams to coordinate and improve service delivery.
Stays up-to-date with industry advancements, new technologies, and regulatory changes.
May work in a staff role, when required. Ensures that duties and responsibilities are fulfilled while meeting all competencies established for that job.
