Job Duties:
Duties include requesting, receiving, distributing equipment & obsolescence management & stocking of general med-surg supplies in various healthcare settings.
Works with end users as necessary to request supplies, troubleshoot supply issues, & resolve discrepancies as they occur.
Maintains work & supply storage areas & equipment in a clean, up to date, organized & safe condition
Performs periodic PAR level replenishment duties using various resupply procedures to maintain stock levels.
Serves as a frontline Supply Chain support representative for ordering, data entry & payment activities.
Assists Supply Chain Leader with special assignments.

SUMMARY:
Under supervision of the Manager Laboratory Outreach Services or guidance of the Lead Phlebotomist, performs responsibilities associated with obtaining blood and various other patient specimens in accordance with department procedures. Obtains samples ordered by physicians for routine and specialized tests on assigned unit. Takes samples from pediatric and adult patients on outpatient units. Transports specimens and completes basic records. Fosters patient and family centered care and nursing services in accordance with the Brown University Health and The Miriam Hospital’s mission, vision, values, with consideration of the life span, including all developmental stages as well as cultural patterns.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs various functions associated with the computer system to assure proper collection and documentation of patient specimens.
Patient Registration including Patient Identification and verification, Patient Look-up, enter patient demographics, insurance information, guarantor, PCP, ordering provider, order tests, enter diagnostic codes, ordering provider following established policies and procedures for patient identification and verification, registration, test orders, medical necessity, and document scanning.
Manage Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABNSN) to include obtaining supporting diagnostic codes, document review, patient signature, document management and scanning.
Performs related clerical activities such as medical necessity follow-up, sorts and files records, daily checklists, answering phones, report delivery, receiving patient into clinical treatment area, as necessary.
Maintains/monitors standing orders for expiration and renewals confirming tasks are followed through to completion.
Provides patient with forms for test, gives instructions regarding any special preparation necessary prior to specimen collection test or appointment. May contact additional patient information to complete patient records.
Schedules venipunctures or capillary blood punctures according to priority and type of test, such as timed studies. Utilizes computer-generated collection labels and references Pathology Handbook as necessary to ensure collection of specimens is in accordance with established procedures, i.e., specimens are collected in proper containers and meet special collection requirements as appropriate. Duties are performed according to hospital policy and observance of universal precautions.
Verifies identity of patient following established procedures and proper patient preparation prior to venipuncture such as fasting or special diet.
Obtains blood samples from patient according to venipuncture or capillary puncture technique. Alerts nursing staff or supervisor to any deviations from puncture or adverse patient condition. May collect other types of specimens (throat culture etc.). May require processing of samples to include centrifuging samples and specimen tracking.
Obtains samples for specialized tests (thyroid Releasing hormone, therapeutic drug monitoring, and D-Xylose tolerance). Verifies volume and timing of dosage. May monitor patient as assigned to observe reactions, including Diaphoresis, sleeping, etc.
May be required to perform bleeding times.
Labels, wraps and transports samples according to type and urgency of sample. Maintains records on sample procurement.
Performs duties according to hospital policy and universal precautions.
Performs various functions associated with the computer system to assure proper collection and documentation of patient specimens.
Register patients and order tests following established policies and procedures for patient identification and verification, registration, test orders, medical necessity and document scanning.
Performs related clerical activities such as, sorts and files records, daily checklists, answering phones, report delivery, receiving patient into clinical/treatment area and as necessary, interviews patient to obtain insurance, biographical and medical information to complete registration records.
Provides patient with forms for test, gives instructions regarding any special preparation necessary prior to test or appointment. May contact patient to return and repeat tests. May contact outside agency physician office to obtain additional patient information to complete patient records. All essential functions performed in this position reflect the age specific needs of the patients.
Follows established procedures, guidelines and protocols when obtaining samples at the patient’s home.
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED required.
Phlebotomy certificate through National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences and/or completion of a Phlebotomy certificate program to include formal internship demonstrating 100 successful venipunctures.
In lieu of internship, 6 months of phlebotomy experience may be considered.
In lieu of phlebotomy certification, 5 plus years direct phlebotomy experience may be considered.
EXPERIENCE:
Ability to perform venipuncture techniques and capillary puncture on adults, children and infants.
Interpersonal skills to obtain and provide information to patients and to explain procedures effectively in order to allay fears and anxiety.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
Clerical skills to prepare and maintain records and reports, including keyboard skills to enter access information.
Familiarity with blood collector equipment, anticoagulants, special precautions and interference.
Ability to distinguish chromatic colors.
A Phlebotomy certificate required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:
Works with in-patient care environment with considerable walking between units and where some physical effort may be required to deal with patients who are uncooperative.
Some exposure to odors when handling specimens.
Exposure to communicable diseases while administering to patients, however chance of injury is minimized by the adherence to established infection control procedures.
Manual dexterity to perform venipunctures.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None.

You will work in partnership with leaders in designing and implementing Advocate Health community engagement strategy and action plan to achieve defined goals across the assigned division. You'll cultivate manages long-term relationships that influence Advocate’s Health’s reputation, awareness, and social impact with teammates, patients, and community partners. In this role you will implement and activate plans in line with best practices and Advocate Health’s core values, mission, priorities, and overall business strategy.
Major Responsibilities:
Support the development and execution from creation, distribution, management, and implementation of defined community engagement programs.
Ability to manage a wide range of relationships with community partners, internal and external stakeholders, and track interactions with these groups.
Maintain and utilize community engagement tracking tools to provide full record of activities, to compile data, and to develop reports.
Participates in meetings, events, symposiums, or initiatives, in community engagement involvement by providing regular updates, identifying challenges, and reporting on a project plan.

Essential Functions
- Responsible for assisting caregivers, participants & retirees with specific inquiries and processing retirement related transactions. - Reporting to the Retirement Supervisor, this position is a combination of an operations role and a consulting role responding to Solution Center retirement inquiries from caregivers, participants & retirees across the Intermountain Healthcare system. Consultants comply with all ERISA, DOL and IRS regulations and guidelines pertaining to defined benefit and defined contribution plans and adhere to department values, policies, procedures, and security / confidentiality requirements and best security practices.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with plan documentation as well as safeguarding Intermountain Retirement plan assets by accurately and efficiently processing retirement transactions, answering questions, and resolving concerns.
- Interacts with retirees and others to consult and educate and follows up on requests for information or research in an efficient and timely manner, documenting pertinent information into case management system including all actions taken and final resolution of escalated cases.
- Provides navigation support and coaching to caregivers, participants, and retirees on how to use the self-serve portal. They demonstrate a thorough understanding of the pension plan and are responsible for running pension calculations (vested terms, mandatory cash outs, and retirements), determining vesting and benefit service requirements and researching problems or discrepancies. Follows up on any missing documentation directly with caregiver or retirees and research participant data discrepancies, errors, & issues.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the retiree welfare benefits, including coverages and premiums with plan providers on the medical, dental, and life insurance for our retirees and communicates changes and updates to retirees and participants.
- Demonstrates an understanding of Defined Contribution Plans 401(k), 403(b), 457(b) & 457(f), matching contributions, the 2% noncontributory contribution plan, and eligibility. Queries the pension and / or trust systems and calculates and inputs adjustments into payroll system as needed for contribution max outs on pending retirees' final payments of PTO and LTI cash out balances.

Operational Leadership: Lead and manage daily operations within the assigned function area, ensuring alignment with divisional and enterprise-wide goals.

Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to drive communication, problem-solving, and operational alignment.
Team Leadership & Development: Manage and develop a team of professionals by performing human resource functions such as hiring, performance evaluations, and professional development. Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree in health information management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience Required:
Minimum 8 years of experience in mid-revenue cycle operations, coding, HIM, or healthcare technology, including 2+ years of leadership experience in a large integrated healthcare system.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Mid-Revenue Cycle Expertise: Demonstrated knowledge of facility coding, professional coding, and HIM operational guidelines and workflows necessary to scope of work. Understanding of third-party reimbursement programs, state and federal regulatory requirements, national and local coverage decisions, and coding classification systems (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).
Financial & Data Analysis: Ability to organize, compile and analyze data from various sources in order to detect patterns, and identify areas for improvement.
Technology & Systems Proficiency: Strong understanding of EHR systems and other revenue cycle technology solutions. Proficient in Microsoft 365 products, including Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
Process Improvement & Standardization: Experience in optimizing workflows and improving operational effectiveness within a complex healthcare environment. Skilled in prioritizing business needs and resource management to develop efficient and scalable processes.
Leadership & Team Development: Proven ability to manage teams, coach staff, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability. Ability to work effectively across multiple departments and within matrix organizational structures.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage clinicians, finance, IT, and revenue cycle teams to align goals, facilitate integration, and drive strategic initiatives.
